but when you freeze things with liquid nitrogen they are so brittle that a tap can shatter them

You could yell crazy things when you threw them, like "Now is the winter of our grenades."

They could have a blast radius like a frag, but an ice cloud animation like a poison grenade, so if it misses you by a little or you walk through the ice cloud after it detonates, you'd be covered with frost temporarily, like having needles stuck in your armor in Halo.
