View Full Version : Patch 2.0 cooking Titan content - FIXED!
Cr4zy
03-06-2009, 03:57 PM
After some e-mails with Josh at epic the problem has been fixed.
In your: Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Published\CookedPC
Folder DELETE the GlobalPersistentCookerData.upk file.
Now have fun cooking your maps with Titan Pack Content! :D
Edit:
You may also need to replace GlobalPersistentCookerData.upk in Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\CookedPC with this file -
EPIC link - http://www.epicgames.com/download/GlobalPersistentCookerData.zip
My FTP - http://Cr4zyB4st4rd.co.uk/Other/GlobalPersistentCookerData.zip
If neither of the above fixes work try to do a recook with -full
Easy way to do that load up UnrealFrontEnd.exe located in X:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries

Edit: After removing the GlobalPersistentCookerData.upk file in my game-folder (E:\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\CookedPC) I can't cook anything ! On drive c in >Documents\My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Published\CookedPC< this file don't exists.
So I've copied it back and I can cook my >normal< maps, the new stuff still crashes.

well, i can cook my rerelease of Downtown_Necris (thank you epic) with that hack (but i replaced the file with another one crazy gave me)
BUT:
no matter what the filename is, it ALWAYS overwrites their map.

Try replacing GlobalPersistentCookerData.upk in Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\CookedPC
Looks like an cooking-related file didn't make it into the patch.
http://www.epicgames.com/download/GlobalPersistentCookerData.zip
Unzip that file into your UTGame\CookedPC directory (in the install directory, not My Games). For testing, you may want to back up the existing GlobalPersistentCookerData.upk, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Got it working, thanks Crazy. Had to replace the GlobalPersistentCookerData.upk and delete the GlobalPersistentCookerData.upk in the My Games\Unreal Tournament 3\UTGame\Published\CookedPC folder for it to work. Yay!

May not be too helpfull Rumple, but that MipLevel_4 error sounds like a MipMapping error, which I would hypothesize would have something to do with Shader Data.
You could try deleting any Shader Caches just in case...
Other than that I am not sure, but I do know that quite a few people have tried re-cooking FacingWorlds (myself included) without success, there's just something in that map that the editor seems not to like at times for some people, yet other people seem to have no problems, so I don't know how much help this is. ;)

Use UnrealFrontEnd.exe (X:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries) to do the cook
http://Cr4zyB4st4rd.youtea.de/Screenshots/full.jpg
Make sure Full recook is checked.
Suggest the same to MIC, also the cook screen doesn't really say anything, posting the launch log can show what the problem package is

I believe that you do not NEED to use the Front End to do the cook. If you delete (or remove) BOTH versions of the offending GlobalPersistentCookerData.upk file from your "My Games" folder and the game install folder, you then place the new GlobalPersistentCookerData.upk ONLY in the game install folder.
I was able to cook from within the editor for content from pre-patch/titan. I did not try to use any new content. If it's the new content that causes peculiar behavior, then I did not check on that.

....
Would appear something is defiantly wrong with your UN_Sky
Before you cook it (in-editor) when it asks you about saving packages click No as long as you have it fully rebuilt and save that shouldn't actually affect anything, but if you have possibly modified something in UN_Sky that can cause issues.

Any chance this would have an effect on other cooking issues with the patch? I'm having problems with movers now. I don't have any Titan content, but now that I'm cooking with the 2.0 editor, I'm having some new issues.

maybe I should change my sky back to a normal UT3 sky instead of titan sky O_o

Make sure you remove BOTH GlobalPersistentCookerData.upk files. One from the game install dir and the one under the my documents folder.
Copy the updated version into the game install dir and it 'should' work.
When I first tried the fix I forgot to check the my documents dir and had constant crashing issues. Once I deleted (not replaced) the my documents copy cooking (with the new Titan pickups) worked like a charm.

Lord_Porkie's got it: delete both, ONLY replace the one in the game install directory, and you're good to go.

Thank god!
it fixed my cooking problem :D
Thank you!
Just a couple quick questions from a server admin, not a map maker.
Does this mean that some of the maps that I use on my server will not work until the original author has re-cooked them using the tips in this thread? Seems there are a number of resources that the mapper used in his map, but have been either removed or relocated following the Titan pack and patch 4.
The map in question is DM-Razerate. I've contacted the author to see if an updated version will be available, though the map was created in 2007. :(
Is it possible for *me* to cook the map to make it playable again?
Cr4zy
04-10-2009, 09:46 AM
Some maps may need recooking with 2.0, although most should just work.
As for being able to recook it is most likley no as it's already been cooked and you need the unpublished version.

Has anyone successfully cooked titan content for PS3?
I'm able to cook for PC fine by using the methods mentioned here, but cooking for PS3, even using the "-full" switch and deleting all the localshadercache & globalpersistentcookerdata files in my mydocs/published & unpublished areas, I still get the error and crash:
MipLevel_2 for Texture2D PICKUPS_2.Deployables.Materials.Xray_Overlay
Do we need to get a GlobalPersistentCookerDataPS3.upk file from Epic aswell?

FYI - I confirmed with Epic that it is currently NOT POSSIBLE to cook titan content for PS3. Will most likely be addressed with a patch I guess, but not for a while.
