what's in the game is horizontal, what you want is vertical split. Yea i want that too but i think it would make your side views very limited.

If you think about this logically you will find the answer. The only time you need to look up/down in Gears us when going up and down stairs, yet you have to constantly look to your left and right. Consider this, Halo/CoD/Gears all made the screen split horizontally, and it worked well. Left 4 Dead split the screen vertically and it was a complete failure because your characters' peripheral vision was so limited that it was frustrating.

I've had difficulty playing split screen, too. I'm no GOW whiz or anything, but my K/D on fullscreen in different games ranges anywhere from 1.1 to 1.4 so I at least know what I'm doing, but when I play split I swear my K/D is something like .25...it's really really difficult to play that way.

The only ways I've really been able to combat issues with the split is basically make sure I'm always looking a little more down towards the ground, since it actually gives you a better view of the sky in front of you, allowing you to see more. I know that doesn't sound like it makes a lot of sense, but if you just try to not look forward as much, it makes the game at least manageable.

I also alter my game a little when I play split screen. I'm good up close with the shotgun when I play fullscreen, but things are too fast and small split screen to adjust fast enough with it, so when I play split I try to stay back and do a little more work with hammerburst and pistol.

I know those aren't ideal solutions because they aren't really true fixes, but they are least some strategies that can help make split screen games reasonably playable.
