Hello, needless to say this is a truly excellent move on Epic's part. These tools can revolutionize game design.
I just want to be clear on the royalty side: 25% is on Net earnings by the developer, correct? Not Gross sales on portals I hope...
Suppose we make a game using UDK and it takes 1m on game portals. We get say.. 600K net after sales tax and host portal royalties. This means we pay 25% of 600K to Epic = 150K USD.
I hope this is correct? The example license fee shipping with the SDK isn't too clear on this. There is a big difference between 25% of the money generated by sales (1m) and the revenue you actually get paid as a dev. (600K)
Many thanks for answering this!
