Yo all!

I got this question here:

If you go load up the UN_Rock2 package, youll find a mesh named: S_UN_Rock_SM_CliffsSmall03.

Now try and double click on that mesh so you see it in the Unreal Static Mesh Editor.

Do you see this really terrible looking black pattern over the mesh? - Try and zoom a little in and out, rotate it even. - That black pattern looks friggen terrible, and the situation im in now is that i got some of these rocks from the UN_Rocks and the UN_Rocks2 package, and ive replaced the material on them with another material Instance, and on some of them i get this terrible shadow/pattern/whatever and its really starting to cut off my balls T_T

So anybody knows how to fix this god damn stuff, then please let me know ASAP.

Thanks a lot

The shadows in the static mesh editor are only temporary (shadow volumes), and will often show up a bit odd looking...

I haven't looked at that particular mesh you're talking about but have you rebuilt your lighting?

I think i know that mess and idd that stays black even after a very bright light on it
you just need to change the material

I see this on many meshes, and not only EPIC made ones. This is result of some coplanar polygons or other error in importing or rendering. Sometimes it only appears in editior mesh preview, but sometimes stays in map and refuse to go.

As Zixxer wrote, change material, or replace brush.
