Good day, I'm delighted to be here to announce an extraordinary journey to share with the Gears community-That journey is Peril. The goal essentially was to create a level of image quality not seen before in a Gears setting, in addition to a spine-tingling gameplay experience.

Very early on Peril was design with the direction of being a multiplayer level, however after observing the PC Gears community it seem more efficient to support a play-through for single users. Nevertheless, to keep this short, I hope you buds do enjoy :)

Peril is an ancient fortified place, created by the titans to store equilibrium throughout the Cosmos. Once a undiscovered ruin to Herald the Titans has now been discovered by the Locust. With consideration of Peril containing relics left by the Titans, the Locust intent is to uncover the mysteries to utilize against humanity. But something has happen in this great ordeal leading the Coalition of Ordered Governments to conceive the Locust plans with Peril. In order to save humanity The COG has sent their best men to contend against the Locust.

At the Upper North located in the center, a blue energy will be observable to walk through. Here's a video demonstration Peril:Quick Look (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7t2Vj9NJoU) (Courtesy of Shriken)

Peril has remained in peace for over three millennia, and now war has brought itself upon it...

Just played version 1.0, really insane wretches, map looks very beautiful, green, big, ancient ruin. Only wretches to shoot at, but too many of them, massive groups all over the map, no way to hide finally, also cause the framerate drop to 0 at last, lol...

So i hope add more type of locusts, and maps of this scale can add some giant brumaks ,or flying reavers ,etc as well, and reduce number of each wave of locusts of cause, making the map into a horde version, we choose different player character at the beginning, differenct waves of locust each time and not too many of them to drop famrate.

Thx man, overall nice work indeed, fun to see stranded allies in horde again....

You mean when you try to play them?

the general way to open them is through the console and type in open_namenamehere (from memory)

if that doesn't work, I have no idea

Heyas, here today to share some screens on Peril in its current state. Improvements with lighting, specifically utilization of Volumetric lights and overall a greater number of lights. Peril has over 500 lights in the scene and a total of 5000 objects.

While I want to really release the updated version, I am encountering technical issues, where my new lights are not being build buds. If I can find a solution then certainly I will release the new version of Peril. Nonetheless, I hope you guys enjoy these shares.

very beatiful lighting indeed man, how about the gameplay improve? Also hope that great music in 136 Street can be added in too...Gameplay will still share similarities, but I've been toying with an extra enemy variant(won't spoil). However, I really do admire the Wretches in their animations and they way of working in groups to create great intensity for the player, so I'm improving the counts for better balance. Co-op is another feature I'm looking to update within Peril this time around.

The music will indeed be marvelous. :)

great thx man, nice level design as always, just hope not too many appear the same time to make framerate drop to really low finally, they can be a lot and unlimited, but each wave can be somewhat less, so no heavy burden to CPU and GPU,:D...

This map looks great. How long did it take for you to complete?

This map looks great. How long did it take for you to complete?Up until the release, Peril total approximately 26-28 work days.

With the new screens I shared on the first page(New lights and objects), it should be about 1 month of work time; however, I've encounter an issue where a full build will bug the lighting channels, resulting in the lights in those specific channels to not display :(

I have to admit, when I first saw your screen shots, I was sceptical about the map. The DOF I thought was far too extreme as was your bias of colours. But, after watching it, especially with that backing music (which is great by the way), I just want to go to 'Peril', relax and just have a stroll around. Keep up the good work.
