There's the Cyclops, which is the Drone that carries the Lancer, i think, and the Beast Rider, which is a grenadier with a different helmet. I think they're both selectable characters in mp... The shot i've seen looks more like the Drone variant than the Beast Rider.
Bloodmount figure would be friggin' awsome, but i haven't heard anything.

I've also heard about a Boomer figure, (not the statue) I'm fairly certain. Which could mean we'll get Grinders and Maulers and so on...

They look like the ones with the Locust, though I cannot confirm they are exactly the same. They are from NECA, have a MSRP of $9.99 and were shipped to comic and collectible shops this past Wednesday by Diamond Comics Distributors.
I can confirm they are not the ones offered to Gamestop/EB, and they are not the same size as the ultra-rare paper weight versions.

Still waiting on the Wretches, too...Yeah, in the interview above they said they'd love to do a Boomer and that they already have the Boomshot weapon (for figures, not a replica) completed. The NECA guy does say there's concern with size and cost of production, though they have confirmed a RAAM which is about the same size. Unofficial sources have stated a Boomer is on the way, though I haven't seen anything official from NECA.
Through the interview he stated pretty candidly that a lot of the figures are produced because they can do cheap variants with their body sculpts. Things like Wretches and Boomers have multiple variants, so they make sense to me. Also I believe Anya and Maria could share the same body sculpt if they just throw a dress on Maria.
I'd buy a Dom/Maria 2-pack, as well as an Anya/Jack 2-pack.

They are COG tags that FoG (FamilyofGears) and I privately commissioned several years ago. We distributed an engraved set to Cliff and Mark (Rein), respectively, a few months after Gears 1 came out. In fact, the promo Gears 2 COG tags were based off of them. They also went to several members of the GearheadsofWar.com. The COG tags were made of stainless steel and strung on military-issue (dog tag) ball chain necklaces while the Gears 2 promo tags are made of pewter.

Yep, those are working. Thanks. I am definitely buying that set when it comes out. Kim's face is wonderfully detailed.

Also on the site, 'Game accurate accessories include Troika, Lancer, and Knife'.

A knife, I'm guessing this will be RAAM's. I'm glad they didn't do a posed set though, Kim wouldn't have been very articulated and wouldn't stand up. Plus, Kim's armor seems more luminous blue than Baird's so at least they are not identical.

im not a fan of neca remaking marcus again and again... use the time to make the other characters!, also not thrilled that i was supporting neca, and gears by collecting from wave 1, then nicer marcus' are released in later waves down the road... i have the 2nd marcus also because a retailer send me a 4 pack set instead of 4 individual figures like they said they were... and the 2nd wave marcus had a broken elbow (the more articulated elbow) so i poped his head off and used him as a dead gear... please no more figures of the ones already released!... the kim, ramm pack seems awesome!. would be really awesome if they had raam stabbing kim with his big ass sword...

Some of you guys should keep in mind that it's expensive to make figures this high quality. They've made comments (referenced in another thread about the collectibles) that in order for it to stay economical for them to make these guys, they need to reuse figures and pieces when they can.

I'm sure if they had all the money int he world they'd do everything perfect, but that's not the case. Videogame figures are still a fairly small market, we're lucky we're getting figures this nice at all. (I'm still waiting on UT and Doom figures, but I'm pretty sure they'll never come.)

There seems to be a tone in a few posts that suggests they're "doing them wrong" on purpose.

Sure I'd preferr if RAAM were his proper 8/9 feet tall (scale of course) but I'm not gonna' spit in their face about it.

Of course Kim uses Carmine / Baird's armor: it's the same armor in the game, why wouldn't it be the same for the figure?

Also keep in mind we still haven't seen proper side-by-side pics of RAAM and Kim. The images we've seen are shopped together.
We know they're making Boomer figures, and NECA has commented on their desire to produce Boomers at correct scale (larger than the others)... so it's POSSIBLE RAAM will be larger than the normal Theron.
When these figures are originally sculpted, they are much larger. I'm not sure the exact scale, but I believe it's over 12 inches. They then shrink them down for production. It's still possible RAAM will be a bigger figure, even though he appears to have a re-used body sculpt.

NECA has also addressed fan complaints of repaints and headswaps. Their answer is the one listed above, and also that they don't expect you to buy every one of them. They want to have enough variety for people to pick the ones they like.

And also, like mentioned above, a lot of these characters share the same in-game models. The Locust figures are all basically the same... well, they're all basically the same in the game as well.

