I can't understand why people complain so much about 2-piecing. the way I see it, there are far more things to complain about. Now i'm gonna completely ignore the fact that cheating was the major issue for this post, and just stick to the problems with gameplay.
As i see it, before you complain about the 2-piece, and people who use its lack of skill, you should complain about a few other things first.
1. The most unskillful, unenjoyable kill you can get in gow 2 is the chainsaw kill, seeing as all you have to do is hold down a button, and get within 3 feet of a guy and he will automatically get sucked into the vacuum on the end of your gun
2. The double beat down. This requires slightly more skill than the chainsaw, but is yet another tactic used by noobs. Atleast this type of kill requires you to be facing the guy you are targetting, hit him, then avoid their shotgun blast, and then meleeing them again. Still a noob tactic, but i respect it slightly more than the chainsaw.
3. Camping with smokes. This tactic is (while i am not complaining about it I still think it is less skillful than the 2-piece) one that requires very little skill with the gun, but requires more skill than double melee because of the placement of the grenade. Once again, i respect this more than the other 2 previously mentioned, because it involves actual aiming, running, and some thought in the planting fo the grenade.
4 Now comes 2-piecing. Complain all you want about how you hated the delay, and you think it requires no skill, but it is still better than the previously mentioned techniques. Firstly, this requires you getting involved in a battle, and running right into and avoiding gunfire (which is one of the things that made gears awesome - despite it being unrealistic for a game about war), second, you need to get in the vicinity of a guy who most likely has a shotgun pointed at you, then after meleeing (which i agree doesn't take much skill), you have to shoot the guy without the help of the left trigger aimin technique to blast him in one shot, otherwise (if the guy has any skill) you will get blown apart.
Again, you can complain that you have no chance if you get two-pieced from behind, but lets face it... in war, if a guy comes up behind you with a shotgun at your backm your gonna die, no matter which method he chooses to kill you with.
Lastly, unrelated to the two-piece, I just waanted to comment on the smoke grenade... It was a great idea, but I thinkt heres a better alternative to what it does. I think that the effect of running into a smoke should be the same as what happens to you when your teammate fires the mortar in your vicinity. You stop in one place, shield your eyes for a second (not fall down), and then continue on your way.
Any thoughts?
