First of all as a Indie Developer I think its great that you guys are offering this free of charge for non-commercial development. It will help us big time in the prototyping department as we try to secure funding.
I have a couple questions.
First will the MMO tools be included at some point? Second I am sure you can make third person RPG style characters but how do you go about doing it?

The UT Demo scripts simply lock the camera to the players location to create the first person view and makes the model invisible to the owner. Making a third person style game is no more difficult then having the camera do something else and make the model visible. The behindview command will actually give you a simple 3d person mode in the UT Demo.
You can also decouple the FPS controlling of the player and do point and click style navigation but that's of course quiet a lot more work as you don't have any EPIC code for free to do that.

There are no 'MMO tools' - otherwise parkar is largely on the money; implementing simple 3rd person behaviour is actually fairly trivial.

I won't forget about it. I run a non-registered Indie Development company. My goal is to just put together a prototype for our MMO then get funding then I will look into Atlas at that point. Thanks for your help.

Making an MMO in UE3 isn't going to be easy. For a start, with UDK its damn near impossible, as you cant sort the server issues out. They won't release their MMO tools with UDK, so honestly, aim lower, make a small downloadable game with UDK. Then buy the full license of UE3 with MMO Kit with the profits you made.

The prototype will be a RPG that a group of a few friends will be able to play together. But it will have alot of the features I would like to see in the MMO it just won't be so massive.
