ok, it's a *****y thread, but to the gears 2 MP's, don;t you find it rather annoying people grab nades, and tag walls, and just camp? i find it pretty stupid, but what do you think?:mad:

I feel your fustration/pain.If anything, people shouldn't be able to plant grenades on walls. Why? Well listen to my rant. Gears of War 2 was designed with the concept of stopping power, to decrease the amount of bumrushing/not using cover like people did in Gears 1. Well that's all fine and well, because this is a cover based shooter.

Now with the stopping power added, people are encouraged to outflank/outmanouver opponents. But you can't outflank anyone because there are loads and loads of grenades planted on the "flanks"; resulting in either your death or alerting the other team you're outmanouvering them, giving them ample amounts of time to adjust to the situation. It's so selfdefeating, I don't know wether to cry or to laugh.

My suggestions:

1: remove the ability to plant grenades on walls/floors at all (preferred, but not realistic I know.)
2: Instead of grenades detonating instantly when you trigger them, there should be a small delay. A delay long enough to make sure you could dive away if you react instantly. (Example with frags: "beep-beep-beep" *explodes*). This wouldn't solve the problem entirely but it would make sure that you don't get killed around every god damn corner.

i agree with the delay on the frag explosions, but i disagree that planting frags should be taken out entirely.

I wondered if this bothered anyone else.. if all of us agree then they should change it. If you run into a well placed one you have no choice but to die. I would love both the fixes listed above. I realize one will probably never happen but, two might.

I don't want to sound mean but if you weren't successful it means that the opposing team has used a preventive measure, (grenade tagging is about the only one gears has that doesn't include player to player interaction) or you've done something wrong.

Not every game plan is without fail and because you were not able to execute does not indicate a failure in the game's design.

It boils down to moves vs countermoves.

So at the point where you do encounter a grenade, it's then time for your countermove or their move was effective and has beaten you.

Just about any game worth it's weight relies on the same concept.

Have you tried keeping a grenade to hurl into the most common places you'll find them tagged?

Have you tried running and diving through or away from where you know one is? It works.

Other than that, I don't know what to tell you. Good luck

This has become the common way to play IMO. What pisses me off more than almost anything is having a frag planted at a spawn point. I expect to be blown to pieces if I die cause i KNow after i spawn and take off running to get back with my team, Ill be shattered like glass before I get there. I like the fact that you cant plant more than 2 grenades, but a patch to fix the spawn point planting would be really nice.

now thats also another point i wanted to make but forgot, especially on annex, or guardian, or w/e spawning playlist you play, it's really low, and cheap..:(

i have to say that i would find gears 2 multiplayer far more enjoyable if the wall tagging would be removed, because all it does if give some one cheap kills that they dont deserve also like you said on certain maps people will tag up and camp its a joke and shows how much *****s people are at times on this game

i agree, to get rid of it, makes the MP more fun:D

Only one frag spawns in spawn place (just like ink)

You see, these options will nerf the grenades so badly. They will no longer be an honest threat, and will become more of an unreliable obstacle. If you have a problem with people spamming grenades, try taking your time to see if grenades have been planted around various corners. Being able to plant grenades on walls and floors adds so variety of traps to this game, taking away from the never-ending shotgun and hammerburst duels (something I do so appreciate).

Finnaly, as a little end-note, try not to think of the people who use grenades as spammers. I tend to think of them as ingenuitive in some of their traps, as they continuously kill me. I mean, if you run into a planted grenade, it's really your fault for not being cautious enough.

I say, give the Grenade planting ability to certain game modes.

Guardian = Only the leader can tag grenades
Annex/KOTH = All players can use tags, but only a limit of one

The rest of the Game modes, just remove the grenade tagging altogether.

Yeah using them is what's called being tactical, and grenades? Man you must be kidding. Taking all that out just completely ruins what EPIC had in mind...

...What you're suggesting will basically be just butthurt people *****ing and whining about so called 'n00bs' and proclaiming that they are '1337 pro's' Having shotgun fights all the time and spraying each other with HB's. Which just sounds boring, you need variation, that's what the game is about.

If weapons only spawned once in games like Warzone and Execution then that might help or the idea of the grenades beeping the whole time they are in the wall. I think something should be done because it just promotes camping. Killing people with a wall mine proves nothing it's just a cheap and easy kill.... I think you should have to work for a kill face to face.

There are very simple ways to punish noobs camping with frags.


BTW, what a "1337 pro"? Just wondering.
