Good day,

Crystal Core (http://www.crystal-core.co.uk) is currently looking for mroe members for their UDK powered commercial project. As far as licenses go, we will be licensing from UDK after completion of the title.

Currently we are looking for:
- Environment Artist
The Environment Artist must be able to develop assets based on reference images, concept art and blueprints for use in UDK?UE3. High poly normal map generation will be needed on some assets, foliage, buildings and similar sized assets will be some of the models you will be creating. UnrealEditor experience is a plus.

- Character Artist (3D)
As Character Artist, you will be working against concept and reference images to model and texture a wide variety of characters. Experience with UDK/UE3 isn't necessary, but any experience is a bonus.

Want to Join?
If your interested in joining, please email us at:
contact@crystal-core.co.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you!

If both of you could email us here:

While we dont have an aweful lot in the form of video editing and CGI needed right now, it would be good to talk about where we plan to use such techniques.

Thanks

I love Designs and Environment, but what I'm really looking for is just being a Base Member. I basically want to help out with Alpha/Beta Pre-Game Testing, Support and Cheering up the Team, and Eventually helping out with Ideas. If you're willing to accept me, I'd be happy to join.

Hello, Kennboy1, we are actually at planning stage and testing is quite far away. Are you looking for experience?

CrystalCore

Hi there 'kennboy1', currently we're only looking to fill developer positions, however when we are looking for testers for our title, we will contact you about testing opportunities.
Thanks again.

That project you mentioned is that horror survival game on website, or something new?

I am level designer and can do some modeling, that is my hobby. For living i do coding or rather analyzing low level code.

My UT3 work can be seen on nawrot.windglider.net. I was recently working on new ctf level but i think its on hold for now.

The game Crystal is talking about is not Degeneration Theory. We are working on a different project now.

I'm the environment 3D artist and i'm pretty interested in seeing other peoples work. Got any examples?

Nawrot

So what kind of game it is? Some more info would be welcome.

And i have examples of my maps on my webpage, link is in signature.

We're still searching hard for a programmer who can work with UnrealScript and some Kismet. We also have an opening for a writer, but this is only if you can prove your really good at it, as we hold our IP very close to our chest, so you will be working within a pre-defined area, but allowed to write within that area, mostly writing world history, and some gameplay story as well.

Please contact us if you have any skills you think we may be able to use:
contact@crystal-core.co.uk

Thanks in advance!

If you guys are in ever need of a texture artist, let me kno. I would be more then willing to help in that area. I was thinking of applying for the art director position since I'm familier with roughly every area and know the fundamentals of game design. But I'm currently in my senior year of college for my BFA in Game Art and Design and it may be a bit difficult to divide the time. But like I said I'm more then happy to help with texturing if needed.

Hi there JarlanPerez,

Would you be able to show any previous work, we might be able to find a place for you on the team if we can see some of your experience in action :)

Sure no problem. I sent you a PM

I've replied, thank you.

We're still searching for a Character Artist (Model, Texture, Rig, Animation a plus).

Hopefully we can get some progress shots up soon, but for now you'll have to wait and see the game we're developing. I'd like to stress, Degeneration Theory (http://www.degenerationtheory.com) is not the project we are current working on.

Are you the guys behind crystal space ('s Crystal Core)?

CrystalCore
11-25-2009, 09:47 AM
No, we've got nothing to do with that. Crystal Core is our company name, we've even been thought of as a cross between Crystal Dynamics and Core Design from the Tombraider games. Our project has no relation to any of these of course.

I have a few questions - If the project you're currently developing is not Degeneration Theory, what is the status of that project? Are you not developing it with UDK? If you are a brand new studio, isn't it a little dangerous to try to work on more than one game project at once?

I see that you state that "Unreal" and Nvidia are company partners on your website. How are you partners with them? Unreal is not a company but a franchise, and a free tool for everyone as of UDK. I could just as easily say I am "partners with Unreal" based on this, but it would be misleading to do so. A partner or affiliate is typically a business agreement or endorsement of some sort. Do you have such a thing with Epic or Nvidia? If not then I would suggest taking down what you have written there or rewording it, as it could lead to legal trouble or damage your reputation to make false statements.