Here's a snip from the interview with NECA's Randy Falk via Gearheads of War:

The cost of manufacturing has basically doubled in the past 2 years and we made a very deliberate decision to not sacrifice the 7" size/scale that everyone is used to. We also did not want to sacrifice detail or deco and we wanted to stay at an affordable retail price. So like everything in life there is a give/take - we knew early on as much as we wanted to sculpt bases and rubble for the figures we couldn't do it because of the expense.

We also looked at the Gears of War game very closely and talked with Chris Perna, Cliff B, Mike Capps, and others to identify where Epic re-used bodies and models in the game so we could follow a similar strategy where it makes sense and allow us to get more bang for the buck in our sculpting and tooling dollars. That is why you have seen a Locust Drone and Locust Sniper and a Theron Sentinel and a Theron Guard. They all exist in the game and use the same build but with changes in armor and/or heads so we in turn do the same thing with some of the figures. We are doing this conservatively and we don't expect people to buy them all - just buy what version(s) you like the most.

All things considered I think a few variants (that are game faithful) is a small price to pay compared to the small size and minimal deco other companies have been reduced to.
One example I like to cite is the action figure sized Lancer that comes with Cole, Marcus, Dom, Baird - look at how much paint and how many decals are on the Lancer - the Lancer weapon alone puts other companies figures to shame.

Urban Collector seems to be the best bet. $24.99 (33 after shipping, for me) and likely to ship after the 26th (their shipping dept is down, apparently.) The only place I could find that didn't have a wait time on its shipping is charging $10 more.

With UPS Ground the only viable option (all others are more than the cost of the product itself!?!) it's going to be the end of the month before it arrives, regardless, it seems.

Version 2 of the 12" Marcus is scheduled for April. If this offering does well, Randy said that Dom could be down the pipe. He was very hesitant on Cole and Baird though. :(

W007. It arrived today.

After the reports of the new Marcus sculpt (added articulation) being fragile, I'm being careful with him.

The blood spatter comes in two pieces, one is attached to the Locust but the other came loose as I took them out of the packaging. Not sure where it's supposed to hook in but it doesn't look broken anywhere. I've hooked part of the spatter between the barrel and the chainsaw top and it's holding on well enough with the blade in the chainsaw wound.

The new HB and Lancer look good, though the blade on the Lancer is a little bent (not an issue, really since it's largely covered by the blood,) and both now have removable pegs that allow them to be pegged, McFarlane Halo3-line style, to their backs, which is neat and means I don't have to use mounting tape anymore (except on the Snub, which doesn't have a peg---forgivable given the fairly small size of the Snub.)
The sighting bar on the top of the HB2 seems a little loose, so hold it by the main body when pressing it into someone's hand. Drone can hold it in his bare-arm hand while being sawed. Can probably hold it by the front hand grip as well, but its' wider than the spread of his finger tips on the armored hand so I haven't coerced it in yet.
Cut joints above each knee help with wider stances more appropriate to being chainsawed.

The chainsaw gash isn't as impressive as I had hoped, but it works, and it's nicely tattered. The Drone scuplt hasn't changed much other than the new head and the chainsaw wound, although the articulation seems a little easier to move.

A few years ago NECA had a SDCC exclusive Leonidas from 300 figure that was nothing but a slight repaint of an old figure with tiny arrows added to his base and shield.
Most exclusives are just tweaks or repaints to pre-existing figures. I wouldn't be surprised at all if B. Carmine is an exclusive with an "improved" paint job, added articulation and a Longshot instead of Lancer.

I also think one of the big reasons A. Carmine is such a hit is because he was so unique at the time of his release. But since then we've had Baird, the COG Soldier and Kim to use the exact same body and accessories.

There is still a chance he may be larger, though. When the figures are sculpted, they're much larger, in the 12 to 15 inch range. They are then scaled down to 7 inches. It's possible, though he's a repaint with a new head, they may have scaled him to 8 inches instead. Here's hoping.

The cyclops rules, ive already made the griphole bigger on a couple of spare lancers so they can hold them. on the subject of boomers a "fuel tank shot flame-boomer" would make an awesome c-con exclusive. Yea that's a good idea, but what I really want, is a Kantus. I'll do anything for a Kantus action figure!

My duties as a member of the Grammar Police is to point out the mistakes. Head shot and Helmet less are two words, the "I" needs to be capitalized, and a period or a coma should be put between the words "know" and "we" in the beginning of your post.

I hate it that they put Marcus in every set. As I buy my Gears in a set with all of them. So I hate Paying for Marcus Over and Over all the time. I think they should put maybe one COG in each Series (meaning Dom, Baird, Cole, or Marcus). I then think they should put more effert in making COG like Tai, Dizzy, Hoffman, Carmine/random COG. I think Then the rest of the series should cinsist of Locust Three of them.

