I've noticed that in campain, frequently when changing weapons, the worng gun comes up. Ex. I'm equiped with the hammerburst. I press <right> on D pad to switch to the Lancer and the equipped weapon changes to the pistol, which should have required a <down> press on the D pad.
I've also noticed horrible inaccuracy with at least the lancer. On the training level (when shooting at the bottles on top of the car) I can have the bottle/milk-jug *perfectly* aligned in the reticle and miss the target with a quick burst. aiming at a different place will yield a hit, yet if you do it all over again the "place" to hit changes. In other words, it appears that aiming at something prefectly is actually "off" even if visually it appears correct.

The Shotgun seems to lagg when nothing else does.

In mid roll you cannot change weapons anymore, also the shotgun feels useless most of the time.
Grenade tagging on walls is out of control, I like the idea but you have no time to get away from the blast at all.

Shotgun accuracy seems to be horribly unstable when in multiplayer games, it seems like the only time the shotgun is accurate is when you have Host. There's been times when a person is standing still, whether having not seen you or after being stunned by a grenade, they seem to eat a full shotgun blast without taking damage, only to turn around and saw you to death. Almost, most of the time, even with the reticule turning red and you fire, at most only half the shot hits. Seems to be some major netcoding issue going on with the game when it comes to the shotgun. This can be evident when you are spectating a shotgun duel, the shots almost always lag behind their targets by a good amount, even though they are almost next to each other.

*Shotgun: hipfiring is very random,sometimes you hit,sometimes you wont hit anything,it looks like the shots are hitting but they are not killing or hurting anyone
even when you are standing still and the target is standing still it feels like its random,sometimes its the first shot that kills,and sometimes it can be the 3`rd shot,and this from the distance of 0 feet.can this be due to lag?cause you wont notice this as much when u are playing as host.(i think the new shotgun is great besides this,it feels really heavy now,i love the new sound,but i think that it needs a new design so it also looks really ultraheavydutypowerbadass instead of kind of small as it is now)
*Chainsaw: cant kill ppl using chainsaw,im shooting them in the head with the shotty from 5 feet and im still getting trapped getting my arms separated from my legs,i can kill ppl in the same situation as long as they are not revving the chainsaw they are gonna die
its way to overpowered and way to easy to kill ppl with

Chainsaw doesnt seem to have a stutter step (atleast when i play against it online...) Maybe make it so the grenades are weaker on walls or maybe have time to dodge before they go off... (1 more thing that might be nice, make pistols able to headshot people again... Not a necessity but it will offset people running around with nothing but Lancers and Shotties...) That was a Other then that im set

This isnt a major issue but i find it annoying , when i go to multiplayer option set my characters and weapon to golden lancer everything works fine and dandy . When i then sign in again play GOW2 my characters are set the same but the lancer changes back to normal and i need to keep changing it everytime i go on gow2 , surely they could add this to a future update its not that hard to remember what weapon i choosed as my favourite
PS: I know for some game modes you can choose your weapon and guy but sometimes i forget and the host presses start to quick.

Yeah, for all the talk about the Lancer being tweaked to counter shotgunning, it's still a cinch for someone to run up and shotgun you, as long as they don't run straight at you, that's the only time when stopping power actually appears to work.
Approx. 15 bullets from a Lancer to down someone is too much.
Also, 3 shells in the Boomshot in Multiplayer is way too overpowering.
The shotgun is more or less still the dominant beast it was in Gears 1. After all the promises to try to balance it, none of it seems to have really changed.
Oh, and a Gears 1 split screen glitch still exists. When 1 player is killed, the other one is stopped dead in his tracks for a second, which means if you're firing, you stop firing (and have to pull the trigger again to resume). Same goes for running, moving, etc. Why can't Epic at least fix this?

Definitely whenever you try to shoot the shotgun from the hip in multiplayer around 90% of the time the bullets hit the floor at your feet and also 99% of the time the person revving his chainsaw dosent get stunned whenever someone shoots him

I just copy my thread here how ask the moderator.
For first sorry for my english, i'm not a native but i hope every one will understand.
I've played GoW1 for one year almost every day and is the first game that isn't a mmorpg i've played very seriously because was different.
I've very looking forward about that sequel and i've preordered it months ago before the release.
I really try to like the MP, but i really can't.
The best thing in GoW1 is that if you want to be "casual" you can kill ppl anyway using chainsaw, frag grenades or boomshot. (Those are the weapons used mostly that ppl don't play that game everdy day, usually)
And if i want to be hardcore, i start to get sniper and pop off heads or start an incredible 1vs1 duels.
Every one was almost happy with the game also, because i choose what type of game and map i want to play ALWAYS.
Basically now the game say: "Or you play my syle or you don't play".
EPIC forced use to play one only style of game.
When every one start to play GoW1, EVERYONE aim with thier weapon, shotty or lancer dont understanding that most of the time is better blindfire.
Now blindfire is almost dead, is i blindfire with the shotty everyone know what's happen and if i blindfire with the bomshot in close range most of the time i die like many people.
In GoW1 you have to stop someone rushing you with the shotgun from a long distance (if he was stupid) using the lancer and most of the time camping a weapon = kill for the enemy when he take the weapon.
Now no one can rush anything with that imbalanced stopping power and the nerfed shotty.
Most of the time the "hardcore" player can conunter everyone rushing them with a shotty using lancer and cover or start a shotty duel.
And smoke granade ar absolutly the most stupid thing, every match start with both factions starting dance breakdance. And frag grenade on the wall= free kill without do basically nothing.
What i'm saying is that GoW1 was special because everyone choose is type of play style.
Now that game is become the most casual friendly fps ever and even the casuals are happy.
Sorry again for my english i really hope every one can understand everything.

Two issues I have...
First is the enemy's chainsaw doesn't lower (stop revving) when you shoot them up close. Meaning that they simply walk right through your bullets and chainsaw you. Especially frustrating when you clearly shoot them with your shotgun as they approach you.
Second, I really love the new shotgun. The rate of fire is perfect so that you really have to use skill and time your shots carefully, and it is pretty much useless at midrange like it should be, but it can be inconsistent at close range and I mean at a range where you'd think you should be downing your opponent already. It just feels a little underpowered at that critical close range where you could really use the power.
Otherwise, the game is simply amazing. Great job Epic!!! Thanks for listening.

I don't understand why Epic asks, when any person with a brain, eyes, and reaction sense can tell weapons are flawed. Did you not think of this when making the game??
When in motion to chainsaw, it seems nothing stops them from slicing you up. And if you stun them, right after that you get sucked in.
The shotgun needs WORK.. please fix. I don't want to get into the cons of it because you should already know.

That pistol burst weapn is off the hook.
Don't mind the stun grenades. You shouldn't start with them.

shotgun rate of fire and strength is useless, so is the blind fire .. also changing weapons mix up select lancer / shotgun gives you frag instead , main issue shotgun needs tweeking

Don't change the shotgun back Epic it is great now. When aiming very consistant, and good at taking people down. Little disapointed in the snub pistol not poping heads after 7 shots, but I can live with it.

I just want to second the notion that the chainsaw not staggering or lowering after shooting the person wielding one, is a big issue as well.
Also, I noticed a lot of people here complaining about the shotgun being harder to use. At first I thought so too, but last night, every room I was in was practically all shotgun. I think people are quickly adjusting to the changes, it it's not improving anything over GoW 1.

I am also have the same thing happen to my Gold Lancer. I set it as default but ever time I log in have to pick it again. Nothing big but gets a little annoying.

the majority of time when i go to switch to a weapon it pulls out the wrong weapon, it was never like that in gears 1, and the chainsaw is almost impossible to stop; took power away from the shotgun and made the chainsaw unstoppable??? this is a shooter right?

The same I've said in the other thread.
1- Shotgun, need a urgent fix. No need to explain its issues.
2- Amazing Lag in Matchmaking.
3- Downing because of the stunt greandes is too long.
4- Chainsaw, horrible in this game. Noobs heaven, can chainsaw although shooting in their face.
I have the impression that this new gears is really focused to newbie players, and i don´t like that.
I'm a regular player of Gears 1 and i play a lot of tournaments and i like that (despite of all the bugs and issues), but i wont play any tournament or clan game with this new gears cause victory or defeat will come randomly. Shotgun, chainsaw and stunt-somke grenades ar simply ridiculous.

I haven't had an issue with that yet. My blindfire with the shotgun usually hit my target. Aim at the person you might actually hit them.

the chainsaw seems unstoppable, i mean i empty a full lancer clip or a few shotgun rounds and it doesn't stop the chainsaw like it did in the first gears.

just need to make the chainsawers stop when shooting them with the shotgun- so annoying. Strength of shotgun seems fine tho, much more balanced.
Smoke granades stun for far too long. would be better to be stunned but stay standing for a sec instead of rolling around on the floor for ages. i'm sure ive seen that in gears before where an explosion causes the charcters to put an arm over their face as a reacton?

Before i begin I Just wanted to say the campaign is the best in any game EVER. Its thrilling and fun.
There are a number of plus points to the multiplayer, love the new maps, love the new weapons, love the executions.
But..Seriously all Gears of war 1 fans.
This multi-player ****ed up for us. I never though i would find myself playing gears of 1 online a day after, just to feel better.
Issue 1- The LANCER is WAY too good. It cannot be stopped. Its a fun weapon but not skillful weapon. Chainsawing is fun, but everyone can do it and it goes through ANYTHING. Epic weaken it.
Issue-2Less emphasis on skillful weapons. Being a skillful player is basically obsolete. The TOURQUE BOW my favourite gears of war weapons but is now is now too easy and way too powerful. The sniper no longer downs and the headshots are not as nice as in gears 1. The SHOTGUN shoots bubbles, the shotgun was a very GOOD part of gears of war 1 and all you needed to add was stopping power. They weakened the power of the shotgun, and slowed its rate of fire. The shotgun battles WERE epic, especially if you were the better player and were outnumbered.
I now swap my shotgun for weapons as the LANCER is a more effective short range weapon. Epic seriously Fix thisI loved gears of war 1 for the fact that you could beat people if you were more skilled than them, go on a rampage or whatever. I dont feel like i can go and do some skillful damage. In GOW 1 You could have FUN by being better than your opponent, Now the only way to be better is to get your lancer in there first.
Issue-3 Matchmaking, apart from not having the freedom to play what i want, the number of rounds i want to play and the map, and having to play 5 Flipping rounds everytime after waiting 10 minuets to find a laggy game, everything is great. Please epic make some serious changes, or at least give us 6-10 rounds to play with.
Issue-4 I dont feel like i am acheiving my kill. Not to mention That they have A RIDICULOUS amount of health when they are down. I dont feel like i earned it. I wanna make them pay, but instead i am forced to do what everyone else does, lancer them down.
Issue-5 There are a number of smaller issues than this, a few to many to write but here are a few.
- Ditch Chairman prescott, hoffman rules.
- Frags go off when tagged to wall, a bit too early.
- Boomshot should have 2 ammo.
- The mortar, mulcher and man magnum are awesome. nuf said
-Stopping power should not affect side running.
- Sniper needs to feel more solid. Not an issue, just opinion.
-You should get up a tad faster when stunned from smoke and the smoke should last a little longer fro tactical advantage.
- YOU should get stuuned when revving your chainsaw but you dont. the chainsawing distance needs to be smaller also.
As i said there are many new things i love, but why couldnt they just be added. Overall the experience is less thrilling than gears of war 1. I want to be satisfied but i am not. I was skillful enough in GOW 1 to take on two average players with my pistol. Each game feels INSIGNIFICANT.
Please address these issues, because for us loyal GOW fans they ARE issues. Please EPIC i wan't to be satisfied. I came for the campaign, and wanted too stay for the Multi-player, but i just can't feel it.

I and all my Clan (20 members) feel the new multiplayer so slow, so we had to change sensibility of the character, if somebody want to chainsaw you, lancer or gnasher will not stop him, stopping power is null, at least with this two (basic) weapons. The power of the smoke granades are ridiculous high, how a smoke granade can throw you 4 meters , is phisically impossible. the gnasher is useless even to finish an enemy in the floor, we need all this "issues" fixed, yesterday we decided play gears 1 again.

