Slow Gameplay

I just got this game but it runs slow on a higher settings. What can I do to speed it up or make it look half way decent on a lower resolution? Also what does dx10 do for me on or off?

DX10 only really slows it down to a crawl with very little difference, youre better off keeping it off. I think there are some tweaks for the game out there somewhere. You'll have to do some searching for Gears of War PC tweaks or Unreal Tournament 3 tweaks. Other than that you may just want to keep the higher resolution but turn down the other graphics options to medium or even low for shadows.