I don't really mind a new Marcus every wave, but I do wish he wasn't in the box sets. That is the only reason I didn't buy series 2 in a box set, and to buy the Theron individually is too expensive so I'm Theron-less. It'll be the reason I don't buy series 3 in a box set, too.
I mean, I understand the rationale of having a Marcus each wave, but putting him in every box set CAN'T help sales.
I'm a big supporter of NECA and what they're doing with Gears, and I understand how they need to do repaints and head swaps but... EVERY figure in wave 3 is a repaint or head swap. Marcus, the Gear, and the two Drones are simple headswaps, and the Palace Guard is a Theron with new arms, new head and new paint. Kim and RAAM will be headswaps too.
Boomers will definitely be a welcome change and will help with the Horde, which right now looks like they're all dancing the Thriller.

That is an great idea a flasback Marcus from the Aspho Feilds Battle. That would be Cool. I think they could then make a Hoffman with the old style Lancer. Becuase in the book he said he liked the old Lancer beater. So that would be an GREAT IDEA.

Series 3 looks like clear winners to me!
I already got my Marcus vs Locust 2-Pack in the mail, and I'm impressed. Every figure from Series 3 (except the Palace Guard) are coming with pegs on their weapons and holes in their back so you can have back up weapons like in the game. So for my Marcus vs Locust I put the Hammerburst V2 in Marcus' back, as a abck up, and gave my Locust an extra Lancer, so it looks like he lost a chainsaw duel.

Also noteworthy in Series 3 are the new weapons we're scheduled to get. Not only do we already have the Hammerburst V2, but the new Locusts are reported to come with the Gorgon Pistol and a grenade, so that's great news for me!

The headswaps don't bother me too much, because, come on, they're just headswaps in the game also.

How big would you say it was? Size of an average adult male thumb? That's how big I would imagine it to be.

Tickers are about waist-high on the Gears, so I'd expect them to be about 3-4 inches tall and 4.5 inches long.

also guys, Raam isn't bigger than a normal theron. Theron's are huge and the scale is right for the current figures. I don't understand why folks think Raam is so big. The scene where Kim gets knifed, Kim is dying...probably crumpling from a massive wound inflicted to his chest via Raam's knife. Watch the scene where the cog soldier is dragged up to Raam by the two Therons. He's easily the same size as all the other Therons.

The set of drones looks hella nice. Can't wait for it.

As far as the Boomer is concerned, Randy assured me that it will be according to scale. Since it will be considerably larger than the 7 in. figures, it will be specially packaged. No word on whether Amazon will be the method of ordering like the electronic Lancer or "Headshot" Locust Drone w/ COG tags set, but I would presume that it would be the most logical choice due to vendors balking on it due to limited retail space. The Neca Gears accessories (keychains, doo rags, lighters, clothing, etc.) have sold thru like hotcakes, and coupled with the success of the figures line; it justifies the Boomer now.

I never thought of that. That would be awsome if NECA made a Kantus with a Ticker. Toyfair is this week. I hope we get some Awsome Gears news from NECA. I hope NECA makes the Grenidear able to hold weapons. Right now I am a little puzzled as to how the Grenidear will hold a Gnasher or Hammerburst. I would also like to see Flame Grenidears and Beast Riders. I have see the Flame head that could work for eather the Flame Boomer, or Flame Grenidear. I am hoping for the Flame Grenider. RAAM raises Kim well off his feet to look him in the eye. If you look, Kim may be doubled over, but his legs are as long as RAAM's torso. In typical proportions, the legs are twice the length of the torso, so that gives you an ida right there how big RAAM is.

Also, at the start of the "fight" you see RAAM right behind Kim, so you can get a good sense for the height difference there, and RAAM palms Kim's head before he punches him.

Regular Theron are the same size as Drones, just a little more bulky due to their armor.

All the figures look awesome, but I'm still not sure about series 3 marcus' 'bare his teeth' look. It looks a bit too crazy for me, but since it's able to attatch weapons to his back, I'll no doubt get this one.

I'm glad NECA have continued with the Gear line. The Locust Palace guard looks awesome along with the Cyclops. The grappler I might pass on since you rarely see it in game, but it still looks cool.

That Hive boxset sounds good, I could do with some different heads for some of my 12 Headshots. That Hive boxset sounds good, I could do with some different heads for some of my 12 Headshots. NECA had up on display a Boomer, a Mauler Head, Flame Grenidear, Ticker, Grenidear cheast, Hoffman, Jaco Bot, as well as the Cyclops, Grapler, COG Soldier/Ben Carmine, and Marcus from series 3 on display in package. I also saw Gen. Raam and Lt. Kim, Palace Gaurd. This is cool. I can't wait to add to my Locust Horde.