I like the way the new Shotgun works. Accuracy could be tweaked a bit, but please don't change it back to the way it worked in GOW1.
For all of those in this thread that say "plz chng shotgun, no explanation needed." Yes, we do need an explanation, because many of us never liked the way the shotgun turned into a dance-fest in GOW1, so telling us that the facts are self-evident and that you can't be bothered with convincing us naysayers with a logical argument that doesn't rely on your personal preference for shotgun dancefests, just doesn't cut it.

You and many other people need to get a grip. Look for the big grenade usually head height on wall corners with a big chain dangling from it. Not hard.
If you are getting stung with these nades it is because you are blindy roadie running all over the show and you deserve to be punished every now and again. Shooting the grenades blows them up.
Anyway,
Just bring back the good olf hip fire we love in the shotty. Im happy with its current power, sound, and i can even get used to slow rate of fire, but i want hip fire back.
As for issues with weapons. Sometimes when i switch from left to right i take out a nade or something instead, maybe its just me fumbling during the heat of the moment, or maybe not, who knows.

From the small bit of MP I have had a chance to play the Chainsaw seems to be a little over used and have the old vacuum effect again. It's not beyond tolerance, but that's the only issue I have seen.

Not true, if you see a grenade hanging on a wall in close quarters you're dead you have no time to get away from it.

I can deal with the shotgun being slow.. But not with the damage it does. I hit someone 4-5 times and they won't down and they end up killing me. It's terrible, at least make it do more damage

Basing this on Gears1:
-Melee stops chainsaw, but in gears 2 i have melee'd chainsawers and they still chainsaw me... grr...
-After a smoke grenade that stuns a person, i run towards them while they are on floor, shoot them and the shotgun doesnt have any effect... wtf? Same thing some times when close range while AIMING directly at them, the shots go right through them sometimes... it gets really annoying when they just come back at you and chainsaw you.
-most of the times iv gottan chainsaw'ed i have shot them and it didnt stop their chainsaw attack.

Personally I played GOW1 for the Multiplayer competition (ranked)... my only 2complaints were... bullet lag and host advantage. THAT WAS IT! I would have paid the damn $70 bucks for the same version of GOW1 with these 2 problems fixed. You guys went ahead and made GOW2 1080p with a sick storymode new weapons blah blah blah... you made it prettier basically.

Well you slowed down the game a lot so lag is maybe less noticable? Hmm, and host advantage is way less noticable aswell... So, not really what was hoping for, but I can live with it. But lets not cheer yet about the mediocre results EPIC... In exchange for making the game look nicer with a few new bells and whistles, and slower so that we don't notice that lag isn't really fixed, you added a TONLOAD of NEW problems that REALLY piss me off! I'm soo upset I paid for this game right now. How can you guys think that any of these ideas are good for the game?
Aside from the long waits in GOW2 MP Ranked matchmaking, not being able to choose the map we like in MP, not being able to play the game type we want to play (and rank up in) in MP, there is one huge problem here. My shotgun blindfire is hitting the FLOOR. THE FLOOR! The logic behind this idiotic idea is to stop people from rushing into each other... Man you guys made chainsaw unstoppable, unstunnable godlike. So now people rush each other with CHAINSAW more effectively than any shotguneer ever could. Alteast shotgun took skill and technique. Honestly its just stupid and dissapointing. King of the hill is now a damn conga line of chainsaw frenzied skilless players. Do you guys play your own games? Whoever came up with all this needs to get FIRED.
You guys got lucky the first time and made the most badass MP game of all time. Fix GOW1, make it look better not lag and fix the host issue. Call it GOW2 and sent it to me free. Or do something about the fact that we can't hardly pick anything for ourselves in ranked, make chainsaw stunnable/stoppable, boost power on the lancer, give hammer burst more bullets on the clip, and FIX THE SHOTGUN. You want to make the shotgun slow... you want to slow down movement when you get shot... i can live with that... ok, you want to stop supermans, backpacking, two piecing, cornercharges and all the other fun shotgun tricks... fine. But SHOOTING THE FLOOR is like a slap in the face. You know that in GOW1 MP Ranked using the lancer was looked down upon... you know that if you even thought about revving your chainsaw you were called a NOOB? You guys have glorified the worst of GOW1 and shamed that which the real harcore fans adored.
This game was the ALTERNATIVE to COD and HALO... You guys tried to turn it into a strategy cover shooter and failed at that, by giving people a cookie cutter uber weapon (chainsaw) and also managed to upset the die hard fans who played daily by screwing with the gameplay. Honestly.. fix this soon or let me know how i can get my money back... along with my entire clans refunds and all the guys on my friends list who feel the same way.
P.S. I don't want to hear a sinlge response to this post unless you are ranked under 300 in ANY GOW1 or GOW2 game mode OR you are a a rep. GT : DaT Trust

Quit complaining about the shotgun people. Gears 1 degenerated into a shotgun and chainsaw fest and they fixed it. Now you have to learn some skill and aim your weapons. Too bad. It's called survival of the fittest...Adapt or Die!!!

Please address these issues, because for us loyal GOW fans they ARE issues. Please EPIC i wan't to be satisfied. I came for the campaign, and wanted too stay for the Multi-player, but i just can't feel it.

Nope all the guns work fine for me
Same here, mulchers alittle slow to put into cover, which kinda really bad in Horde on Insane.
Also, about the chainsaw stunning, when you get shotgunned or something while with the chainsaw, it slows their movement but the chainsaw is still active, its not hard to avoid a chainsaw, its like a guy just walking into you if you shoot at him, he'll slow down, I think the Chainsaw in Gears of War 2 is perfect.

The whole Chainsaw is way too powerful it would be far better if it was the same as Gears 1 where if u shoot it with a pistol bullet it wud stop revving

Personally I played GOW1 for the Multiplayer competition (ranked)... my only 2complaints were... bullet lag and host advantage. THAT WAS IT! I would have paid the damn $70 bucks for the same version of GOW1 with these 2 problems fixed. You guys went ahead and made GOW2 1080p with a sick storymode new weapons blah blah blah... you made it prettier basically.

Well you slowed down the game a lot so lag is maybe less noticable? Hmm, and host advantage is way less noticable aswell... So, not really what was hoping for, but I can live with it. But lets not cheer yet about the mediocre results EPIC... In exchange for making the game look nicer with a few new bells and whistles, and slower so that we don't notice that lag isn't really fixed, you added a TONLOAD of NEW problems that REALLY piss me off! I'm soo upset I paid for this game right now. How can you guys think that any of these ideas are good for the game?
Aside from the long waits in GOW2 MP Ranked matchmaking, not being able to choose the map we like in MP, not being able to play the game type we want to play (and rank up in) in MP, there is one huge problem here. My shotgun blindfire is hitting the FLOOR. THE FLOOR! The logic behind this idiotic idea is to stop people from rushing into each other... Man you guys made chainsaw unstoppable, unstunnable godlike. So now people rush each other with CHAINSAW more effectively than any shotguneer ever could. Alteast shotgun took skill and technique. Honestly its just stupid and dissapointing. King of the hill is now a damn conga line of chainsaw frenzied skilless players. Do you guys play your own games? Whoever came up with all this needs to get FIRED.
You guys got lucky the first time and made the most badass MP game of all time. Fix GOW1, make it look better not lag and fix the host issue. Call it GOW2 and sent it to me free. Or do something about the fact that we can't hardly pick anything for ourselves in ranked, make chainsaw stunnable/stoppable, boost power on the lancer, give hammer burst more bullets on the clip, and FIX THE SHOTGUN. You want to make the shotgun slow... you want to slow down movement when you get shot... i can live with that... ok, you want to stop supermans, backpacking, two piecing, cornercharges and all the other fun shotgun tricks... fine. But SHOOTING THE FLOOR is like a slap in the face. You know that in GOW1 MP Ranked using the lancer was looked down upon... you know that if you even thought about revving your chainsaw you were called a NOOB? You guys have glorified the worst of GOW1 and shamed that which the real harcore fans adored.
This game was the ALTERNATIVE to COD and HALO... You guys tried to turn it into a strategy cover shooter and failed at that, by giving people a cookie cutter uber weapon (chainsaw) and also managed to upset the die hard fans who played daily by screwing with the gameplay. Honestly.. fix this soon or let me know how i can get my money back... along with my entire clans refunds and all the guys on my friends list who feel the same way.
P.S. I don't want to hear a sinlge response to this post unless you are ranked under 300 in ANY GOW1 or GOW2 game mode OR you are a a rep. GT : DaT Trust

Theres some issues with the mp but idc. I can deal with it, because overall its still REALLY fun.
I absolutely LOVED the campaign epic. GREAT JOB. I could play it non-stop over and over again on insane, it's sooo much fun. I would have bought this game for just the campaign!

I was a GOW1 hardcore gamer, i played every night. I bought my xbox 360 just for the game when it had been out for 6 or 7 months already. i was in the top 800 for execution and i bought GOW2 the first day it was available because GOW1 was unbelievable.
The campaign was better than GOW1 and i knew it would be. However when you get online, it just seemed like a chainsaw fest. I mean online should be different and require more skill than the campaign. Anybody that knows gears should know that you should never stand still and shoot, you should always be on the move. THAT is the difference between online play and campaign, in campaign the computer stands still and shoots giving you easy kills with torque and sniper. ONLINE nobody should be standing still like a computer across the map just for the reason they are not a computer and should know better that snipers and torques are on every map and will kill you if you aim and shoot like a noob. GOW1 was intense fast paced and exciting, with weapons that needed skill. GOW2 weapons have seemed to let the casual player kill the hardcore gamer more easily.
Weapons i have a problem with.
1. Lancer/ Chainsaw- Lancer is fine shooting and what not but the chainsaw is overwhelming. i can still kill a person with a chainsaw because i can adapt but the chainsaw being able to come thru 2-3 shotty shots in close quarters is absolutely ridiculous. The chainsaw needs fixing, badly. I dont want to see people shooting a person with their chainsaw reved 3-4 times in close range then getting cut up, thats just ridiculous, stun them like gears 1 or something.
2. Shotgun- it seems as if this gun is useless to people who cannot adapt, i can still kill with the shotgun, but others seem it frustrating getting chainsawed when equipped and point blanking someone then getting vacuumed in to the saw.
3. MORTAR- 5 rounds of mortar in one round for sucha powerful weapon? Put people on a map with a mortar and it seems like whoever gets it will win the round. im fine with the damage it does killing you if you fall under the explosion, that is realistic. HOWEVER, 5 rounds? i mean.. it should probably have 2-3 at most to make the round more even, instead of having to hide from a mortar indoors because the person using it has 5 chances to "one shot" you with it.
4. BOOMSHOT- 3 rounds for a boom is just overwhelming. 2 would have been fine. considering the boom is working like it was when gears 1 first came out, unlike how you dimmed it down towards the end of the game. the damage should be lowered a little bit down but not like gears 1 when u hit someone directly with a boomshot and they down.
5. SCORTCHER- this is a very noob friendly weapon. with stopping power enabled the person with the scortcher has too much of an advatage. it needs to be dimmed down, or given less ammo in one round, im tired of seeing a whole team get burned by the guy who picks up the scortcher because he has a load of ammo.
6 Frags- they are easy kills now. if the frag is 75 feet from you now it seems as if you blow up. the frag tagging of walls is a good idea, but you should give a player the chance to dive away because when someone plants a frag in the wall and a player walks past, he automatically dies? what is the fun in that. 3-5 seconds of a detonationing sequence would be great for this idea. give the player walking/running past a chance to get away from the unexpected frag in the way. Don't just blow them up.....
7. SMOKE FRAG- this is not A fun weapon at all. A smoke frag stunning you? how realistic is this? and then to be put on the ground for what seems like a half an hour just to be chainsawed by an opponent is quite ridiculous to me. There should be no stun involved in a smoke frag. it should be there to help you get away and disrupt the other player from seeing you.
Either make this weapon one you have to pick up, or get rid of the stun of this weapon, honestly? why would you get stunned by this smoke frag? it is smoke, not a sonic boom. and teams using it to put you on the ground when there hiding in a confined spot from you or "camping" just makes the Multiplayer annoying and frustrating at points.
8 OPINION ON THE SWAPING OF WEAPONS EVERY ROUND- i dont know who's idea this was but i do not like it. i want a specific weapon to be somewhere every round, i dont want a torque switching with a sniper every round, or a mortar with a hammer of dawn. i want real frags, not one ink frag. i dont want a boom and torque to switch off on canals, why a boomer on canals, the best map for gears ever, it ruins the skill of the map.
Besides for these complaints your other guns like the mulcher, pistols, hammerburst, idea of limiting the ammo on the hammer of dawn (great idea epic, that was a huge flaw with the hammer in GOW 1) are good weapons.
i hope you guys from EPIC can fix up some of the problems i have addressed here. I love the GOW series and it really is the only game i bought my xbox for and the only game i play. I CAN adjust to this game and be good at it, but some of these weapons just seem as if they are getting rediculous, and are too easy of a kill for GEARS.

