Guys, I understand why you are frustrated but lets look at why TruSkill is used. It isn't so we can have a cool icon next to our name. When TruSkill does what it is supposed to, it matches people up so that we have more competetive games. When all those rank 4 and 5 cheaters aren't able to exploit those same glitches over and over they will get owned. The quitting is the difficult thing to avoid. Hopefully the penalty will be more severe going forward. Look at this positively for those of us who play fair to obtain rank. The cheaters won't even know what to do if they can't shield glitch, smoke themselves through the wall, etc.

I think the system makes game less competitive with teams not evenly matched. Some of great skill may not rank up because they lose as many games as they win because of allies so they continue to play against low rank people of lower skill (such as myself). I have been easily blown away time after time by many players at rank 1 while at the same time find other players equal rank to myself that suck way more than I do. Its frustrating because sometimes I am matched into a game of all rank 1 and 2 people but have little to no chance of doing anything at all.

I like the TrueSkill mp ranking system that way not all people would end up by having rank 5 just because they've been playing online for quite a while.
But on the other hand it's so frustrating to see how 3-4 people quit every single match because of they're on the losing team and don't want to gain a loss.
I myself for example got a pretty high kill/death ratio but I meet people rank 3/4 even rank 5 who got below 1,0 kill/death ration who've gotten their rank not due to their skill but to their ability to quit a game before gaining a loss.
So you can't really tell anything about peoples skills by looking at their rank - because everyone who just quit a game before gaining a loss will rank up a lot faster than everyone else. I'm stuck at rank 2 myself because I don't (unlike others) quit the game before losing a match all the time.

I prefer the TrueSkill system over the 'points = rank' system but the TrueSkill system simply dosn't work when people quit before losing all the time.

Just because they're 1 rank doesn't mean they can't be good, and that's probably trueskill's bet to lose.

I find that when I come across most rank 4s or 5s....they are legit good players, though they do often quit just before the match ends. The penalty is going to be increased for quitters though. So when the rank 4s all of a sudden rank down after they quit a match, they'll think twice before doing it again. If you want an explaination of the ranking system, see my post in my sig.

Always paired with 1 or 2 stripe's against five 4 stripe's.

The TruSkill rating system is promising. I like the idea, but the execution can use a little revising. I also thought it was based on the W / L ratio or the amount of Wins you accrue while you play. Or maybe it's both, but I have been having a hard time levelin up after bein a rank 2 for some time now.

I have so far found quite a few really good rank 1 players in public matchmaking whereas I have also seen many rank 4 players who don't seem to know how to shoot a gun.
