The Chainsaw Is Killing Gears 2

Dont get me wrong I am a huge Gears fan. I have a tattoo of Gears on my back. But the chainsaw in the new Gears is ruining the online game play. It just seems that more and more people are useing the chainsaw. I understand that Cliffy wanted a different game play then just the rolling shotgun, but the chainsaw is unstopable. I have a buddy that sucked at Gears1, but in Gears2 he gets a bunch of kills from chainsawing. It wouldnt be as bad if you could stop the chainsaw like you could in the frist one. Many people just rev the chainsaw just walk at people with no fear of being stuned. Yes you can stun a chainsaw but half the time they still keep walking. I dont know if it is from the shotgun shooting start into the ground when u blind fire of the lack of length the shotgun as in the game. But if there is a patch to fix this there will be many people that would play any more and switch over to other big games as Halo or COD. I feel that this game is more for the people with lack of skill in gears rather then people that have skill. If nothing is done gears will lose me as a big fan.

I was also enraged by the chainsaw for the first couple of weeks, but I've gotten used to it and I pretty much assume everyone is running around trying to chainsaw me. What I do is whenever I see the dude has a Lancer I jump back and that puts me at a good distance to Shotgun stun him with enough damage to take him out with a couple shots. It's not as hopeless as you think. I can't count how many times I've left guys running with chainsaws in my wake by just jumping backwards and layin em out.

Exactly. Every new weapon they added, doesn't promote any skill at all.

Well i understand all of what you guys are saying, i am from the UK and everytimke we play anyone from the USA the lag is horriffic.
The shotgun works (my favourite gun by the way) as well as me taking it out and pi**ing at you.
What are we left with, Yep thats right the chainsaw.

Gears 1 the server setup of playing through our own xboxes was better. The new halo3 type is crap.

I can't wait till they fix the lagging and the shotgun.

Oh yeh, it isn't my connection i have a good connection speed. ANd so do my friends. My mate has a 20MB connection and we kept playing wingman last night and repeatly he had no weapon in his hands. And neither did half the other guys.

So hence. Chain saw it is. Sorry about that.

lol, i played annex with some guy and he got 31 kills by only chainsawing funny thing he got me and my friend so many times and he WOULD NOT DIE that chainsaw would never go down :) also ended up killing myself with the boom when picked it up and he was in front of me lol...he just went down

I made a post about my idea before but I'll say it again. I think Epic should just make a playlist where everyone starts with the hammerburst. No more chainsaw problem. It wont fix the lag and shot gun issue but it will make for a nice chainsaw free game for people who want to play that way.

Agreed. Loved GoW1 except for active-sniper. Hate what theyve turned the game into (a game where only noobs have the advantage). The only thing they needed to fix was the active sniper, so noobs couldnt down you repeatedly until death (stupidest idea EVER to even put in the game in the first place). Then they went above and beyond stupidity with an invincible chainsaw! The genre of game this is supposed to be is "Tactical 3rd Person Shooter". There is NO tactic in one hit downs from across the map. There is NO tactic in running 20 feet with the B button cemented down. There is no tactic in this game whatsoever. The only weapon that ever required skill was the shotgun, and they turned that into a worthless "piece of Taiwanese crap". Will Epic ever dislodge their heads from their rectums? Bring back the old shotty (there was no overpowered shotty, only host/lag connection differences). Stun the saw. Keep the nerfed active-snipe.:cool:
The one thing I don't get is that there's stopping power when youre being shot if your trying to run in with shotgun, but if you have your chainsaw revved... :eek: NO STOPPING POWER!
The game has turned into nothing more than utter retardation. The first 10 seconds of every match are a mindless mess of everyone falling all over the place, while those left standing chainsaw those who are stunned. Brilliant. Smoke grenades should be just that, SMOKE grenades. If stun grenades were so necessary, why aren't they a replacement grenade? :eek: That must be too much for game creators to handle i suppose.

Few things here.
1. Sometimes you gotta throw noobs a bone, It sucks to play the game and never win..
2. If everyone who's complaining is sooo "skilled and non-noobish" how come they let the noobs get so close?
3. Chainsaw dual helps agains getting cut in two.

Stop complaining and start using that "skill" to find a way to use their chainsaw addiction against them. I have.

The only reason i posted on this site is because its so annoying reading EVERYONE whine and complain about the game. If its not the chainsaw its the lag, if its not the lag its the random host thing. Gears 2 is an awesome game, and like any other game theres issuse. Boo hoo. Man i remeber when gears 1 was the big thing people always whineing about the shotgun roll. now they fix that and they start whining that is gone and the chainsaw is too strong. Just play the game, and enjoy it.

Just STFU and play the game and find a way to work around the issues. If you can't handle that then stop playing, stop posting whining about it.

Here's the thing Deminious, if something doesn't live up to it's expectations that it created for itself, then it's going to get trashed until it can fix the problems. The multiplayer is broke like the condom I drilled your mom with when the community was told it was going to be better then the first. We were told the changes that were going to be made, and how it was going to give it a new, more improved experience for fans of the old game and new comers to the series. Guess what? Does none of that. It's slow, akward feeling, and I could own MLG with short bus kids the way they dumbed down the game. That's Epic's problem for making out a game they couldn't deliver, not us. I think complaining about a situation like this is pardonable. If your going to complain about something petty like how the lancers doesn't emit smog anymore, then in your case, you would be write to complain about something so petty and minor. Yeah i do see where your coming from. To me the game lives up to the hype. Unlike other people though apperently, i live in reality, and know full well that no game is going to be what its preached to be. Its like all those people that were actually shocked that fable was crap compaired to what it was hyped to be. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that there gonna make it sound better than it is. And again i thing gears 2 is WAY better than the 1st. I do agree that there are a few flaws in multiplayer. But, not to the point that im going to kick and scream about it all over the net. Over all i think the game has lived up to what they said it would, but again I'm not the type to look for a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow because people say its gonna be there.. Are you?

ha thats truly for everyone but me. one of the major reasons i never use the chainsaw - i cant stun anyone else when they rev it, but it only takes one measley shot from a PISTOL to stop me (literally, not over exagerated)

Look the SAW OF DEATH is easy to drop as long as you can see it coming. If they get you from behind well they could just as eaisly have 2 pieced you. Stop crying for the love of god. i could see for campaign play u would have unlimited chainsaw uses but for online play my clan and i believe there should be some type of fuel source or it should be like the hammer of dawn's ammo system. or they could tell u if the chain is about to break and u need to find one form some dead person's lancer. that would fix most problems with the chainsaw and it would make u be able to put beginners into there place by destroying them easier

when Gears 1 was being played you had to really work at getting chainsaw kills or get real lucky not getting rocked in the face by the shotty. I understand the whole chainsaw battle thing, but come on most people stats are plum full of chainsaw kills . my Gears 1 stats had a total of 230 chainsaw kills in 19000 rounds now i have double in 2000 rounds cause you cant use the shotty half the time. come on epic or just release Gears 3 already..lol

What cracks me up is when people say this game takes no skill now, but every damn complaint I see about weapons is because the said player came up short and couldn't make a kill so they came to the forums to cry about it.

If you keep getting killed by a chainsaw, then maybe you need to adjust your gameplay? Don't blame others because you lack the SKILL to readjust to the different game mechanics of Gears 2.

well said my friend. if u cant deal with it then gtfo. nobody wants naggers in the game. theres always a way to kill ppl with chainsaws .. u make it seem like they are invincible. if ur K/D ratio is under 1.00 then u have no excuse. u just suck sorry.