GoW 2 isn't GoW 2. It's noob gears of war. Everything hard to do in the first game is now either much harder or impossible, and everything that was noobish/easy (chainsaw, lancer, boomshot) is now extremely easy.
The gears of war shotgun was the best gun in any game... ever. They ruined it.
See you all on GoW 1.. the real gears.
Oh yeah.. and why no dedicated servers? Not enough funding? What the hell is this?
On GoW PC there was little to no bullet lag... unless the host was overseas. Why wasn't this same system used?

ya the chainsaw is my main problem, its way to powerful hardly anything stops it it needs to lose its rev when they get shot or they get pushed farther away when shot, also my golden lancer wont stay as my default weapon not a major complaint but itd be nice if it was fixed, other than those 2 things its an amazing game

After playing multiplayer for many hours since the game has been out I've noticed a few things.
1. Wall tagging with grenades is bascially a free kill since you can't see them if you run into a room and the grenade's on the wall as you run through. There needs to be a tad longer delay for when it explodes so that you do have time to react. Also, there have been many times when I've known a grenade is on a wall and tried everything you can imagine to get around it, but it still kills me.
2. Smoke grenades seem to be inconsistent. I've had many times where I get knocked down and get up fairly quickly and others where I get knocked down and it takes forever to get back up.
3. The chainsaw really needs adjusting there have been times when I've ran at two guys shooting me with the lancer and still chainsawed one of them. I like the idea that one bullet doesn't stun you as it did in Gears 1, but half a clip not stunning is too much.
4. I actually like the new shotgun, but there are a couple of problems I've noticed as others have said. The blindfiring hits the ground below you a lot and the bullets seem to lag when I use the shotgun. It may just be a bad host or something, but I was noticing at least a 1 second delay in my shotgun bullets coming out.
Other than what I've pointed out above, I've really enjoyed Gears 2 and hope that some of these issues can be resolved.

Posted elsewhere, but seeing as this is the first sticky issues thread, I'm posting my issues here (and I've added to the list since last time):
1. Gears of War 2 Freezes my xbox completely. On at least 1 out of every 3 'launches' of the game, it'll freeze up the whole xbox. way to go. And before anyone says anything - No this is not RROD, musics still playing and animations still going. I just cant do anything...
2. Sometimes moving from one menu to the next freezes my xbox completely. Well some times it will 'eventually' move on to the next menu, but given enough time to make a cup of tea.
3. In Execution, sometimes when I'm downed my screen goes bright red and I can never get back up again. I dont mean I die. I mean all I can do is crawl around on the floor. To everyone else playing, I'm up and walking around, but on my screen I'm still crawling. Hurrah.
4. The 'My Gun doesnt work' bug. I can stand square in front of someone with my lancer, shoot an entire clip into their face, reload, do it again, and still nothing happens. Double hurrah.
5. Multiplayer match making 'is a contradiction. It's actually match 'not-making'....Of all the games I've played online its the worst, faulty and ill-thought out system.
6. Grenades selectively kill people. Stand 4 people on a grenade and see if they all die. Usually only 1 or 2 people will die and the rest will walk away completely unscathed... Impressive. again, nothing to do with connection you can test it with 4 people, stand them in one spot, drop a grenad e and see who lives and who dies.
7. I can't have a list without mentioning the shotgun. Utterly pointless weapon now. In trying to remove the 'shotgun fest' nature of GOW1, I think someone missed the point of what a shotgun is supposed to do to an opponent. Its supposed to kill them, not give them a mild rash. I'd rather have a stick with a bent nail in the end of it, I might be able to do more damage with that.
8. Chainsaws are now virtually unstoppable. Regardless of how many times you shoot someone they don't drop their chainsaw. Well done. You stopped GOW2 being a shotgun fest, and turned it into the texas chainsaw massacre. I also dont understand why me clubbing someone in the face with a sniper rifle doesnt stop them revving their chainsaw. I mean come on, if you were revving a chainsaw and someone clubbed you round the head you'd stop to pick up your teeth...
9. The disappearing weapons bug. Yep, it's back. Not sure how, but I ended up running round the map with no weapon in my hand. (I had hoped this would allow me to use my bare hands - might do more damage than the shotgun but alas, no.)
10. The botched sniper rifle reload bug. If you're zoomed in and take a shot with the sniper, then come out of zoom and go for an active reload, you'll cause a misload. I think this is because the 'automatic' reload is launched co-incidentally with coming out of zoom. This means now you have to wait until the 'automatic' reload starts before going for an active. Very irritating.
11. The Weapon pick up reverse forward roll bug. If you run for a weapon, pick it up and then pull backwards and double tap 'A', instead of rolling back away from the weapon, you'll turn round and roll backwards in the direction you were pointing - inevitably right at the feet of the opponent you were trying to roll away from. For example picking up the torque bow on canals. Once you've got it you want to roll back out from under the bridge, but it will send you forwards and turned round with your back to the opponent. Useful.
12. look/aim sensitivity. I cant get this balanced right at all compared to GOW1. High is too quick and Medium is too slow. Ideally this could do with being a sliding bar to allow user setting.
13. The old 'I cant kill someone if they are in the middle of a kill animation' bug is still there. I.e., if I stick a torque bow into someone or tag them with a grenade while they are performing an execution or a chainsaw, they get temporary invincibility and the torque bow/grenade explodes harmlessly. worse still, If I happen to be stood near them when it happens, I'll get blown up and they'll live...
There was also a suggestion that some of these issues could be down to bad connection. I find that hard to believe when I'm on 10Mb cable with 9800kbps download speed. Zero problems on any other online game including GOW1.

Overpowered. Stun system doesn't operate like GOW1 at all. Too easy to charge with it like the shotgun from GOW1.
Nade Wall Tagging (applies to all nades)
While this doesn't seem to be as overpowered with ink (as you aren't knocked down), the wall tagging can significantly slow down gameplay (especially considering how fast they respawn). The tagging is probably one of the cheapest moves in the new game and you are given a very limited window to escape.
Frag Grenades
Their strength/blast radius seems to have grown dramatically. This coupled with the "martydom" style effect when downed really makes them overpowered. In the execution gametype, when you down someone that is holding a frag, how are you supposed to kill them without dying?
Mortar
I think there is way too much ammo in this thing by default. Considering the fact that it can kill you without even being seen, I think 2 rounds, maybe 3, would be better suited for versus mode. This would promote more teamwork as well (as you could rely on your teammates to call out mortar targets as opposed to just laying down a continuous stream of mortar shells).
General Weapon Issues
The fact that you can remotely kill opponents in execution with boom shot, frags, torque, and some other weapons really makes this gametype more like warzone than it should be. In addition, it appears that if one of my teammates is near an opponent I downed, I can kill that opponent from range. While I get the theory behind this (prevent kill stealing), it takes away from Execution's core principals (can't kill from range). Please change this back to how it was in the first game.

I have problems changing weapons, like I choose a pistol and i take out the right weapon or things like that, Ithought it was my controller but I played in other Xboxs and with different controllers and is the same.
the shotgun always fires to the ground and is just strange..

I like the new shotgun. The range on it is incredible, and it feels sufficiently powerful. The blindfiring is an issue, but overall I like that the rate of fire has been reduced so the game doesn't devolve into a mindless shotgun battle in the middle of every map every time we play the game. Gears 1 was the same thing over and over and over again. Fine for some, not for others. Most people are still trying to use it like the Gears 1 shotgun, and you can't.
I've found that it is, in fact, nearly impossible to get the chainsaw to stop revving. However, I don't seem to get chainsawed any more than I did in Gears 1.
The torque was never hard to use in the first place, and it extremely easy to use now.
I'd like Boomshot to be 2 shots in multiplayer again.
Sniper is fine.
The new Hammerburst is great.
The blast radius from the smoke grenades is a bit large.

Every once and a while I'll have a heavy weapon and use the last of the ammo then when it drops I can't/won't pull out my Lancer/whatever I can't do it until I take damage

shot gun does not work @ all. completely worthless. was behind a locust and l aimed @ the back of his head while he was lancering someone, I shot im 4x he turns and chainsaws me. point blank shottie, and blindfire dont work @ all.
Lancer/chainsaw is ridiculously powerful if not unstoppable.
hammerburst can down you in 2 shots.
sniper is a waste of time. perfectly aligned headshots reward you with not even a down.
melee attacks suck. how many times do I have to hit you?
and weapon selection is a joke. hit the d-pad, it is almost random what gun you'll get.
I love This games campaign, but thats not what i bought it for.....

there's an aiming problem with the sniper, for some reason in day one, i aimed directly at some bot's face while standing in a higher position (i don't know if this has anything to do with it but i'll just tell you it) and i shot and my bullet diverted about 2 feet to the right and hits the wall, this happened everytime i shoot, i don't know if this is with all weapons but this occured to me.
there's also a blindfire problem, sitting on a thick wall prevents you from blindfiring down to an enemy sitting in the opposite side of the wall, and shoots straight ahead perfectly which is hugely annoying because you can't hit anything behind the wall, this happened with the lancer, especcially in singleplayer, and sometimes in the multiplayer.
ah next is the pop-shot problem, you cannot pop shot gears of war 1 style anymore, the system seems to lack the intelligence to figure out what command it has to perform and for some reason zooms in quick and performs the RT command 2 seconds later. hugely annoying. happened with the boomshot, shotgun and boltok.

Sticking grenades to walls really does slow things down sometimes.
People seem more prone to camping with a power weapon when they can fortify their surroundings with grenade plants. Like the houses on River.

These have probably been mentioned before but i haven't read through this whole thread so here are my problems .
1. Shotgun
I'm ok with the shotgun being slowed down and nerfed but blindfire no longer works for me 90% of the time it seems like my bullets fall straight to the ground and sometimes when im moving my bullets land behind me
2. Quickaim or Popshot
Also no longer works not just for the shotgun but for all weapons i tried to quickaim a boomshot behind cover hit the wall and blew myself up this also makes the sniper useless this is very annoying
3. Godmode Opponents
Shots/melee dont register when shooting at an opponent who is chainsawing , knocked down from smoke , in the middle of a roll this doesn't happen 100% of the time but has happened alot to me resulting in me getting killed instead
4. Super Chainsaw
Pumping shots at someone coming at you with a chainsaw doesn't always stop them anymore which has turned this game into a chainsaw fest
5. Super Grenades
I think the range of the smoke grenades is too wide sometimes i get knocked down by a smoke that is a mile away this also applies to frags that are tagged on the wall its ridiculous how far away you can be and still die from a frag on the wall even from shooting it
6.Hammerburst Recoil
I dont understand why the hammerburst has a recoil and the lancer doesn't this makes it very unbalanced the lancer already has a chainsaw on it and is super strong why not add recoil on the lancer also or remove it from the hammerburst.
7. Weapon Sliding
Yes it still exists and im sick of idiots sliding a weapon as im shooting at them with 1999 bullets and end up getting killed because he slid the weapon
I have been a player since day 1 and was pumped for this sequel but i am very disappointed when it comes to mp please fix these weapon problems its ruining mp

Blindfires in general are messed up, you can blindfire a boomshot and kill yourself because about 50% of the time it will shoot the ground just like the shotgun. I killed myself twice after attempting to easy blindfires with a boomshot and i learned quickly but thats just retarded. Same goes with shotgun, blindfires have to work again.
As in gears 1, the point blank shot to someone with a shotgun still does not always work.. but in this new gears that is a problem because now your next shot is so slow you will die and scream _____ lol whatever u like to scream.
Mortar seems almost random at times because i have stood beside ppl in game who have died from it yet i was untouched and lived, and yes they were on my team and it was the other teams mortar.
Chainsaw obviously has to get a stun affect 100% of the time from the front, i understand not from the back even though it would be nice.
And last the grenades, it makes it so no one wants to stand together, slowly turn corners when there is that last guy left hoping that you dont blow up, and hope that the 3 or 4 stun grenades that are thrown as soon as the match starts dont hit you. 30 sec respawn with grenades has to go to.
I also dont like the weapon cycles but thats just my opinion and really isnt a problem.

