Just wondering if any one else would like a novel
based on or around the events of Gears of war?
I would and im sure there will be many fan-fics writen about it but i would like a proper novel on GOW aswell.
Since Eric Nylond wrote/is writing the script for GOW there may be a possibility that Epic hired him to write a novel for them, incase you don't know who Eric is, he's the guy who wrote the halo novels

oh yes, I would embrace that, even if I can't really imagine a novel about the actually war and the important shooting scenes :P
we don't know much about the story behind Gears, I think there is planned a lot, if I look to the female character... this leaves a lot open

hopefully the game will explain alot and then possibly a book to explain the rest, it could be set either after or before the game

^^ I think it was Mike Capps that was wearing one in the Gamespot stage demonstration video at E3. It was grayish and had the Gears of War logo on the chest in red. (the gear with the skull in the center)

This would be awesome. They could do so much stuff with it and take it so many different directions kinda like the Halo novels which rocked.

The Art Direction Epic chose for Gears would make awesome art for novels, comics, etc.
Don't know too much about the story except what Epic leaked for us thus far.
so far only two people have voted no,
and they didn't give a reason.
oh well i'd still love a book on GOW

It should be about how the humans located Sera, the Pendulum Wars, Marcus`childhood, Marcus and Dom`s military career (Maybe Alpha Squad can be in it), E-day, and ect...

This game could turn out to be a very good book and a very good movie if it was put into motion. The book would be harder to layout gun fights but it would be interesting and i could see a movie directed by Ridley scott on the gears of war franchise.

A movie would be very interesting. :) With the current graphics on Xbox360, though, it's almost like watching one hehe

I dunno... I read that Eric Nylund (the author of the good two of the three Halo novels) is involved with the GoW storyline, which to me indicates that there's a good chance that he might write any accompanying novels. I'd be really excited about that since I dig his style.

Its all going to depend on how the game does. if it is a resounding hit (which it will be) then Epic might think of going into making a novel or a movie, but that is not in any of there priorites for now, they just want to make a kick a** game.

It didnt even come out yet! how do u no they wont reval the character past? anyway, off-topic but the halo movie is based on the 1st novel. Halo:Fall of Reach this was the best one to me and i cant wait for the movie.

I have been hoping for a GoW novel since i found out that Nylund was involved. There's an interview with Eric on Gears' web page. Doesn't mention a novel but worth reading.

Well the game takes place on emergence day so if a novel was released it would explain what was going on before emergence day. They have to leave what happens after this game for GOW2:) .

ABLSOLUTLY YES. I would LOVE for there to be a GoW novel, hat would be sweet. If they do, since Eric Nylund is helping with the making of GoW, he should write the book. I've read his Halo novels several times and I think he's a great writer. He'd be perfect.

oh dude i never thought about a movie untill just now. YES, that would be the coolest thing ever. The guy who's working on the Halo moive (sorry, forgot his name) should do it because he is realy good with special affects. He did after all make the new King Kong movie.

i loved the halo books and hope that the gears book is something like those if they actually make them

if they do ever wright a novel about gears it should either be about the locusts attemting to take over Sera or the war on Sera before the locusts came.

The books should cover the areas that the Gears of War game(s) fo not cover. Like the Pendulum wars.

there were a couple of t-shirts on eBay. white with the Crimson Omen in black. it was nice. but they are all gone now.:p

I believe you'll find it was Eric Nylund who wrote the Halo Novels and is working on the Halo Move Script and yes I know he is working on Gears. I love my Halo book too! Cant wait till the I get the others from order.

nah the flood was ok becasue it went into alot more detail of what happened in halo 1, it basically retold the whole story but they included a bit more detail into it.

It should also be noted that Nylund did not write "The Flood," he wrote the other two Halo novels. That's probably why everyone seems to hate the middle book. I wouldn't know, I haven't read that one because I heard so many bad things about it.

first thing, the movie starts out with a flashback of him on reach and everything, it takes more place of thte first game not the for book, just so you know, i forgot where i read that but they had an interview with the guy who made the script and told him that it started out with a flashback then master cheif coming out of sleep, like in the first game, at least so far thats what has been said by many people and there was a thread i saw on bungie.net for a while about it to, second, a book would be great, books always are good if they are based on a good game, but i think it should be more of pre-story. because i didnt like the flood book because it was basically the game with more details, and they shouldnt make a book set after the game, because there may not be anything to tell, or they may not know if they are going to make another game

GOW novel would definitiely be sweet. I thought the Halo novels were cool. GOW sounds like it has a pretty bad ass story line already. I'd buy it.

I think there should be a novel, just like the Halo novels, Eric Nylund wrote them and co-wrote Gears, so perfect match. The novels only further the mythology of the story world.
