The grenades in gears of war 2, in my eyes, have taken a sharp turn for the worst.
One of the first things i noticed about gears 2 is that active down were history. and i, like most were quite pleased. but i slowly began to realized that they were just given a different name. the stun grenade. but wait, they managed to make the active down take even less skill than before! now you dont even have to hit the person! if you even get caught up in its random and sometimes delayed 3-100 foot radius, you get active downed "stunned". at least in gears 1 you had a set down time. not its seems completely random. sometimes your down for 5 seconds, 1 second 10 seconds or sometimes you just never get back up. and you can just forget it if you land on some stairs, or even a floor that not perfectly level.
seriously,why get knocked completely down? why not just a long stun, like when you get hit by your own teams mortar?
Frags. the only thing that bothers me about frags is that they can be planted, and its an instant skill free kill. and that, like smokes, the radius seems to be completely random.theres been times where grenades directly at the feet wont kill someone, and a frag that can kill someone who is easily 20 feet away. my idea for the frags are that they be friendly fire, and anyone who walks by is killed or damaged. same with smokes. thats just my 2 cents.