Honestly I did not like that everyone only used shotgun in GOW however the Shotgun was not broken it was just the way people played with it rambo'ing their way to someone with shotgun with stopping power that has been eliminated hence balance....its not just shotgun hipfire that is messed up its all hipfire its frustrating when you hipfire a boom at somebody because there are situations you are use to doing that in GOW and you blow yourself up because you hipfire your shot hits the floor no matter what.......The Chainsaw is way too overpowered people get stunned 1 in 15 times that really needs to be patched everything else I can deal with

I've noticed a problem with the smoke grenades. On two separate occasions I've had the blast launch me in to the air. The first time I went to almost the top of Canals before landing and the second time I was launched pretty high and when I hit the ground I bounced back in to the air and then hit the ground and bounced one more time. When I finally hit the ground after the 3rd bounce I died the game said I killed myself.
I've also noticed how if someone is revving their chainsaw and I have my shotgun aimed in with the left trigger and hit them center mass the bullets seem to pass right through them as they walk through it and chainsaw me.

The game is great but the weapon balance is not as good as i would have thought it would be. All of the newbies are using the chainsaw in every single close combat situation, and the chanche of surviving from chainsaw is very small because the shotgun does not recoil a chainsaw revving enemy, 'Cause after all, shotgun should be the choise for close combat. Also i hope that you will lower the lancer stopping power and increase it with shotgun.
All i can now do is to wait, and hope that you guys listen the feedback given from players.

the shotguns is now horrible to use. blindfires or shooting from the hip seem to hit the floor and it can take up to 3 shots from pointblank range to kill someone. also combine this with a unstopable chainsawer coming at u and uv got an incredibly frustrating situation.smoke and nade taggs on walls r a bit op.i just hope that epic fix these problems before hardcore fans find some other game to play.

Theres some issues with the mp but idc. I can deal with it, because overall its still REALLY fun.
I absolutely LOVED the campaign epic. GREAT JOB. I could play it non-stop over and over again on insane, it's sooo much fun. I would have bought this game for just the campaign!

Well i really hope you are asking this because you plan to do something about the complaints. I played Gears all the time infact i was 7th in the world for some while. This new game the shotgun is powerless, and slow. Also i havent noticed many people complaining about this but the lancers power has dropped as well. Simply give the shotgun and the lancer their power and speed back please. If not i will have to find another game to play and sell this one!!!

All the weapons seem to work fine for me, I really like the new mortars and the mulcher is way fun.
I think the shotgun is balanced, so is the sniper, forget the complainers this is much better now.

No problems so far except for the trigger delay from the shotgun.
I think the weapon is perfect except for the 1/4-1/2 second that is needed to fire the weapon when your character is not holding the left trigger to aim.
I like how the bullets now come out the end of the gun, and not the center of the screen, but I don't like the delay between trigger pulled and shot hit, even when playing campaign or host online.
Shotgun shoots air unless you're an american.
Chainsaw revving thing is stupid.
The suction on the chainsaw is stupid.
The chainsaw duels are stupid, either get rid of them or make the 2 people in the duel invincible so their gay friends can't come up behind me and blow me apart.

Beatdowns really need to be fixed... I understand you sped up the stun, but atleast still make it so it only takes 2 beatdowns to knock somebody down. Also make it so roadie running doesnt make you invincible to beatdowns... Maybe also make it faster then a rev on a chainsaw for everybody else besides just host??? Might help, idk just a thought tho, so people have some defense against the godly vacuum chainsaw...

I, like many others, hate the new shotgun. Yes I realize that the damage has been reduced so people who suck don't constantly get killed by it and that doesn't bother me all that much. What bothers me is that when I fire without looking down the sights the bullets HIT THE FLOOR! I'm tired of people saying stuff like: "now you can't blindly shoot and randomly kill someone, adapt." If you were any good with the shotgun you would realize that you can aim just fine without looking down the sight once you learn where the slug will hit. This is especially useful in close-combat situations because you aren't standing still so you can "properly" aim. When you aim this way the character walks extremely slow making you a vulnerable target. Fix it Epic.

New weapons for the win. As we had to learn how the game flows when we first played Gears 1, we all must now learn how Gears 2 flows. There may be changes down the road...but they will not be drastic "back to GOW 1" changes.
Adapt and own.
The shotgun was not overpowered. It was the original shotgun, there was nothing at the time to compare it to, if you thought it was overpowered, you sucked.

The gameplay is horribly un-balanced due to flaws with the weapons. The maps are great, the gametypes are good. What sabotages the whole thing for me, and most people I know, are the weapons flaws.
My suggestions to fix that:
Either
Re institute all the physics of the chainsaw from gears1, into gears2. It was perfect in gears1, the range was not as great and it was much easier to stun a guy who was coming at you with it revved.
Or
Strengthen the shotgun a bit. I knew it was going to be nerfed, but it is pretty useless now. The firing rate is way too slow and there is no blindfiring (shooting from the hip) accuracy, it just randomly shoots the ground right in front of you. Give us blindfiring back and speed up the rate of fire a bit. The stopping power I noticed is reduced as well, that's not as big of a concern...I think bringing back blindfire and faster rate of fire would account for that.
You make one of those 2 changes, and I think that will bring back some balance to the MP.

Over the weekend i've had the time to get an idea of how all the weapons work and so far this is how I feel for each and everyone of them.
Smoke Grenade: The added stun effect seems to be right except the only problem i've noticed is that when your character is blasted into a corner or a wall he will take 2-3 seconds getting up opposed to 1.5 seconds getting back up on flat ground. Not really a big problem but can be pretty annoying.
Frag Grenade: Fine as is, have yet to run into a problem with it.
Ink Grenade: Love the mechanic. Great way of dispersing enemies and forcing camped enemies out, awesome tool IMO.
Gorgonn Pistol: No qualms with it yet, rarely use it because of the period of time between each burst. Maybe reduce to .5 seconds rather then 1 second.
Standard Pistol: Fine as is, has the right amount of power to stop a locust in his tracks (full clip into him that is).
Boltok Pistol: Works fine for me. A little inaccurate but the stopping power makes up for it.
Lancer/Chainsaw: Perfect damage range at short range, only problem is the chainsaw. Players can run through a hail storm of bullets with their saw revved up and not even shudder as they reach their victim. This needs to be fixed, most matches have become chainsaw fests.
Shotgun: Hmmm, coming from GoW 1 its hard to get used to the new fire rate but I can understand it makes players a little more conservative of their ammunition. So far the only problem is shotgun lag (doesn't shoot when you need it to shoot), shot gun delay (shoots 2 seconds after you've pulled RT), inaccuracy (Even in close range it fails at accuracy), power (lacks power, even at close range it doesn't have the stopping power when your in someones face, might as well get ready for the imminent chainsaw to the face).
Hammerburst: Perfect for me, love the power it has long range and short and the fact it is automatic (sort of).
Sniper: VERY different to the first gears sniper, no more active downs so that takes some time to get used to. Seems like the only shots its good at making is at targets standing still. Almost impossible to hit moving targets even if you aim a little ahead of their head.
Torque Bow: Works perfectly. The new reticule for targetting is awesome.
Boomshot: The extra round is very sexy and the gun overall is fine. It's definetely a game winner along with the mortar.
Mortar: Love the addition of this heavy weapon. Like the boomshot it is a game winner. If someone on the other team has a mortar and you're standing out in open ground, expect a salvo coming your way. A little over powered but you can work around it and flank the mortar user and prevent its use.
Minigun: Very beast weapon, rips up teams to shreds and keeps em down in cover. Easy to flank around though and take out with a smokie.
Overall, only gun that really needs help is the Shotgun and Lancer. they need to be fixed.

My only suggestions would be to decrease the proximity distance to trigger walltagged nades. That, or give them some kind of slight beep so someone who is paying attention can tell there is one right around the corner. Also, friendly walltags should appear on your taccom, or have some other method for showing their position to teammates.
Everything else is fine.

Alright, first off what everybody has been complaining about:
The Shotgun:
It's too weak. Now i don't want to shotty from the first one back because that was slightly overpowered if you ask me. But it should be more like the one from Gears1, with just a lil bit less power.
Also would like to see you could fire it more quickly when you come out of a roll or a roadie run. I just loved side-jumping past someone that is in cover and plant an active shotty shell on their head.
But most important to me is that it should be more powerful. When you run into 2 or more enemies at a time (especially in really close quarters) its almost impossible to come out alive if you haven't been able to pick up a power weapon yet. The shotgun was great for that in Gears1 and it made you feel good if you killed them.
The Lancer:
I think this improved a lot. Only downside is the chainsaw. I seems like nothing can stop it while its reved up. There is almost no stun/lowering of the chainsaw when you get hit. Plus that the reach of it is too big, which makes it nearly unstoppable.
Grenades:
The knockdown from the smoke grenade lasts too long, you should be able to get up quicker. Also, the blast radius of it is to big.
The frag grenade is has the same problem blast-radius-wise. decrease it please.
One thing i never like about the grenades is the way they "bounce". I would like it be more accurate when throwing one at someones feet. They just feel like they're all over the place.
Thats kinda it, rest of the weapons feel ok imo. But please fix the chainsaw en Shotgun. It ruins the fun from the multiplayer experience.

Firing from the hip with shotgun is pointless.
Aiming with shotgun is equally as pointless as it seems so laggy and does so little damage/stopping power.
Put simply, if you are at a range where shotgun is effective, ie, a meter away or there abouts, you might aswel use chainsaw, as everybody has started to do.
Chainsaw is too hard to stop. Even 1 or 2 bullets in Gears 1 made them stumble, here you can empty half a clip of Lancer into them before they stumble, which in close quaters is way too long. Similary it takes usually around 3 shotgun shells to stop somebody on their way over to chainsaw you, many times after death Ive heard "I SHOT HIM TWICE WITH SHOTGUN AND HE RAN STRAIGHT AT ME?!" 3 really does seem to be the magic number.
Basically, if anybody wants to see how easy it should be to stop the chainsaw go and play gears 1 multiplayer and charge at 10 people with chainsaw from medium to short range and see how many times you die.

there's a simple solution to countering the chainsaw....USE THE LANCER !!! first off if you're letting someone get close enough to chainsaw you then YOU'RE the noob not them in all the matches i've played i've only been chainsawed a few times and they deserved the kill ! And increase the detonation time on wall tagged grenades ? i think not ! why should they do that ?! that's beyond ridiculous ! you have enough time to get away from the explosion because i've done it numerous times ! if you increase the time so people can get away then there's no point in having the ability to wall tag a grenade ! they're traps ! if you walk into it it's your own fault ! put it this way...i was playing a match on ruins and my whole team got killed but me....so i went into a room and frag tagged the entrances to the room and what happened ? their whole team rushed in their and got destroyed...and this happened 3 more times ! what would be the point in increasing the detonation time ? what if you were protecting an objective or something what would be the point of tagging the wall just so the other team could run past it....Epic seriously...please don't listen to the people complaining...don't bring back the shotty power from gears 1 and leave the chainsaw and the grenades alone everything is fine...people are just mad that it's not gears 1

Yea I'm sometimes having issues with shooting people out of chainsaws. There are times where they will get knocked out of it in one shot and then other times I can unload half a clip of a hammerburst into them and they still are able to saw me. Not sure if its bullet lag or the flinch animation is random.

Neither gold weapon holds as default.
Trouble picking up ammo from dropped weapon with gold weapon. Instead of ammo pick up it swaps the gun out. Esp. bad in Horde but have seen it in other game types.
Hammerburst head shots. In solo super easy, in MP damn near impossible. Why the huge difference?

