Can we submit an updated version of our work and if so can we just use the same zip name as before.
Also if phase 4 hasn't closed will this version be the one judged?
I had to do a few visual changes to my level so I was just wondering!

Phase 4 ended about 40 minutes before your post.

Bummer, I have a critical blocking volume missing, must have got accidentally deleted somehow.
I also missed a few static meshes I had intended on placing.
Oh well thats what you get, I had no idea of the exact time when submissions actually closed living here in Australia so I was very rushed doing the final work and ended up posting it long before now.
I hadn't done extensive testing!
Between work, working on my submitted level and another I was trying to finish, I,m exhausted.

blar, i submitted early and only realized now i could have resubbmited. I've got floating flowers in the middle of my level and a couple other little minor issues.
Not to mention a HUGE bug where my sniper doesn't proc quad damage!
Oh well, my maps running at about 90% i think. Still pretty competitive, but i could be looking at it with rose colored glasses seeing as it's my own.

I think FPGundam mentioned that if any of us needed to send in an update to contact him. The Epic folks have been really cool about submissions every phase - I happen to know Deadman's and a couple others had issues and needed to upload again after deadline. While I do agree with most that an auto-updater for a submission does not seem fair, I think that the deadline is to get the basic submission in and as long as the basic finished product is submitted before the phase closes, that there is still some time before the judges get to the task where some of these last minute changes or "wrong file" issues can be slipped in as a last minute update. For those of you with thee types of issues - I would definately give it a try. If not, hope your mod is chosen for phase 5 and you will have a chance to update it thru most of November!
Just be one of the 12 best...
Good luck to all and thanks for all the cool mods folks!

Err, no. The updates you send them after the deadline only apply to the FilePlanet download link for the community. The one submitted at the deadline is used for judging. Otherwise there would still be no point to having contest deadlines.

could someone at epic or fileplanet approve this? the faq says:
f I create a game type and the first submission has a level that I would like to change completely, can that be done considering the gameplay and all the crucial elements of that game type will remain intact?
Yes, in fact, you may submit a mod up to three times within one contest phase. We strongly recommend that visible improvements be present from one submission to the next.
so what exactly does that mean? does that mean, that now we have the biggest issues fixed that we had in the submission can be uploaded or is it about the phases of the MSUC?

It says "within one contest phase", not "after the deadline". What would be the point of having deadlines if everyone could just submit again afterwards?

Look i had that question, it's not only me who has that question, i've been talking to other modders, they haven't been sure either, so i'm just asking for an official answer to it.

"within one contest phase" could be "within the entry phase ..." or "within the judging phase..", so thats the question, still able to update an entry?

Once uploaded, you may resubmit your Submission up to three (3) times prior to the close of an evaluation Phase. The mod submitted prior to and closest in time to the close of the Evaluation Phase Submission Deadline will be considered for that particular Evaluation Phase.
(I suppose leeway will be given to those who had technical difficulties while submitting. But I'm pretty sure what you meant to submit during that time will remain what will be the evaluated version. i.e. like what AngelMapper said, any other updates/changes to the submitted installer done after the deadline will be only for the public. Otherwise a deadline wouldn't really make much sense then)

I will only allow updates if you had problems uploading your file and contacted me prior or during the deadline. So if a contestants tried like 3-4 times and spent 20 hours trying to uploading a file and it had a mistake in his .ini file, a bad link, or the file was corrupt I would allow an update the following days.
You can contact me at cpham@ign.com to update your files or attach an image to it on FilePlanet.com. These updates are outside the scope of the MSU contest.

If you try uploading it yourself, it won't go through and just say there was an error, or at least thats what happened to me when I tried it.

Just to give you guys a heads up, I updated Deadman's Tales with the custom character we had. Sadly I didn't have the files at the time of the submission, but he's in there.
