Not too amazing of a custom, but I did remove shoulder pads from two of my Series 1 / Headshot drones and replaced them with hand sculpted straps that match the other side.
Granted, they aren't prefect of course, but they are damn close. Take a look at em and let me know what ya think. I may redo all my drones this way to make them more game accurate.
The shoulder pad was never in the final game - although it does make the drones seem more individual occasionally having them....shrug.
oh yeah, it's the two drones in the front of the pics. which as always are available via the link in my sig. :)

Yeah, I'm adding up my drones now...i've got 10. Six with straps, four with shoulder pads. I'm going to try and redistribute the pads to figures I've got doubles of (ie, mainly normal drones and one sniper) to mix it up.
Once I get my series 3 sets (yes, sets), my drone number will be 14 - I'll def give a Cyclops a shoulder pad. Grapplers prob will remain the same since I think they shouldn't be extra geared or whatever.
Getting my Drone Set will put me at 18. Heads that will be used will most definately be the Bolter and new Sniper and prob another Grappler and Cyclops. I will prob attempt to modify the helmeted head to be the mask without goggles in place - ie, eyes are exposed.
That being said, my horde will be effing huge. Not to mention Lakshman and my five Therons (2 unmasked Guards, 1 Masked Guard, and 2 Sentinels.)
I'll be grabbing Raam vs Kim and my pal wants Raam but not Kim so I'm lookin at a new COG for the ranks by grabbin the Kim off him. Someone to create myself - so far I'm thinkin a blonde/red mohawk and blue eyes. I may also rework my Hoffman figure since NECA is doing Hoffman officially and thus, my Hoffman is really no longer needed (didn't that happen with my Raam figure too?! ARRR)
Anyway, the wretch project has been put on hold till NECA finishes their Gears line. We were never supposed to see Hoffman or a wave 5, so I'm closing up shop on already existing characters (except maybe a comic character...heh.) NECA will most likely take this property to great heights and maybe we'll see a bloodmount or something equally as cool :)

Yeah arit you makin a stand for you COGs and Grubs to fight on. Like a Scenery background. I can't wait to see photos of it. I think you said that it was going to have two levals a street leval and cavern leval with E hole and grindlift.

Yeah, I've actually thought it out some more and am gonna try and add some lights in the cavern behind the columns and stuff. It was originally going to be part of a display case I already have, but I'm going to build something to fit in the case that is free standing.
It keeps getting more complicated as I plan it out, but if I pull it off, it'll be truly amazing.

Those 10 Drones you have are any of those Headshot Drones? As I have 5 Headshot Drones and only one with the Expolding head. I am thinkin about buyin another Chainsaw 2 pack for the Drone. I will take the head off and give it a expolding head. Then give the Chainsaw Drone head to another Drone for somethin differant. So they all don't have the Same expression.

well, it depends....the putty forces me to sculpt in a set period of time. since it hardens with time, I usually get about 30-40 minutes of sculpt time per batch. So each piece that I do is either done in smaller parts or lacks real attention, ya know?
I did 4 drone straps at once and had to do that in 2 batches. The first back side of the strap was applied to all 4 drones. I could only get the putty to work with me enough to do the browed sniper (the painted of the 4 in the most recent pic) the rest of the way. I let those harden and then did another small batch of putty and finished up rest of the straps. Doing them one after another also gave some sort of uniformity because the sculpting techniques were fresh in my mind so I knew what I had to do, etc.
Painting is generally the harder part because to get good colors, the undercoat of a color needs to completely dry. Red is particularly a difficult color to work with because of a) it's wateryness and b) translucence.
Believe it or not, I'm actually much better with Locust skin tones than human. I can achieve both, it's just I have a harder time working on people...mainly white folks...haha. Jace was easy actually...
A full custom like Jace or Barrick takes days generally. Of course, I'm not working on him the whole time. Parts have to cure, paint needs to dry, etc. I also have to work with parts (ie, cutting, drilling, etc) to get them the right shape, etc.