SHOTGUN - I've thought, thought and thought "Why? Why doesn't blind fire works?". The reason is I believe quite simple, remember the "monkey jumpers"? Remember the "cover, jump, cover, shoot, cover, cover, shoot, jump"? Do you remember how many times you died against this kind of player? They explore the glitches/bugs of the game. They keep doing that then they blanked fire in the middle of jumps and cover, and guess what, you'r dead!
Now because of that kind of player we all pay, it's kinda like "because of one everybody pays".
But I do understand another thing, in GOW1 the blind fire of the lancer isn't accurate, they just did the same to the shotgun, it's more like a fix than a bug.
So what is the problem? What needs to be fixed? The problem is that when we blind fire the shoots go to our feet for example, but our player is holding the weapon in another direction. If you compare with the lancer blind fire, you will notice that the shoots go +- to the direction the player is holding the weapon. So there are two things to do, or the shoots go +- in the direction the player is holding, or a new animation should be created with the player holding the shotgun in a different direction, so things look normal. Anyway, what EPIC did is more like a fix than a bug, lancer blind fire was bad in GOW1 and shotgun blind fire was too good, they just balanced things, they only forget to put a new animation or something (or at least warn us!).
EPIC, next time you should include some GOW1 to GOW2 heads up or something, we aren't soothsayers you know.... :)
Or at least you should include solid or more important, consistent animations, because almost all of the moaning and winning you see in the forums (myself included) are caused by the blind fire of the shotgun. We see the shotgun in the face/stomach/arm/etc of the other player, we shoot! The shoots go where? Nobody knows! That's the problem! At least the main one! solve it and you are ready to go!

I'm gonna reiterate what many have said (and disagree with a few). First off, I want to start by saying that GoW 1's multiplayer had SERIOUS flaws and was not enjoyable at all to me. I'm having a lot more fun playing GoW2 bots than I did playing GOW1 online with real people.
What's better:
Shotguns: It feels right this time and playing against bots I can tell you that its balanced perfectly. I think a lot of people are complaining about the LAG more than they're complaining about the shotgun on this thread. The LAG for shotguns online is HORRIBLE and thus, it makes the shotgun seem useless. Play a few games locally with bots and see what I mean. Shotgunning is tricky but if you get the feel right you can get the job done with it no problem in close range in the right situations. The from the hip issue needs to be addressed though.
Snipers: It feels like a real skill weapon now. It's head shot or bust and that's the way it should be.
Torque Bow: Still awesome and because the game is a bit slower, i feel like its not a overwhelming risk to pull that weapon out and take fire.
Minigun - really well implemented weapon. Its got its up sides and down sides. I don't feel over powerful when using it but i do feel badass.
Hammerburst - Good weapon, feels good using it. but it needs more stopping power. At this point, it's kinda pointless to shoot at people as they get away so easy and revive too fast.
Grenades: I actually like the range of the smoke grenade and others. It's a pretty good anti-camp weapon in a game that really doesn't have much in terms of anti-camping. Although I do agree you should start with one, but they should be scattered around the maps a bit more if you were to not start with one. I have no issue jumping out of the way of bombs. I like the knock down effect too although at times it doesn't knock you down long enough and other times it knocks you down for what feels like 10 seconds.
Flamer: It's a great weapon that out shines the shotgun. IT SHOULD considering you had to find that weapon. It does however come with too much ammo.
What's Worse:
Mortar: Too many shots with it. It's an awesome weapon and i like its range of damage. 3 shots would be PLENTY (except for in Hoard mode of course).
Boomshot: Again, too many shots (2 would be perfect) but other than that it's a rewarding and fun weapon. I like how the missiles drop over time, so it takes skill to aim it from a distance. It's not a point and shoot gun like the sniper.
Chainsaw: A compromise would be nice. 1 bullet to the chest shouldn't prevent me from ripping someone in half like it did in GoW 1. That makes the weapon useless. However, GoW 2 compensated too much with stuttering occuring too infrequently. Something in between GoW 1 and GoW 2 stuttering would be perfect. That and the kill animation is too long for the chainsaw. It should take the same amount of time as the curb stomp.
Chainsaw Duel Minigame: A great idea, but implemented poorly. People with modded controllers are unstoppable and pressing the B button isn't exactly skillful now is it? A active reload minigame would have been better: where the person that comes closest to the perfect reload wins.
Proximity Bombs: Make it so people that linger next to them die, people that run through them or hop back when noticing them don't. It's that simple. Right now, they're auto kills. A two beep system would work great. You get near a bomb...it beeps once, twice then BOOM.
Most of these other than the chainsaw and prox mines are minor issues I see. I been playing with bots and they don't use prox mines or chainsaws often and it makes the game a lot better for it. The issue is people don't play like bots. They'll exploit all they can, so...please read this and consider some of the points I made. Thanks.
The shotgun has some weird sort of lag type problem in online multiplayer. When you move the bullets seem to hit the ground, instead of where you're aiming.
The chainsaw doesn't seem to get interrupted with bullets.
The smoke grenade stuns are just a bad idea imo. People just spam them right away when the game starts.

I think the shotgun is the only problem...
Maybe you guys make it slower so you can give it more power...but now it seems like it's lagging...well...the accuracy is another problem...In Gears Of War 1, I could shoot without using the Lt (Left Trigger)...now in Gears Of War 2 If I don't use the Lt...I'll get killed for sure...Maybe, you guys should bring Gears Of War 1 Shotgun back :D

1. shotgun has a delay on the first bullet you fire for some weird reason.
2.why do the lancer and pistol not display any lag when there is?
3. there should be more time before wall mines go off
4. chainsaws should be more affected by shooting (i.e. longer wait till revving can start again)
5. shotgun sometimes just doesnt seem to kill people at point blank
6. boomshot should have only 2 shots

I am mainly frustrated about the common things mentioned; shotgun and chainsaw.
I have nothing new to say about either really but I don't think the point can be stressed enough.
Gears of War was different from many shooters in a lot of ways, and for those reasons, I like many others spent more time playing it than I have ever spent playing a shooter of any type in my life.
The main thing that set Gears apart from others in the genre was skill required to do well. The maps were generally smaller, the weapons more powerful, and the number of players in a match were much lesser than any other game, forcing at least some tactic to be used to have a chance at winning against a good team.
This leads to why I, like many others, am disappointed in the adjustments made to the shotgun. There are a few things I'd like to say to drive this point home, if at all possible:
1- There are plenty of shooters out there that weren't as demanding and tough as Gears. I realize Epic is in it for the money like any other company, but the core fans liked the shotgun the way it was, they liked the shotgun duels that ensued because of this. Casual players could either deal with it or go play one of the other 500,000 shooters for the 360.
It's just really frustrating because I have usually been on the hardcore end of the spectrum on any game that I have played, and constantly having the casual/less skilled masses be the ones that get catered to (for obvious reasons, but that doesn't make it bother me less) gets extremely tiring.
Video games in general have taken a turn towards being catered to the masses and consequentially have been dumbed down to the point that the roots that are planted in the great games of each genre are almost forgotten.
Like I've said already, I know they want to maximize their profit by appealing to a larger range of players, similar to how damn near every movie is rated PG-13 these days, but for once I want a game like this to just stick to it's core, to appeal to the hardcore fans and the skilled players, and let the masses play something else. It probably won't happen, but I can always hope.
2- It's a SHOTGUN for christ sake. As stupid as it may seem to make real life comparisons, I'm going to do it anyway. If you got shot from close range with the shotgun, it would take you down, if not rip you apart and kill you, after one shot, no matter where it hit you. I don't even think the rate of fire should have been slowed down, but I could at least swallow that and adjust with time, but to go any further than that I think was overboard.
You added stopping power (which again, I don't agree with this being done to cater to the whiners or less skilled), and that really should have been enough, that alone would have offset the shotgun enough to make a very noticeable difference in how gameplay panned out.
And to the second point, the lancer. It is extremely flawed for the reason that has been pointed out here numerous times already, the chainsaw. I realize this is Epic's creation and they are probably rightfully proud of it, but as it stands in GoW2, the chainsaw is overpowered, has too large of a reach, and is seems to be the focal point to too much of a degree in general.
This is a dangerous thing in a game, good features can be bastardized in short order by being unbalanced or over used (Terrain forming in Fracture, Time altering in Timeshift, etc), and can even end up making the game crap (see previous two examples). I really hope that this flaw is fixed instead of furthered, cause it could push GoW 3 down the path that my two examples took, and I'd be very disheartened should that happen.
Other than those two things (although they are major issues, in my opinion), I've thoroughly enjoyed the game. Everything else seems balanced, the campaign was a lot of fun, and I was glad it was a bit longer than the first, Horde is AWESOME, and I'd still call this game a big success. Many thanks.

Today ive noticed ive started matches and not had the ability to actually shoot anyone.No bullets are coming out from my gun even thought it looks like it to me and when i try to kill some one it doesnt work.From my teams point of view it looks like im crabwalking and running about.It only happens once every 3 matches or so but still its a issue that definatley needs sorted.

the shotgun sucks at close range they eat a whole bullet and live. umm hate it when you try to charge someone and you take bullets and it slows you ridiculously, fair enough that would happen but its just too powerful for a simple machine gun.

I couldn't disagree with TopShot more. Gears 2 actually takes MORE skill than GOW1. No longer can you just run and gun and jump around like a moron with your shotgun. You need to strategize and use team effort to win now. You actually have to use the map and ALL the guns other than the shotgun and camp the sniper rifle to win.
That being said I understand your pain, but I think most of the pain is caused by lag and not the shotguns power. A near point blank range shotgun shell will not only down the enemy but also burst him into bits. A couple of decent shotgun shells at semi-close range will down him too. Of course, with lag, that may not be the case, but your complete should be the lag of the gun and not the guns power. Though i do agree shooting the shotgun from the hip should be a little more accurate.
Gears is a Pop and Shoot game, and not quake or unreal.
That being said proximity mines and the inability to down a chainsawer removes some of the strategy of the game and also makes the shotgun almost obsolete. Nerf those a bit and you got yourself an almost perfectly balanced game.

You shouldn't be able to charge someone straight up. You're not a bullet sponge. Walking straight into bullet fire means you're playing wrong. What game is suppose to reward you for doing that?
Smoke and go or find a way around them, or...why don't you try not using your shotgun in midrange.

Boomshot: Should be reduced to having 2 shots. If you hip fire, the boom goes nearly straight down. This makes no sense to me. While I can understand reducing accuracy while hip firing, I'm fairly sure Marcus Fenix would not shoot a boom shot straight down.
Lancer: I assume you guys wanted to play on the chainsaw as much as possible, since you thought it was your selling point for Gears of War. I believe it is simply too easy to chainsaw someone however. A chainsaw kill should be the reward for tactically sneaking up on someone. You should not be able to rush straight into combat and chainsaw someone while being shot. Please increase the stun effect to that of the first Gears of War.
Hammerburst: Great job, this gun actually feels like a gun. My only suggestion would be add the possibility for headshots.
Shotgun: I'm liking the tighter spread on the bullets, as I believe it promotes aiming. However hip-firing is now useless. While I can understand reducing accuracy a bit while shooting from the hip. Making the bullets go nowhere near the center of the screen is ridiculous and needs to be fixed.
Frag Grenades: Blast radius is a bit obsurd.
I would also like to add a general comment about weapon switching. It feels broken to me. Countless times I've pressed right on my dpad to switch to my default weapon and it either did not change weapons, or it switched to my smoke grenade. I'm not a novice user, I had hundreds of hours played on the original game, and never had this problem.

I am having an issue with having no weapons in my hand at the start of the round, I can see the weapon and shoot it but when I do no bullets hit walls or people for the whole round. I had this glitch last as long as 3 rounds before it quit, and that was only because the match ended.

Today ive noticed ive started matches and not had the ability to actually shoot anyone.No bullets are coming out from my gun even thought it looks like it to me and when i try to kill some one it doesnt work.From my teams point of view it looks like im crabwalking and running about.It only happens once every 3 matches or so but still its a issue that definatley needs sorted.
Also had this problem personally and so have my friends.

You shouldn't be able to charge someone straight up. You're not a bullet sponge. Walking straight into bullet fire means you're playing wrong. What game is suppose to reward you for doing that?
Smoke and go or find a way around them, or...why don't you try not using your shotgun in midrange.
Never said anything about mid range, nor has anyone else I don't think. It's close range that the shotgun should work like it did in GoW 1, because it was realistic. Like I said, the stopping power is fine, but "adjusting" the shotgun was unnecessary.
And to the person that posted after me - I'm not sure who you've been playing with, but almost every match I've been in has been the same old race to the power weapons. I hate this much more than anything else about the game, I wish in a public match I could shut off the power weapons and host a game so people only had the shotgun/lancer/pistol/hammer, etc to work with. Would take much more skill.
The torque bow actually pisses me off in this game. Seems like it must be far too easy to use judging by how often I get stuck with the damn thing even when I'm behind cover.

