I created a flat bsp object that I wanted to use as a lift. I first converted it to a static mesh and dropped the new version as a mover into the scene from the generic browser.
After this I went through the same processs you would if you used a prebuilt model from the game and added keyframes for it in the matinaee.
For some reason it's not working? Is it simply not possble to take a converted bsp model to static mesh and use it this way?

We need more explanations of what is your problem exacltly because it's totally possible to use a mesh converted from bsp as a mover.

It's very possible as I have done it as temp movers. Is the matinee aspect not working (i.e. it doesn't move at all when you play it)?
Usually movers don't have collision set to them so you may have to enable that.
If you created a "flat" or sheet from a bsp, that might have issues using it as a lift as you can't assign a collision primitive to it (that I know of).

if everything else fails: take a suare mesh of some sort (from a stock package), change the scale so that it fits the movers shape, convert it to mover (or add it as one straight away). now set up your mover stuff in kismet using that mesh.
next go to your bsp mesh and hardattach it to the stock mesh you did the lift sequence with.
finally you make the stock helper mesh invisible ingame by checking bHidden in its properties. (oh, and make sure to set it to block everything)

Take your red buider brush and make it the same size as your lift you created and converted to static mesh...then highlight your mesh and right click and go down to "Save Brush As Collision"...do a buid all and your lift now has collision.
I also found this awhile back that may be just as easy for you.
