Hi
I have a small problem which only started today. I played Onyx Coast on UT3 against bots and it was lagging quit a bit. This is unusual because it never lagged when I was playing offline before and it would stop eventually if it did. What reasons would there be for this happening? I enabled the 'stat fps' command and the fps were going up and down (from 5 to 25 fps). Can anyone help please.

Any Windows services or other programs in the background that are taking up a lot of CPU usage can cause severe FPS fluctuations in the game. We would need a little more info about your system to be able to help you though.

I have an Nvidia Geforce 7300LE but it never lagged that bad before. My CPU is an Intel Core 2 Duo 4300. I have 2 GB of RAM. If you played a game before Unreal Tournament 3 would that count?

are you running vista or xp?
check the cards fan for dust build up as well as your system fans, try defragmenting your hard drive, scan for unwanted nasties, a few things for you to try ...

I am running XP. I gave the inside of the computer a clean but I couldn't work out how to take the CPU fan and heat sync of my Dell computer because it is different. I am pretty sure I got most of the dust out anyway. I didn't want to fiddle with the heat sync and fan just in case I broke it. Because once Dell find out that you have taken the computer apart they wont keep your warranty on it.
I did start defraging but I haven't been doing it that much lately.