Just these:
1. Shotgun doesn't stop the chainsaw quick enough and sometimes not at all!
2. In some matches I connect but have unlimited ammo, I can't do any damage with any weapon, pick up any etc, and according to people I play with I don't have a weapon in my hand on there screen! the next round after death i'm fine??? has happened to many of my friends to.
great game just these issues and matchmaking/lag problems at times but these have improved slightly.

Again, I'm reading people with bugs that are obviously serious lag and people complaining about the shotgun not being strong enough is also lag. Everyone please play local games and then come back with info. I may be wrong, but I think that has A LOT to do with it.
Issues like the chainsaw, prox mines being too powerful, mortars, hip fire hitting ground, etc don't have anything to do with lag and should be addressed imo.
And I also agree with the Top a bit with the torque bow being awesome in this game, however, i kinda like it as the torque bow has serious down-sides that make it a well balanced weapon. It takes serious skill and TIME to aim someone around cover if they're hiding. If you give me the time to aim properly, then you should lose the battle. If you keep moving, or use team effort, someone with a torque bow can be easily defeated. Its kinda like a sniper rifle lite. If you give me the time to hit you in the head with it, you should lose.

1. Shotgun is good Just a little faster would be nice, but still slower then GOW 1
2. U don't get stunned when revving a chainsaw, I would say 90% of the time you just walk through anything
3. Smoke grenades are a bit much. I can say that I have gotten a lot better using and avoiding them it just takes time I guess. Not sure what could be done to fix this.
4. Still have some really bad lag some of the time. I would say 2 out of 12 matches last night. Not sure how host is picked but some people are just not able to host.
5. I have noticed that the boom does not kill or down in a lot of cases. Takes 2 and 3 shots and they might die then if your lucky. Has anyone else noticed this?
6. I have also noticed that when you hit a direction on the D pad you are more likely to get something you did not ask for. I notice this in GOW 1 but nothing like in 2
I really like the game with some minor tweaks and it will be even better :)

I am having an issue with having no weapons in my hand at the start of the round, I can see the weapon and shoot it but when I do no bullets hit walls or people for the whole round. I had this glitch last as long as 3 rounds before it quit, and that was only because the match ended.
Thanks for posting this, because I too have this same problem. So far it has happened to me about 5 or 6 times, and there seems to be nothing I can do about it. It is also random, because one round I will be fine and the next I might have this glitch. EPIC, please fix this issue as well.

1) Shotty is broken; blindfiring does not work as well as it should. The randomness of the shotty is annoying and needs to be fixed so the bullets actually go where you aim instead of directly at your feet.
2) Not being able to stun people chainsawing/melee anymore is not an improvement.
3) The time it takes for a grenade that has been stuck to a wall to blow up is way too short in my opinion. Add another 1-2 seconds on that and it will give people a chance to get away when they hear the timer instead of being automatically blow up.
4) To add to the shotty, there seems to also be a delay with the shots. For example, coming off of a wall and trying to fire will take 2 extra seconds. I have no clue why. Also, i don't know if EPIC purposely made the shotgun slower but that is one of the first things i noticed.
5) Flamethrower is ridiculously overpowered. The damage needs to be scaled down.
All in all, as long as the shotty gets fixed ill be happy with the game. The rest of the stuff i posted about is adaptable. However, the shotty is broken as of now and needs to be top priority.

first off, i wanna say that i think most of the weapons have been improved, for everyone saying shotty is broken when you blind fire, its not, the aim point for it was just moved down (hence the shooting of the ground) Epic is trying to make it more balanced
but you don't get stopped if you get hit while revving the chainsaw! it's the most frustrating thing when you clearly shoot someone with shotty who should just blow up but they keep walking.

Just a couple of notes about weapons that I have noticed that should (hopefully) be fixed:
1.) Gnasher: This weapon feels WAY to slow. I know it's strong at close range, but for every instance I have played the Lancer's chainsaw seems to always beat it. I know that when you are revving the chainsaw and someone shoots you, you are supposed to be stunned (which I will address later); however, it seems that the Gnasher (as well as other weapons) do not stun players revving the chainsaw. In my opinion, the Gnasher should return to how it was in Gears of War 1, just without the "X factor" mechanic which dealt out random damage.
2.) Lancer: For some reason, at the times where I am stunned while revving the chainsaw, it takes about 5 to 10 seconds later for me to rev my chainsaw up again. Oddly, whenever I tap "B" after I have been stunned, my character jerks backwards as if they were being shot; yet I know am not.
On a side note of Stopping Power for this weapon, for some reason there are points in the game where stopping power appears as if it is NOT working as well as points where stopping power is too strong. At some times, players can rush directly at me while I am shooting them only to wall bounce and two-piece me. It may just be me, but when I'm shooting at someone in the face while they run directly at me, I somewhat expect them to slow down.
3.) Snub Pistol: Just a slight note, but is it just me, but does it feel as if this weapon has a slower firing rate?
4.) Torque Bow: This is my favorite weapon right next to the Mortar. However, for some reason, it feels very different when aiming with this weapon compared to Gears of War 1. Although it may be the sensitivity I'm playing on, it feels like this weapon's aiming reticule doesn't slide like I want it to. Along with that, it feels to me that something has changed with the charge time for a regular arrow which has caused me in several instances to fully charge my arrow (on my screen) only to have it bounce off the enemy when it hits them. It almost feels like the charge time has been increased, but that may just be me.
EDIT: All other weapons seem to be fine, however the annoyance of the Smoke Grenade's knock down seems to happen WAY to often. I can be stuck on the ground for 10 to 15 seconds from one or two Smoke Grenades; giving my enemy more than enough time to move in with my only chance at life being a chainsaw duel or possible (and hopeful) support from my teammates. In my opinion, either reduce the amount of stun time on the ground from one of these grenades OR make some form of pre-active reload for the Smoke Grenade.
[My idea for this would be: Give people the option to do an any-time kind of active reload (Active Stun?) so while the player is swinging the Smoke Grenade, they can only activate the stun effect by pressing the reload button and getting a perfect active stun. This would help reduce the overuse of Smoke Grenades and give people more time to make a move towards enemies using this grenade. As for when a Smoke Grenade is turned into a proximity mine, just make the stun effect last for a short amount of time, whether that be for the grenade (as in, the stun effect will only occur if activated 60 seconds after planted) or the player being stunned.]

Shotgun is too weak, and unresponsive. I thought stopping power was created to defend the shotgun? There was no reason to change the shotgun. It's a useless weapon now. Bring back Gears 1 shotty.

I find that GoW2 really tried to make up for some of the problems of GoW, but instead of fixing them they only created new problems instead:
1) Shotgun. Look, I liked the GoW gnasher but a lot of people didn't. OK, lower the power, but then don't upgrade the power of the chainsaw/lancer as well. In doing so (nerfing one, upping the other) you've created a new imbalance.
2) Longshot. The longshot in GoW was a problem because most people played Warzone, where 1-hit down was death. Now, with the matchmaking most people are playing Execution, so the longshot is useless unless you are amazing with the sniper or have no lag (almost impossible at this point). Again, pick one. I would honestly prefer to leave the longshot as-is and return matchmaking to the GoW format i.e. players choose maps/modes
Other ideas
3) Boomshot. Three shots is great, but a little overpowered I think. 2 was just right.
4) Mortar. Five is a little high. Maybe down it to three
5) Rotating weapons. This was a feature in the original wasn't it? I don't know, honestly, because no one used it. Please remove it from matchmaking, it makes outcomes more dependent on whether it's an even or odd round.
6) Chainsaw duals. Great in theory, bad when you rely on people to play fairly. Turbo controllers make this pointless, plain and simple, and I'm not paying out another $50 or so to compete.
I feel like overall the testers for GoW2 had a lot of great ideas, but didn't play to break the game and find the most abusable weapon combinations/strategies. I admit that it's still early and all the kinks of online are still being worked out, so maybe some of the problems (shogun and sniper, respectively) will be worked out by refining the netcode in the coming days/weeks. However, right now these are problems.

It seems every time I shoot someone point blank with a shotgun while someone is reving the chainsaw they don't get knocked out of the rev they just keep coming. I know they put in the stopping power against the roadie run but I can't even seem to knock someone out of rev while they're just walking!?!?!? And if it does happen it doesn't happen as much as it should.

i want everybody to try shootin the shotgun from both gears games, stand several metres back from a wall and shoot just look at the shotgun spread from the bullets in gears 1 its a more of a circle whereas in gears 2 its just a simple point square there no marks in the middle.
Then if u shoot and stand a couple of feet away from the wall and fire, in gears 1 all the bullets wud be minimeters apart, whereas in gears 2 its its the four point square with a couple of shell marks in the middle, just try it out and u will see what i mean. Also the rate of fire is far to slow, 9 times out of 10 ill die because the gun fires to slow. if they improve the shot spread rate and the rate of fire it shud improve the shotgun by a mile.
also the chainsaw is too god like it needs toning down.
apart from this and the matchmatching issues this game is by far the best ive played since the first :D

Sounds like people feel the same as I do. I just hope the pwoers that be listen.
I played GOW multiplayer a lot and the shotgun battles were fantastic. Until the shotgun is fixed on GOW2 then I think myself and a lot of my friends will be disappointed with the game. It's pointless trying to fire from the hip anymore, it feels completely hit and miss. If you aim then it's OK but that really does take a lot of the fun out of it, it's just slow and dull. That's my main gripe, I prey to the Gods that you fix it and soon.
Also, the chainsaw is a complete nightmare. You just can't seem to stun anyone revving it at you. Coupled with the shotgun problems you have no chance of getting away. People used to be scared to run in with chainsaws, now everybody is doing it. Please make it stop.
A delay on planted grenades would also be nice.
And, on a side note, I would like the ability to quit out of a multiplayer game without having to turn my Xbox off. I don't do it often but if I'm stuck in a room with a load of idiots then I want to get out. I'm sorry Epic but whatever moral high ground you’re trying to take by not adding the option to quit, you're wrong.

Shotgun needs improvement. At the moment it's slow and sluggish unlike first Gears version, where we had some really intense battles which were simply awesome to say the least. And the response when you pull trigger is also very much delayed. We can no longer have a decent shot gun fight. It's just horrible. And the chainsaw is just unstoppable now. I think the stun effect was great idea in the first game where it gave people chance to get away. It just needs to be calmed down somehow. Grenades give is very little time get away now when they are tagged to a wall. They seem more powerful when stuck onto something. I am not sure whether shotgun is slow or the game but something needs to be done in order to get game back to the feeling of intense battles from the first game.

The only things I have issues with are when I go into multiplayer options and select the golden lancer then just before the game starts and I get to choose my character and gun its not the golden lancer and I have to choose it every match.
Another problem is that an ememy can still chainsaw you when you shoot them, which can get pretty annoying.
And finally, The shotgun is just a little too weak. It always takes about 3 shots from like a foot away to kill them, which brings up the chainsaw kills again.
I would like to see the shotgun to be as strong as it was in gears 1 or just tone down the lancer and fix the chainsaw problem

Chainsaw is the major issue I have. It's far too powerful and I agree that there should be the ability to make people stumble when shooting them while revving it.
Also - if you have the gold lancer/hammerburst and you go to pick up a dropped non-gold version, it switches out your weapon. That shouldn't be the case.
What I do have to say is that I LOVE it's not a huge weapon rush. Mauseleom and Mansion were huge "GET TO THE BOOM" rushes and it completed negated a lot of the fun. One person got boom and it turned into a "holy crap!" situation for other people.
NOW - As for you, Trust...

I have to say, the chainsaw definately needs a fix, and while i was posting this message i put 3 full shotguns in a players face but he just seemd to shrug them off, lifted his chainsaw, and saw'd my ass into 12 peices and again :(. The shotgun NEEDS a damage boost :D. Im also not to keen on the smokes downing me from such a range. I mean i enjoy that my smokes are useful now but the area that im getting knocked down from is from pretty far away. Too far. So far that i needed to come here and complain about it :(.
Please fix these problems epic. The game isnt very enjoyable as it is.

sorry but im not reading throught 12 pages. this was said already, when someone is going after you with the chainsaw and you shoot them it doesnt "stall" i did manage to stall it out once because i think one of my shots actually hit the gun itself and not the person.
when shooting from the hip with the lancer the shots just go down they dont go foward in a spread, same goes for blindfiring over cover it just goes the the side and/or down not straight. ive been using the lancer since a week before gears 1 came out and the chainsaw IS overpowered in MP. but you dont get sucked into it that bad anymore.
what were the testers doing??

