I'm trying to help the cause and pointing out glitches and/or problems
that haven't been brought any attention or minimal attention as Gears
overall doesn't need a large problem shouted out a million times because
the little ones can turn the game into a perfect brew too. Here's what I've
noticed along with friends I play with on a regular basis:
Glitches:
-Chainsaw stutter glitch. Sometimes when attempting to chainsaw
your character instead repeatedly stutters back as if being meleed upon
repeat hits of the b button. It seems you either have to run away or
perform another action before the chainsaw...chainsaws. Your character
is not being hit and it usually happens once a night to me or a
friend(averaging about 3 hours a night)
-Ranking glitch. Its a minor issue but it gives heart attacks to
some at first sight. When in the lobby sometimes I've seen teammates
lose ALL ranking. It looks like they are first timers. Usually fixes
itself after a game or 2. Hasnt happened to me personally.
-Instant Kills Part 1. Lots of times 2 teammates gang up on an
enemy with melees and what happens most often is a melee ends up being
a kill taken. It was better in Gears 1 where the killing blow didnt
register from the wrong guy.
-Instant Kills Part 2. Once in a while you might want to down a
player and perform an execution after a melee. Instead what happens is
a double melee. One for the down and the other for an instant kill.
Sometimes its great, other times it kills that dramatic finish you
would have had otherwise if their was another player trying to kill you
that a meatshield would have provided protection for.
-No team chats after death. The system in Gears 1 was fine and
had no complaints. Don't understand why it was changed for the sequel.
-Wingman with power weapons is unfair. So many times a team
spawns on top of a boomshot for what seems like 2 out of 3 rounds. No
surprise here but that team has the greatest chance to win that round
or get the most kills during that round. Don't even let me get started
on the team spawning near a shield :(
-Wingman camera freedom is unfair in ranked. It just screams
lets cheat. Most players hop into wingman in parties or private chat so
they can have a jump on other players if one of them dies.
-Gearsofwar.com stats are not legit enough. Its kind of cheap
and boring reading that I have a high kill streak of 84, knowing its
from Horde makes it lose its luster. Horde stats should be completely
separate as they are in the game itself with its own leaderboard.
-Smoke glitching. Something has to be done. Even accidentally
people can glitch out of maps or on top of objects. 2 days ago half my
team(on purpose) glitched through the security walls in security to get
to the other team. I was shocked and mad it was that easy.
-Bot camera and viewpoint glitches. The bots act wierd, offline
or offline, with the camera views. Put the camera on them and they can
face the camera, face the side, etc. Whats worse is getting killed by a
bot not looking at you. I seriously have been mulched offline by a bot
where the bot and mulcher in question, in a 1 vs 1 settings wingman
match, weren't even facing me and I thought I had the drop on it. Was a
great and funny story to tell friends though.
Suggestions to improve other aspects:
-Stats from all gametypes and timeslots viewable in matchmaking lobby
and on gearsofwar.com. Seriously, who hasn't though where do I check my
weekly stats when they have been on the website?
-Daily stats? PLEASEEEEE?????? :D
-In game selection lobby if players drop the game should search for
another player to fill in, even if skill doesn't match up. Its
frustrating when 2 players quit and a game starts 3 vs 5. By round 2
its 1 vs 5 because the last lone player doesnt want his rank to drop.
-Would be nice if selecting gametype on gearsofwar.com gave a complete
breakdown of stats like your front page profile does for total kills,
gibs, k/d, chainsaw battles, etc. Viewable by time range would be even
better.
-Polls on gearsofwar.com or the game itself before you make changes!!
Imagine going on Gears 2 and in the lobby it asks all players a poll
question. If the community agrees with it 70% or more or after a huge
amount of votes have been cast(say 200,000 or a certain percentage of
the weekly traffic) it goes into effect. Revolutionary!! It also tells
the community we're here to give you what you want. This feature can be
listed under a poll menu or option and marked with a star when a new
one has been formed/results tallied. If implemented I think poll #1
should be "Do you think the gametypes should have their own playlists?"
Just throwing it out there :p
Questions
-Can weapons be removed from playlist or maps if even temporarily for
the better good of the online community? I mean noone picks up the
shield. It gets ignored unless someone is trying to glitch. As soon as
it gets picked up i say uh-oh there goes a glitcher.
Feel free to post comments and offer suggestions but keep it friendly
