Are we allowed to use content from Unreal Tournament 3 within the UDK for Non commercial use.
Meaning if you already have started a MOD in Ut3 and it uses textures, sounds...etc from UT3, But now you want to use UDK to make the Mod a Standalone game, Can we do it or do we have to use only our own custom content?
I just want to be totally sure about this.
Also the UT3 converted archived files of Gears Of War...is that allowed to be used for Non-Commercial games being built on the UDK?

None of us speak for Epic... so we're waiting for them to give an official answer. From what I understand, the answer is "no"... Epic doesn't let you use UT3 assets (unless you, for some reason, have prior written consent)

I believe the official word is that you can use any content provided by UDK for non commercial use.
Assets from UT3 cannot be used.

I found this message from Steve.
Some UT3 assets are included with the UDK - you'll have to see if those are adequate. Note that if you ever plan on making your mod commercial, you cannot use Epic owned assets in the mod.
Doesn't really give a direct answer but it seems we maybe able to.
Can someone from Epic let us know. ;)

That is "he said she said". No disrespect, Bersy. We don't know know whether Jay Wilbur was talking about a commercial or free project.

I believe this is what was inferred, but I digress it may be "he said she said."

What Dekrayzis is asking is if some of the UT3 assets can be used for a free standalone game, not if we can release a free UT4.
Any official words?