I am a shotgun Beast in gears 1, so I know the distance and reaction times. But the shot gun in Gears 2 is horrible you have to be right up on the enemy and even then that doesnt work. Also, the chainsaw cannot be stopped-- at least if you get a shot off before the enemy chainsaws you, it should stop him, i use to do it in gears 1. So increase shotgun power, and fix chainsaw.

I have two problems. one, when I'm fighting against bots with the shotgun, there shotgun downs me in one to two hits when mines doesn't do anything to them. two, I'm always trying to switch between my two main weapons but I keep on switching to grenade or pistol for some odd reason. but that's pretty much it.

Shotgun needs to be reverted to how it was in Gears 1, it was great. You just cant blind fire with it at all in gears 2, does nothing also lags like crazy.
Think of it like this, what would happen in real life if someone with a chainsaw came running at someone with a Shotgun, there would only be one winner!! This is definatley not the case in Gears 2, ive shot Boom shots at people and still got chainsawed. Also you cant blind fire with this as it blows yourself up!
Also whats going on with running in and grabbing a weapon then going for a quick roll back out of gunfire and doing a back flip straight towards your enemy, for canals for instance the torque bow under the bridge, ive went in numerous times to grab it in gears 2 then went to jump back out and ended up jumping back into the opposition, this never happened me once in gears 1.
Also 3 Boomshots is def too much.
Love the new weapons and maps tho, great job, if we had Gears 1 shotgun, lancer/chainsaw and matchmaking this game would be Complete

The chainsaw is overpowered due to the low chance of being stunned when shot at while revving the chainsaw. Keep the shotgun speed the way it is now but increase blindfire accuracy to the same as Gears 1. Grenade tagging walls encourages camping and people staying in spawn on certain maps such as Pavilion. The pistol seems perfect to me. Stopping power should only slow someone down when they are running at you, not walking at you! Take away the stun effect from smoke grenades, or rename them to "stun grenades"

I've played Gears since day 1 and havent stopped yet. The most main problems I have encountered are:
1. Chainsaw will keep revving after they have been shot more then once point blank.
2. Shotty's hipfire is terrible now. You blindfire and your bullet hits the floor. Maybe increase shotty rate also.
3. To many smoke nades. Maybe just have 2 people spawn with smokes instead of the whole team??
4. Pistol not as fast.
5. Stopping power is pretty stupid. Common sense if someone is rushing you, staright on. You should be able to kill them. Without the use of this stopping power. If the kid is 60 feet away rushing you if you cannot kill him it's sad I see no use of this and it basically makes the game a whole camping fest.
6. Cant change weapon mid roll. Also when switching to say shotty either my pistol or my smoke will come out. And no my controllers not broken.
I also hate that the game is now for the casual player that has no skill and plays for 1 day a week. :( Gears 1 MP>Gears 2

First the shotgun shoots to slow for me and I feel like my shots are doing nothing. When somebody is coming towards me with his chainsaw revd I can shoot him 2-3 times but stil he managed to chainsaw me.
Second the stun effect from the smoke grenades should be removed, people are using this not for the ''smoke'' but just for the stun. You get thrown at the ground like a ragdol and it takes ages to stand up and when you managed to stand up there is you opponent standing right in front of you for a chainsaw kill.
Third Stopping power is really stupid! Common sense if someone is rushing you, straight on it should be a very easy kill.
I don't see anything plus on the stopping power

I agree about the shotgun.I'm not saying it should be as powerful as in gears one but it needs some tweaking.IMO if you run up behind somebody without them hearing you and you shoot them in the back,even if it's firing from the hip,it should be an instant kill.It's very annoying when they turn around and end up killing you instead.
Firing from the hip with the shotgun at close quarters IS too weak.
Stopping power is off as some people say.Running at them is fair enough but it's now too hard to roll away from somebody shooting you with the lancer.As soon as you try to roll you get stopped and they can basically down you there and then.It should allow you to roll to the side to get out of the line of fire.
I've also had issues when trying to swap my weapons.

Where to start...
When switching weapons like imperial said the wrong weapon will be drawn. Also my controller is not broken.
Quick shots (quick zoom then shoot) with the shotgun results in a huge delayed shot.
The new use of nades as a proximity is turning game modes into a purely defensive victory.
The chainsaw is NOTHING short of ignorant. I must of missed the logic where people should be rewarded for pressing one button as apposed to those who learn game mechanics and use muscle memory. It's range is insane and cannot be stopped by a NON active shotgun. I don't know what audience this game was meant to cater to but it seems as if it was made for the elderly who are only capable of limited motor skills such as holding B.

I agree with everyone that, as stated, the chainsaw (note: chainsaw, NOT lancer in general) needs the big 'ol nerf as, as it is now, can not and will not be stopped.
I like the gow2 shotty much more than the first, however several things like bullet inconsistency, hip fire randomness and damage inconsistency seem to hold it back.
If I am behind cover I should not EVER be stunned. Do this + kill the stun radius and we're good.
Also, if you're not going to make frags weaker, make their detonation time longer so I can trip them on walls and then run away.

Wow people really need to stop *****ing about an almost perfect game. For the kid who said u had to be high ranked to comment here. STFU, im ranked 20 in submission 40 in koth and 55 in annex so gtfo. As for the few issues here they are:
Shotgun: Is fine, it should not be the primary weapon in gears of war. it works fine, give it about a month and you'll be one shotting kids no problem, im doing it already.
Lancer: the lancer bullet damage is a little on the weak side, it needs to be upped a littlebit.
Gnasher: the pistol is fine, it shoots as fast as i can pull the trigger (very fast) the damage has just been nerfed. so get out with ur noob pistol beatdowns.
Nades: Prox tagging walls with smokes and frags is just gay.
Power weapons: are fine, rotating swaps are good for matchmaking because now you don't have 4 people trying to whore the sniper or torque every round.
Chainsaw: This is the only big problem, there are times when the chainsawer either a) takes a **** load of damage just to hold be and kill you, b) roadie run right past u and hold b and kill you, c) actually chase u into a corner with it revved and u shot him and then he still chainsaws you. or d) get up after being completety stunned and saw you. bring the chainsaw back from gow1 that was a lot better.
Connections: idk if they can do anything about it, but it sucks when 1 our of every 5 games is laggy to the point of being unplayable.
Rank system: No clue how it works lol.
Other than that its a very good game, a few minor tweaks and its goty year potential.

I like the gow2 shotty much more than the first, however several things like bullet inconsistency, hip fire randomness and damage inconsistency seem to hold it back.
I think you've hit the nail on the head there.It's just not consistent.At least in the first it was.
Im getting used to the slower fire rate,which is fine if you ask me,but you cant get used to the weapon if the way it works isn't the same all the time.

I have an issue with the nades. Nade tagging walls makes ruins the game play that started GOW. Cliffy B in his first video about GOW 1 said the whole idea was to get around to the sides or behind your enemy it kill them. Now with tagging the walls makes that impossible. The smoke grenade needs to be changed either in name or back to the style of GOW 1. Its a stun grenade now, not a smoke.

The shotgun is needs blindfire adjustments. Speed is debatable, as everything is slower now (movement, dodging, etc)
The lancer chainsaw is way too easy to land, and way too hard to interrupt ( by far the easiest & most important weapon fix to adjust right now)
Knockdowns from smoke grenades look pretty stupid, to see your character fall around like a ragdall (ragdoll animation) just looks goofy and out-dated, and very unrealistic. A stun (like the oldschool stun from Gow 1, when you got meleed etc) would look better & provide the same effect.
Boomshot, 3 shots is alot.. its debatable if it should be lowerd or not, but something to keep an eye on.
Thats really about it. Mostly chainsaw, and blindfire adjustments. Anything else is debatable. Cuz you gotta keep in mind the whole game itself is slower.

i ran accross new canals map, snuck up on sniper.
had shotty equiped:: walked up to him, aimed with L trigger, cursor went red, shot him in the head.. and... and.. and.. NOTHING
he turned around and hit me
it took two more shots to finish him off
now i realize GOW isnt the most realistic but a shotgun point blank to the head is a shotgun point blank to the head

Chainsaw
The Chainsaw is overpowered and overused. There was a similar problem like this in Gears of War 1, though it was fixed. I feel as though the current version of the chainsaw in Gears of War 1 is suitable for Gears of War 2. What I experience is players constantly using the chainsaw because it trumps every other weapon. If anything, a faster stun on someone chainsawing would make battles much less annoying ... and much less predictable.
Just want to finish up on the chainsaw by saying that I've had players chase me from one side of the map to the other with just the intention of chainsawing me. That's just ... not Gears in my opinion.
Shotgun
I'd just like it to be confirmed that this weapon doesn't randomly shoot at the ground when not scoping. Besides that, I feel like the shotgun is fine. I like that battles are more of a progression in Gears of War 2, rather than the shotgun first mindset of Gears of War 1.
Grenades
The only gripe I have with the grenades is that the blast radius is too far.
Mortar
With the mortar, I believe just one thing should be looked at: ammo. If players are just going to be sitting and firing behind a wall, they should have less ammo so they aren't able to do that for most of the round (which at times may not even be that long because they've one-hit everyone).

Grenades:
Do not change them! They are perfect. Doubling a smoke and a stun grenade is probably one of the best decisions in Weapon design. The ability to stun enemies in the area and force them to move away from the point of impact add so much more strategic elements to game play especially in modes like King of the Hill. Now that Im using the new grenades, I cant see how I lived without them in Gears 1. Being able to attach grenades to walls only add to the game. Epic, please do not remove this feature just because some players are going to Mal adjustment syndrome.
Chain saw:
The only problem I see here is that at close range, shotgun should lower a chainsaw in 1 hit and sometimes it doesnt happen. I think most people are complaining because they're losing against the chainsaw with a shot gun, its more of a testament to shotgun problems rather than the chainsaw being overpowered.

Shotgun:
-It is very inaccurate when moving and shooting. How is the game supposed to be competitive if you can only effectively use the shotgun while standing still holding down the L-Trigger?
-The damage has to be increased a bit too...3 shots from 5 feet away just to down someone is rediculous
Chainsaw:
-Increase the time it takes to fully rev the chainsaw...it is as quick as a melee
-Make it 1 shot to stun a revved chainsaw
Snub Pistol:
-As of now, there is no use for the snub with the new hammerburst. It does half the damage and can only be fired at the same speed.
-Bring back the ability to headshot
Torque:
-Fix blast radius: when enemies are 2 feet apart and one gets stuck with a torque, the other one doesn't dies, however, when an active torque is shot at cover near an enemy he dies.

I have my controller sensitivity set like this:
Look - high
Aim - medium
Zoom - low
When I switch to pistol, zoom, and then switch to another weapon, I get stuck on low sensitivity. When I switch back to pistol and aim, it's already zoomed in. If I then un-zoom, I can get my high/medium sensitivity back with other weapons.

Walltagging is fine too, learn to deal. Pause and look around the corner, don't just freakin roadie everywhere. Especially if you are flanking -- you HAVE to know they will be planting, so spot the mines and shoot them.
Chainsaw.... if you're close enough to get sawed, you already fcked up.
You're all making a big stink about falling for some of the most OBVIOUS tactics, it's clear this is just a crowd of people who cannot or won't learn new tricks. Chainsaw is too easy and shotgun is too laggy, but mostly I see a bunch of kids complaining that you can no longer roadie up to people and dance.

I registered so that I could also place a complaint about the chainsaw. The problem which has clearly been written out by others is that the chainsaw will not shut off after being shot at. I just don't see how that is realistic in any sense. People who walk around with the chainsaw revved are like the energizer bunny they just keep walking toward you even if they are being shot at by lancers from three different people. Well what ever the case is I would just like to know if this is intentional.