It looks like the Series 3 Drones are going to have the same articualtion as the others. I think they are adding the extra articulation in the Hive box set.

I have a Hive Box Set on preorder. I think it would be cool to see the Bolter too. I like the added articulation I just wish that NECA could have done it sooner. I think that the Locust Hive Set should have had 8 differnt heads the 8th would be the Locust Gunner. I wish I could have seen Raam's Knife.

I have seen some pics of series 3 in package. I would like to see the Grenade in the package. I am also wonderin if the Grenade will be able to hook to the Locust. I have series 3 preordered and the Kim vs. Raam 2 pack. I am wonderin when the next series will be able to preorder.

Is anyone else not looking forward to the Butcher as much as the others. I like him for the fact he will add a little diversety to my Locust Horde but He aint realy Combat ready to fight COG Gears like the rest of the Locust.

Boomer figure looks really good, and I'm really excited about the added articulation on the Drones.

They used their big production models for some of the upper shelf displays.
There's a shot that shows both shelves, and the diorama with the regular sized figures is below, above the Flame Grenadier and Hoffman are huge (figures are made huge during production, then scaled down during manufacturing,) and the Boomer looks to be retail size.


Havn't been able to get an accurate read on how big the Boomer is compared to the other figures.
Anyone who was there able to give any insight? NECA said the Boomer would be in scale with the other figures...

I am amped about the new COGs and Grubs. I just wish NECA would make a Flame Boomer as well. I am Extatic about Hoffman fanily geting made. Now the COG Gears need a Tai and Dizzy. Then the COG army would be pretty much complete. The Horde on the other hand has endless possibiltys. I would like to see the other two Therons and the Locust Drone Gunner and Locust Drone Beast Rider. After all the Locust Drone Beast Rider rides the Rever while the Grenadeir Beast Rider Rides the BloodMount.

Yep My seller said I can expect my series 3 set to ship out this week. Hopefuly by the 26 of Feb. I will probally order 1 more Palace Guard. His is cool. I am trying to have one big assed Locust Horde. I have 5 Locust Headshot Drones. I bought alot of him couse he was cheap. I have the Locust Hive Box Set Preodered. I can't wait for that. I wanna get my own little horde going too. Unfortunately I only got 7 Locust so far (5 drones, 2 Therons) but I hope to get that number up with the Hive Set.

Sucks cause I won't be able to pick these up for a while cause my money is all tied up (DAMN YOU COLLEGE!!!!!!) though most likely I'll probably end up getting the Drones and Theron and waitin on Marcus and Carmine.

Big Water - I'm actually going to begin work on a two-level scene for my figures. I'm doing a street level complete with emergence hole above a cavern. Both will feature backgrounds as well as actual scenery. It's a big and ambitious project and I'll most likely keep my photos updated as it comes along.

Also, I'm planning on building a Grindlift Pod for the cavern setting :)

Awesome, can't wait to see it. I've done soemthing like that myself but it was for Resident Evil figures, it was a Street/R.P.D diorama base. Unfortunately that was a while back and I have way too many RE figs to display them on it, so I put it in storage.

I'm going to buy two Palace Guards. One to keep in its packaging, and the other propped up near my desk in my room. The Palace Guard is my favorite Locust and the only reason the Palace Guard isn't in my signature is because it's not in the multiplayer. So I put in my second favorite Locust which is the Kantus.

Also, Neca took a cue from Epic and packed a golden Lancer in select Marcus Fenix carded figures. This not only makes it more valuable, but the ratio will be 25:1. So keep your eyes peeled before the scalpers scoop them up and charge ridiculous prices.

Yeah I heard that too. I anit to big on the Golden Lancers. I wouldn't rush out and pick one up. Heck the only way I might have one is if I got it for Free.

NECA's Gears line has sold real well. I don't think they intended to go past series 3 let alone to a series 5. That's prbaly why Delta was all released so fast. I am lookin forward to what NECA can bring us. I doudt we will get Brumaks and Reavers. Bloodmounts Possibaly. I would like to see the other two Theron. The Theron Guard masked and the Theron Elite. We know NECA is bringin the Gerideirs. I think that there is plans to bring us all of them. Now NECA should bring the Lucust Gunner Drone and Drone Beast Rider. The Grenidear Beast Rider is coming. But I think NECA should make the Beast Rider Drone that rides on the Reaver. You can also see him in few other spots in Gears 2 like when Beaty pulls into Landdown. Aswell as when the Drones got pushed out of the Hospital and they start runing before Dom gets mad and beats up the car. The Theron Elite and Masked Guard are the Two I would like though.
