me and my mates played a match of guardian on avalanche against a clan which had the number 3 guy in the world in it and they get battered 3-0 :D all they did was rush with there leader and had hammerbursts out we basically just sandwiched there team 2 people from the front and 2 people from the back and are leader stayed out of the way which has got me asking basically leaderboards don't mean alot just that these guys have nothing better to do than play gears im an above average player and found it so easy to beat these noobs :) btw im like rank 18,000 on guardian so im not really good and have a 2.0 K/D on it but i don't play it alot im more of an execution player :eek::eek::eek::):):)

I'm 420 in the world in annex with a 1.3 k/d but I have over 17,000 takedowns. Think I get my kills stolen much?
So it's not as simple as k/d. And I have played less than 1000 matches
And some people are only as high as they are because they have played thousands of more games than the people behind them.
Some people ignore the game objective for points, so you'll find a lot of high ranked players losing because all they are doing is padding stats.

I played Nastty and Bedroom Thief who were the no. 1 on the Execution leaderboards. Nastty standbyed when he was losing 4-2. Was total garbage and Thief was decent. Had host and I out-strafed him twice

I agree. I played with the #4 and #14 in Guardian this week. Complete garbage. Their teammates did better.

K/d doesn't really mean much in Annex. There's a lot of static in that stat.
for example: At the end of rounds you're about to lose (the clock is already ticking) you often have to take high risk to get into the circle and stop the clock, you race past the first 2 guys shooting at you with shotty, then you barely miss a guy revving the chainsaw only to arrive at the annex and have a frag blow up in your face. this will make you die a lot of times that you normally wouldn't. Players that only focus on winning (like me) have a lot of kills stolen but more captures, breaks and revives.
I have a .7 k/d in annex. This seems really bad but still i've won 60 more games than i lost. And i don't really get good teammates a lot. I've won scores of games that were super laggy by playing smart. I'll end up with 10 kills but 15captures and 7 breaks. Some guy on the other team has 36kills but he did lose the 2 rounds :-)
this happens every day at least once.

AMEN brother. Killing is an important part of annex...but it's not the ONLY part of it. I've seen guys get 40 kills and lose...hell I've HAD 40 kills and lost...but the guy with 15 captures is rarely on the losing team...

If you have the most points you may not be a good player????
If you have the most points you are better than the other players that have less points so you are a good player, or at least better than the others.
In annex k/d ratio doesn't mean nothing, the important thing is point per match.
You say leaderboard mean nothing, I kinda agree with you, here is why :
I'm #27 in annex all time, I have played against the #1 and #5 2times, they are spanish, both times they had host they won because of the bullet lag/unregistred shots.....
They started to bleed after the 3rd hammerburst bullets, that mean I was always late of 2bullets.
Really fair when you have shotgun battles, they shot you die, you shot nothing happen, unregistred shot..........
Are they good? I don't know, maybe one day with no lag I will figure it out.
One time I have played against 3guys who are on the top 30, those 3guys were on the same team but I was host and they lose. Was it a fair win? probably not....
One time I played against a guy ranked in the top20, I was host and I won.
Another time I played against the same guy, he got host and I lose.
I wish that one day we'll have a fair game, no lag or BS.
I also have played against the #3, he is garbage but he is #3 because he played a lot.
The #2 in annex is the biggest cheater of all time, so yes leaderboards mean nothing.

the important thing is point per match.
Points Per Match does tell you something, but don't read too much into it. The games where your team really kicks butt, you'll end up with very few points because there's not much re-capturing to do. Winning 180-0 bums me out because of the low scores :-)

Some people who are at the top of the Leaderboards are actually good though.
Most are still bad.

in my experience higher ranked players quit more than lower ranks, simply if their game is lagging a little. The penalty means nothing to them as they'll easily make up for it in a non-laggy match. I understand it can be really frustrating if you know you're very skilled but nothing's working because of lag. Makes it feel unfair.
I always try to take into account when people quit, that they might have been lagging badly. You can't really see that if your own game is fine, and it makes you think they're losers and cheaters. very late quitting is usually suspect though...
I've played over 900 games online and i honestly haven't quit more than 10 times. But when things become a little too ridiculous, i don't hesitate to quit.

Well sadly, the situation right now is Connection > Skill
Generally people higher on the leaderboards are usually decent..

Just because they're ranked high doesn't mean that they're going to do great every single game. Everyone has a bad game once in a while. Believe it or not, Gears 2 is a team-based game, whether you think it is or isn't. The skill of your team will base the outcome of who wins or loses the match. Like Verios said though, connection will be the main deciding factor.
