Hello, I have this simple question. I'm using Japanese windows, so UDK installed as japanese by default. Is there any way to change display language to English?

I am using Traditional Chinese Windows, but UDK gave me this machine horribly translated Simplified Chinese version.., which makes no sense at all. Please.. let us use English menu as an option... pretty please...:(

Try this set

D:\UDK\UDK-2009-11\UTGame\Config\UTEngine.ini -> Language=EN

You can modify Language=*** to Language=INT in your UTEngine.ini in the UTGame\Config\UTEngine.ini folder.

If you can let us know what needs to be improved about the translation it would be greatly appreciated :-)

During installation language selection should be provided instead of auto detection.

Hye Vogel,

First, I agree with LinaInverse, please make it an option to set language preference in the UI interface, not just at the setup...

As for what needs to be improved.. Please make two types of Chinese available, Traditional Chinese, being used in Taiwan and Hongkong, and Simplified Chinese used in China(simplified is what you have right now)..

Secondly, if money is allowed, please hire some localized/native translator to do translation for each region, as technical jargons usually get translated differently in different regions... Some regions use literal translation, some region use metaphor-like translation.. So translation for one region probably would not make sense for users from other regions. Unfortunetly, the Chinese translation you have there is neither.. as every non-english spoken co-workers at my office came and as aked for ways to set the language back to English... They'd rather read the unfamiliar English than the dreadfully translated Chinese..
I hope you can understand the problem...

Hi ayanami0,

I am a supporter for chinese localization.

Firstly, Thank you for using UDK. Our aim is for everyone to get the full experience of UDK and enjoy the fun brought by UDK.

There are many different language versions of UDK, so we have a big workload. But we are trying to provide best support.

To give best localization for all the chinese speakers, your answers to the following questions will be helpful.

Are you from Taiwan or HongKong?? Does the Simplified Chinese prevent you from understanding the Simplified Chinese version of UDK clearly?

Or if you think some parts of the translation are low quality, please tell us the parts you noticed needing immediate improvement.

Hope for your reply.

Also with cut .....

and in the windows of static mesh editor, the information words show □□□□□□

These erro there a lot...

I am from Taiwan.. I can read both Simplified and Traditional Chinese. From what I can understand.. the quality is pretty jiberish... The translation would still make no sense just by mappnig the words to Traditional Chinese. But as I don't live in China, maybe some friends from China can point me wrong, the translation might be brilliant for the locals... cheers..

hehe, you haven't to use the vesion of Chinese.

change the file UTengine.ini file.

I have done that, and the Nvidia video card can't work well as it could be.

It show that pysic by cpu,if I set the mesh work by GPU,the flag didn't move at all.

that is what puzzle me,if you has change anything in the file engine.ini in another cfg document, the language will auto change to English.

hehe, interesting. As you see ,my poor English.

I hope there will be better UDK,thanks a lot!:D:D

If the Nvidia video card can by its gpu for physix as it does in the demo game.

that's wonderful,but the udk 09 11 can't use the gpu for physix.