Finally, I also see the mark "Ltd" on your studio name on the website. Are you a legitimate company with shareholders? Because that's what that means...

You have attempted to set guidelines for others who recruit here, this also means you need to take extra care yourself if you intend to build a legitimate company. My intent here isn't to damage you, and maybe you are legitimate in every respect. I only think certain things could probably use some clarification, both for your sake and those who are considering coming on board your project/s.

CrystalCore

Degeneration Theory has been put on hold, we feel that it could suffer in quality if we develop it without external support, as we do not have the required team size or resources to complete it to a commercial quality.

We are registered Nvidia developers, and therefore that is our partnership with them, the reason behind the Unreal partnership icon is down to the fact that upon using UDK, you are basically signing a virtual contract, we feel that it is only right to mention we are using UnrealTech, and for that reason we have listed them in that section of our website.

We are a registered company (in the UK), Crystal Core, Ltd. is our registered name, we may appear on Companies House search, but i recently change my personal freelancing company name to the studios name, so it might not show up quite yet.

I thank you for your support, hopefully that clears things up for everyone.

Thanks :)

Cool, thanks for addressing those things, and without a hint of offense taken.

Either way, I am actually looking forward to the release of that game considering how the trailer sparked my interest. You're on to something, and I can't wait to see what the final product looks like once you get the external support needed to complete the game with commercial quality. :)

I love survival horror. :P

Hey Michael, I'm no longer part of the team but I can tell you that the game "Degeneration theory" is not the current project.

Also, I emailed you : )

Yes sir, I just replied. Let us keep discussion in email as I would not want to disrupt CrystalCore's thread. I have complete confidence in the team at CrystalCore, from what I have seen in that trailer, they are on a very good path.. so whether it's DT or another game they're working on.. I'm sure it will be great. :)

Hi all, i'd like to update you on our recruitment side of things.

As always feel free to send us your CV's, portfolios and demoreels, but i'd like to outline the main positions we are actively seeking to fill!

Firstly we are in need of a Character Artist who can model, texture and rig (also animation is a huge bonus) a number of character and creature models.

Secondly, we will be needing an Animator with experience with UE3/UDK, rigging, characters and various other skills.

I'll keep you (as always) up to date on our progress. We usually try to find a place for everyone that applies, but sometimes we cannot extend the team size for people that don't match our skill levels in various areas of the team.

I would encourage you to contact us via Email:
contact@crystal-core.co.uk

or visit our website for additional contact information:
www.crystal-core.co.uk

Thank you, look out for project related news soon!

Hi guys do you need a foilage artist?

Hi there nate0109, we recruit on the basis of skill, do you think you could get in contact via email:
contact@crystal-core.co.uk

Just send us some examples of previous works, anything that will help us decide upon your team placement :)

-----------

On another note, we're now looking for Environment Artists, and Weapon Artists. Both of which will be developing 3d assets for the use in our project.

Thank you.

nate0109

I could do the weapon artist parts and also by environment artist do you like making maps? Most of my previous work is under Realm Crafter (mmorpg maker) Most of the stuff the members produced had some of my weapons in them, I also made the zones (maps) for a few of them. I have models ready to give you but I need specifications on what weapon type (modern, WWII, swords)

CrystalCore

We're just interested in seeing some of your previous work in screenshots, just send us renders/screenshots of your best works, and we'll see if we can place you on our team in one of the open positions. Unfortunatly we're not in a position to state any information about our current project to public internet forums, though if you do send us an email, i can get back to you via Email, MSN or Skype in regards to what exactly is required for our project, and any other information you may need.

Thanks in advance!

Hopefully thats been sorted via Private Message now.

Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! We've got one position left open (Animator), and while the team settles down for the winter season, and we go into long hibernation (joking, of course), we've decorated our website with some Christmas cheer:
