I own a xsi 6 foundation but I never really use it. I still working on my ple version of maya and modo and IO was wondering there was any free tool or affordable solution to create animated character. Like a plugin for blender or such.

cheers.

Well if you have XSI 6 foundation why not learn it and use that to create your animated characters. The Actor X plugin works just fine with it.

If you want to use Blender, of which I am amusing you have to learn to use as well. There is script you can use to export animated models Unreal.

Softimage Mod Tool 7.5 is free for non-commercial use. It has most of the features of the retail version of Softimage 7.5.

Does this definitely work with ActorX?

The exporter crashes SoftImage when I try to use it. (Although it does seem to export a PSK file that works in Unreal). Not managed to export animations yet

It doesn't crash if I fail to specify an output directory, but obviously that's not any use.

Shame on you! (just kidding)

Does it place it anywhere in its own folder structure when you fail to specify? (root or close by default maybe?)

As long as I got a working file on output, I would pay little mind to the crash.

The ActorX plugins are used to export skeletal meshes and their animations to binary file formats (.psk and .psa, respectively) that the Unreal Editor can import.
I use Milkshape3d (http://www.milkshape3d.com/) and I never noticed until now that is claims to Import and Export Unreal Tournament Formats (psk and psa)
Click INFO over on the left and then scroll down.

It is a free download, and only costs $35 US (or 25 euros) to register.

:)

Try it out first though, because I am having trouble getting them into UDK, but maybe that is just me.
