Gears 1 Question

I came into Gears with Gears 2 and I hear people talking about how Gears 1 is so much better. Considering I came after the patch and have never played Gears 1 I don't really understand how they could be different.

So...What makes Gears 1 supposedly better than Gears 2?

Well I personally don't know how to describe it but Gears 1 is a higher paced game which gets your heart pumping and the skill required to use the weapons is a bit more higher than Gears 2. Also in Gears 1 you can choose the matches you want which is always a plus.

yeah i agree with gears 1 you couldn't just pick up a sniper or tork bow and be good with it like you can on gears 2, picking your own gametype and map plus you knew who host was because he obviously was hosting the room. i went back to gears 1 and realize how much better 2 is a couple of things could of been brought across espacilly escalation, bullet marsh and raven down map wise, but when u go back to 1 u cant see how much better 2 is i know gears 1 shotgun was better and it was more fast pace but that really it.

Gears 1 was a much faster paced game. For me, Gears 2 seems too slow, I guess it was supposed to be more tactical. Whatever, it isn't as fun, so why change something that isn't broken? Gears 1 shotgun was a lot better cause originally in Gears 2 the shotgun was completely unreliable: when hip firing, your bullets would hit the floor, and after TU 2 and 3, you have to stand there looking at your enemy for two seconds before you can shoot after roadie running-WTF. This slowed the game down even more. The chainsaw is practically impossible to stop in Gears 2 and what is with the smoke grenades-so rediculous. The stunning is just terrible. Also, there is so much lag in Gears 2. They tried to fix it with their updates but only made it worse for me. Lastly, there servers suck. I have gone back to Gears 1 and was like WOW! This game is so much better than Gears 2. Basically, EPIC has angered a lot of there Gears fan base with Gears 2. Congrats EPIC!

i think that everyone compares gears 2 to gears 1 but they are 2 completely different games, the weapons for 1 in the main part are all different and they have slowed gears 2 down.
and the biggest difference is the matchmaking because you could choose which specific game type you played and you were able to see how good your connection to the game was going to be.
I'd say the only way that you were able to find out how different the two games are is to try out gears 1

i myself enjoy gears 2 better after TU3.
