Are they still as good as the 182.05 beta with UT3? I'm downloading now.

Just try no guarantee, they have released previous WHQL drivers with problems for UT3.

yeah, but if you read this sticky

http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=659372

you will see they fixed it in 182.05.

I dont think there is a big difference to 182.06 though. But I didnt test it yet. 182.05 works great for me (finally).

I just installed 182.05. 182.06 is probably the exact same thing just WHQL. So, I'm not changing. There's likely no point.

I agree with So's because I had the Beta 182.05 and it ran smooth. I just switched to the WHQL 182.06 and see no difference but at least it's still running smooth hehe.

Yeah include me in the usingbetadriversthataren'tchangingbecausetheywork crowd.

I never had any crashing with the 181 set, so, is there an actually improvement in fps with these in not just ut3, but other games like L4D?

18x drivers that don't crash? I never thought I'd see the day.

There is one change listed since 182.05 (which I never tried):
GeForce*9800*GTX/GX2/GT/GTX+,*GeForce*8800*GTS/GT/GS:*The*system*
hangs*when*switching*between*performance*states.*[516808]

The crashing was only for Warfare for some reason.

As far as I know, it has nothing to do with Warfare.
The portals are the problem.
Since nearly ever Warfare map uses portals, it seems logical that it's only a Warfare issue, however, it's not^^.
DM-Deck has the same issue ;)

I had suspected that. Thanks for clarifying. :)

Many CTF maps have portals too. Like CTF-FacingWorlds.

I haven't tried these new ones yet but on the beta drivers I played more campaign mode last night. I actually got past Islander (which was always freezing me up before) and then Dusk. Next I went to Coret and froze 10 minutes into the match. My issue may be something different on my system such as my OEM motherboard, which is BTX so I can't exactly replace it and I don't think Gateway will, with me trying to blame it on UT3 engine games as the only symptom. 2 weeks ago I replaced all my memory thinking it was that. The only things left hardware wise are my 8800GTX GPU or my Q6600 CPU. But it only freezes in UT3 and Warmonger on my system. I can play other games such as Doom 3 for hours on end with no freezes. But I think Doom 3 uses OpenGL where UT3 uses DirectX9 (I have the latest version) if that is the difference. I hope the new UT3 update finally give us DirectX10 support for Vista users. I may fair better off with that.

ut3 and warmonger = same unreal 3 engine + physX

- maybe vista is the problem (i have e6300 and XTX9800GTX+ with no freezes)
-OpenAL could be a problem also (especially X-Fi cards with special ram, e.g. xfi extreme gamer etc, i only use x-fi xtreme audi, wich hasn't got that special ram -> no crashes)

= Maybe solutions:

1. Edit your UTEngine.ini

For NVIDIA cards:
[Engine.ISVHacks]
UseMinimalNVIDIADriverShaderOptimization=True
bInitializeShadersOnDemand=True

2. Disable OpenAL in-game.

3. Edit the UTEngine.ini:

[Engine.Engine]
bForceStaticTerrain=True

4. Set processor affinity in Windows Vista for the game to one core.

5. Launch the game with the -onethread option in the shortcut.

"C:\Program Files\Unreal Tournament 3\Binaries\UT3.exe" -onethread

Just played UT3 Warfare works like a charm! Also this has fixes for Half Life 2 as well!
