Well I dont think anyone expected to see me write anything after my last fanfic, Split by War, which was over 2 years ago. I always thought that once Gears of War 2 came out, that I would write another fan fiction. I just did'nt know what it would be about. Well, since my first fan fiction was a hit, I had the idea to do a continued story of the ever so popular Carmines. Since Ben Carmine had mentioned that there were 4 Carmines, I decided to write about the one unnamed brother, which is probably the middle brother since Ben and Anthony were the youngest, and the oldest is Clay (found out by a letter from Ben in Gears 2). Remember that this is a sequel to my first fan fiction, Split by War (has over 14,000 views), in which Anthony (Was John, but that was before they gave him a first name, now I changed his name for the story to his true name) got split up from delta and ended up giving his life to properly set off the lightmass bomb and help delta escape. If you have not read it, I suggest reading it, the link is below this Info. Reading it will help when characters give reference to my "Anthony" not the headless Anthony. So I hope you like this Fan Fiction. I will update as new chapters are released.

Chapter 1
Bad News, Long Walk
"Your brothers dead, David." Carmine looked up at his commanding officer with confusion and disgust. "W...Which one sir?" "Benjamin. He died escaping a locust ambush with delta squad when they were swallowed by a worm. Delta got out but..Ben did'nt make it. Im sorry David." Carmine was devistated. Although the youngest, Benjamin had been his closest brother. They had done everything together when they were teens.
Now that Anthony and Benjamin were dead, it was only him and Clay left, and David did'nt even know where he was or if he was alright. "Well..Thanks for letting me know sir." Sergeant Upton nodded his head. David was distraught, but he knew he was about to recieve an important mission, which would give the COG special data about the locust. Carmine was part of a special forces squad called RAIDER SQUAD, mostly for its daring missions into Locust controlled territory to experiment on behavior, and to gather intelligence to aid the Gears in their fight.
Upton looked as if he had a sense of loneliness in his face. He had been away from home for over ten years. With a pure hatred of locust, Upton was a true Gear, and one of the most decorated and dedicated COG soldiers. RAIDER was getting closer to Jacinto, the last human stronghold. As the squad walked on the steep, desolate highway, they started to talk about their lives before the inevitable Emergence Day.
"Man I'll tell you. If it was'nt for these scaly ass bastards, I could be at home, enjoying a nice beer and watchin thrashball on my couch." Jack said. Carmine was not in the conversation. He just looked at the cracked and battered ground as the others enjoyed reminiscing on the past. Peter Nix had overheard Upton break the news to David. He turned towards him to try and make him feel at least a little better.
Jack panned his head over to the side of Peter's face. "What the hell is wrong with Dave?" Jack whispered. "Leave him alone. One of his brothers just died" Peter quietly responded. Jacinto was about four miles ahead. "Hey...Dave." Carmine turned his head slowly toward Nix. "Im sorry about your brother man." "I know this is war, but it's starting to feel like all of us Carmine's are dying." David said.
"Oh, dont say that, Dave. Anthony heroically gave his life for our race to survive and Ben did what he could." Nix said with confidence. Carmine just turned and looked towards the road. Peter inched over and put his hand on David's shoulder. "Im here for you, man." Carmine nodded and kept walking. He felt like it was taking forever to reach Jacinto.
Since it was on a plateau, there were only three paths to get to it, all of which were long, mountain roadways. "God Damn it!" Jack sighed. "Why could'nt they have given us a Derrik to get up like the rest of the gears?" Upton looked over with an annoyed expression. "Because were Special Forces Jack. We're supposed to stay silent and thats hard with big ****in assault vehicles." Nix chuckled. "Well they could have at least given us a Junker, or maybe even a ****in moped or something." Jack responded.
Carmine could not stop thinking about his brothers. "Where the hell could Clay be?" he thought. "If im lucky, he got the news about Ben and he'll come and try to find me." With Clay being the oldest of the four, he always seemed to be the most responsible and the one to look to when things got tough. David was the middle child with Anthony and Ben being the youngest.
Finally RAIDER SQUAD approached the entrance to the city. Two Gears were leaned back in their chairs at a small guard post by the gate. "Great guards they got here! The last remaining human city and we got two jackasses guarding the ****in gate!" Upton blurted out. The two Gears, both wearing standard issue COG armor noticed that Sergeant Upton had seen them slacking off and had quickly went back to work.
The squad stopped by the gate and looked over to Upton as he stomped over to the guard post. "Is there anyone else guarding this gate?" the sergeant said with anger. The two Gears looked up to him with fright. "N..No sir. Just us. But we have an alarm." Upton gave a small smirk. "Son, by the time you see the locust, you'll be dead. I would get more guards."
Upton had the liberty to open the gate himself. He pressed the switch and walked away from the post. As the squad walked in, Carmine had a keen thought in his mind. Seeing as how there was probably 2/4 of the whole COG army located in Jacinto, Clay might have been somewhere in the area. He looked around at the large towers and soon came to the realization that unless he saw his brother on his way, he cannot just go out of the way and look for him. He was going to be on a mission, and that was the most important thing, to the COG at least.