Shotgun: The rate of fire is extremely slow and the damage seems to be very inconsistent, unless you are hiding a certain technique from us. The blind fire simply doesn't work. It's just so random and inaccurate.
Frag grenades: They have a HUGE blast radius, and blow up in half the time giving you virtually no warning besides a quick little 'beep'. They need to be toned down as they are possibly now the biggest power weapon on the game, and they are available in your own spawn on most maps.
Smoke grenades: Simply ridiculous. The stunning idea could've worked well if you kept the normal stun from GoW1. Getting chucked on the floor for 5 seconds is very annoying, and if you get 5 thrown at you one after another, that's 25 seconds doing nothing.
Also, sticking nades to wall is stupid. Either take it away completely, or at least provide a better warning or allow them to be blown up after 1 or 2 shots instead of a whole clip.

I agree with almost everything here, but a well placed walltag you can't do anything about. due to the fact that this is a 3rd person game and the camera is behind your character. This game was not built for prox mines that blow up instantly like they do. There should be a buffer time so you can hop out of the way.
Cliffy and his crew would definitely have to rethink the entire game in order to implement the walltag concept well. There's too many spots in most maps to hide the little things that are insta-death. If they blinked or made a beep sound, that would be cool. And also, the whole wall tag thing isn't necessary. Shotties and stopping power have successfully neutrallized the overly aggresive gow1 play very well in my opinion so there's a fair fight between the aggressor and the defender. Adding walltags gives the defender way too much of an advantage.
I see that Epic wanted to compensate for GOW1's issues, but with walltags they overcompensated. Your characters too slow and the bombs radius and explosive speed is too fast. Spending the extra 10 seconds to shoot the bomb not only puts you in a bad position but also gives away your strategy. You lose if you do and you lose if you don't...if you go the other way around the mines, you'll be doing exactly what they want you to do. so, you might as well put a mine up yourself and hunker down and let the time expire.

The wall frags should stick out as much as a person that is hiding behind the wall does, so I can shoot the thing without having to be 90 degrees away from it. If you're not paying attention or playing too aggressively, you'll get tagged, but too many times I'm stuck trying to figure out some way around it because trying to take out the grenade will expose me anyway.

EPIC: You made a wonderful game. I love it.. but it needs work. Here are the guns that need fixing and other stuff.
Shotgun: Okay I know that you dont want the shotty to be like gears of war. All I ask is that you guys fix the blindfire and the speed of the shotty. I mean when ever you shoot it takes like a 4 second stall between every pump. some times it doesn't even shoot. Also for the blindfires when even you do it hits the floor dead on. [The power of shotty doesn't have to be like gears 1. Just make it faster]
Lancer/ Chainsaw: I love the lancer. The power of it is fine. Just that you need to fix the chainsaw. When ever I have my shotty out and shoot a guy revving there chainsaw near me, It NEVER stuns them... then i get chainsawed. That needs to be fixed.
Stun/ Smoke Grenades: I love the idea.. but the blast radius is too much for the knocking down. All I have to say it should be lowered. If not no biggie.
Okay lets recap, since i made a long list. The main thing that I ask for is for you guys to fix the shotgun speed. Make it as fast but not as strong as the gears of war 1 shotty

My only suggestion is to fix the accuracy of the shotgun, like everyone else has already stated.
But my main problem is how fast the grenades explode when they are tagged to walls. When they are thrown, we get a 3 beep warning. Why can't we get that warning when it's on the wall?

Problem: The shotgun shooting the floor when you blindfire it while moving is the main problem with the shotgun. This means you are unable to defend yourself from the chainsaw as it means you have to stand still to stun him which if you miss due to the inconsistent spread you will be sawed for sure. Making a close range weapons worse at close range seems to be an odd choice. Unless it was intended for the Lancer to be best starter weapon at all ranges.
Possible Solution: The Gears 1 shotgun with the slower fire rate would be perfect or just fix the blindfire which is essentially the same thing.
Problem: Smoke grenades. I've been stuck inside the flamethrower bridge on ruins many times because the blast of the smokes during the initial rush. The smokes seem way overpowered due to the fact they rag doll you to be a starting weapon. Many matches are rush to power weapon (boomshot) 6-10 smokes thrown at it which ever team gets up first and grabs the power weapon wins. Gameplay deteriorates into mindless rushing which is what the developers I assume intended to stop from the first game.
Possible Solution: Bring back the Gears 1 smokes as the starter weapon and make stun grenades (no smoke) as a pickup weapon. Also I would like that if you are in cover you are not stunned by them outside of being directly near them much like the stun of the frags in Gears 1. It allows you to stay in cover to defend a power weapon (example boomshot on gridlock instead of having to rush because the smoke will rag doll you when thrown near you even though you are behind the cars so you can't defend the power weapon.
Problem: The Chainsaw it is way overpowered at close range and is unavoidable at times. Requiring a lot of damage to stun them means they can just rush through and wall bounce near you then instant charge and saw you.
Solution: PLEASE bring back the one bullet stun. This makes trying to chainsaw at close range risk vs. reward instead of just reward. Slowing the charge up time on the chainsaw much like the first game would also be great. The chainsaw was not a bad weapon in the first game. Just no one would use it because they wouldn't have the lancer out. You have made the game less laggy and given the Lancer stopping power as well as completely nerfed the shotgun (for now). People will still have plenty of opportunities to use it and have fun there was no need to buff the chainsaw as well.

Here is an idea, you should make two different grenades a smoke and a stun. Smokes were very effective in gow1 as they were, now they are just amazing and the stun effect is so overpowering. So instead of starting out with a smoke maybe on river for example instead of nades at spawn you have smokes so each team has access to just one.
They need to fix the blast radius of smokes and nades. Also the time it takes to blow up a nade and smoke like right when you walk past a nade stuck to the wall your basically guaranteed death. Nades and Smokes are very overpowering!
Chainsaw is obvious, it ruins ranked and everyone hates it. People should get stunned after getting hit.
Shotgun- most of the time when you go to blindfire it hits the floor and that needs to be fixed it gets frustrating. Also the shotgun is very inconsistent.
Other Things
Host- Should pick who ever has the best connection
Private rooms- There should be real private matches not join able ones.
Loading Screens- there are way to many and most of them are unnecessary
Pause - I hate that it pauses the game every time you open the blade
Power to boot midmatch in privates

Ok, I have played quite a bit of multiplayer now, and I will only list the BIG problems:
Smoke Grenades:
These are out of control. Have testers play a public King game and see what people do. The hill is constantly hit with smokes followed by a barrage of revved chainsaws. If gets old and frustrating because you cannot capture the hill for more than 5 seconds at a time. Smokes are mainly a problem in gametypes with respawns, but are powerful enough to be abstracted as a pickup weapon. Make smoke grenades simply provide smoke because that is also very useful.
SHOTGUN/LANCER:
These are currently unbalanced and one if not both needs some fixing. Shotgun should shoot when you pull the trigger and the hip-fire/blind-fire absolutely has to work. Lancer needs to be stunned easier when the chainsaw is revved. Chainsaw battles happen way too often when they should not. They should only happen if two people have fully revved saws. Stopping power on the lancer should be toned down if you are rolling to the side or strafing.
Boomshot could really be reduced to 2 clips, and stopping power with scorcher needs to be toned down or reduce the gas in it a LOT.
Currently, the game is too simple and it is quite frankly too easy to get kills and too easy to die.

I don't know where else to put this, but in Horde mode something is wrong with the shield: if you place the shield down the locust are unable to kick it down or jump over it. This makes for some pretty lame tactics that allow you to beat the horde when you otherwise wouldn't have been able to. Either the shield is bugged towards the AI or the AI itself is incompetent.

CHAINSAW: WAYYYYYYY TO OVERPOWERED. I don't mind the stopping power, or people shooting me with it in general. I just hate when people take point blanks and don't get stunned, and chainsaw you. It's really annoying.
WALLTAGGING: I don't mind walltagging, it's just that fix it so we have a chance to stop it, or avoid it. Give it a 2 second timer so we have a chance to jump away, and make it so 1 bullet will blow it up, not my whole pistol clip.

Wall bouncing - I know you made changes to reduce/eliminate wall bouncing and shotgun rolls, but the end effect is - game feels slow and clunky.
GRENADE WALL TAGGING - increase the warning or get rid of them completely, if somone is running by without paus they should not affect them, only if someone is going by slowly and too dumb to not notice them should they be knocked down/killed

The shotgun is fine, people just don't know how to use it correctly yet (IMO it's better than the Gears 1 shotty)
The only things that need fixing are....
1. It needs to be a little bit easier to make someone lower an enemy's chainsaw
2. Grenades tagged to a wall need to have some sort of tiny indicator to make it easier to spot them kind of like the two red lines off of a claymore on CoD4
3. Power weapons need to have less ammo in non-respawn gametypes like Execution, Warzone, and Gaurdian.
Ex: Mortar - 2 shots, Boom Shot 2 - shots, Mulcher - 250 bullets, Scorcher - 100 ammo

Reduce the concussion blast of smoke grenades, at least make it less dramatic. The smoke would be a lot better.
Or you could keep it, but everyone just starts with 1 frag.
Add a stutter for the chainsaw if you get shot to quiet the kiddies down.

Shotgun - thing is wayyy too random, sometimes it hits and sometimes it doesnt. When it hits its good but still too slow. The power of it is ok, when its not doing something random like not doing nay damage at all when right up against the oponent.
Lancer - Great except for the chainsaw being wayyyyy too powerful. When people shoot it (as per gears 1) it should go down, it also revs and engages too quickly.
Smoke Frags - damage area is too great and warning time is insufficient, (this can also be said for wall tagging other frag types) I like the idea but reduce the concusive affacted area.
Other - the mortar, simply covers too great of an area, fair enough you should die if hit by it but it shouldnt cover such a large area in multiplayer.

The problem I have with this whole game is you juiced up the lancer and weakened the shotgun. This has resulted in alot of noobs thinking there good at the game when all they do is hold B and run at you. Now this next part is for you EPIC. I think you just basically slapped all of your true gear fans by making GOW2 for noobs. If you want to make us happy again at least make it so when you shoot someone revving there chinsaw it goes back down.

Yeah i have a problem with the chainsaw loads of people go around online now just using the chainsaw its easier to use than the older game on gears one most people used shotguns online what some people dident like but atleast you needed some skill to use it now with people just using chainsaws its stupid. earlier i had a king of the hill match and every kill in the game was with the chainsaw i even had to start using it to counter them it really isant any fun getting sucked into the chainsaw regualy its just a game of hide and seek. As well as the chainsaw when you shoot people with the lancer they slow down a bit but with the shotgun it does nothing they still chainsaw you after popping three loads of active shells into them.
Apart from these issues i am really enjoying the game.

the only two problems are
1. the shotguns speed is fine its just that the blind fire is terrible the bullets hit the floor randomly infront of your charicters feet. even though you could be aiming at the sky. the shotgun also seems to be affected by a delay.
2. the chainsaw is near impossible to stun, what i have notaced is that it only stuns when the player wielding the chainsaw is at a distance, so when the chainsawing player gets to close the stuns dunt work.

1. The shot gun doesn't always kill point blank.
2. It's very rare to not shoot at the ground with the shotgun while blindfiring
3. A person revving a chainsaw is much to difficult to be stopped
4. The boomshot and shotgun are the only weapons affected by lag in games.

This isnt a major issue but i find it annoying , when i go to multiplayer option set my characters and weapon to golden lancer everything works fine and dandy . When i then sign in again play GOW2 my characters are set the same but the lancer changes back to normal and i need to keep changing it everytime i go on gow2 , surely they could add this to a future update its not that hard to remember what weapon i choosed as my favourite
PS: I know for some game modes you can choose your weapon and guy but sometimes i forget and the host presses start to quick.
this is happening with me too.
Also, when i hit people revving the chainsaw with a shotgun it stops the rev sometimes and other times nothing happens...still revved up fully...
maybe the chainsaw should run off gas like the scorcher does
so you can't use it constantly

Pistol - A bit on the weak side.
Shotgun - A bit TOO slow...speed it up just a tad would be nice, and completely bring the blindfire back to what it was, not this garbage, and allow QUICK-SCOPES, apparently it's too slow to do that.
STOPPING POWER - Way too strong? Has epic played the game? You can't MOVE. I thought it slowed you down so to speak but to completely cease movement is ridiculous...change that.

It only completely stops you if you're getting shot for ALONG time..
The boomshot was given 3 bullets and the splash damage reduced, i think thats fair trade off.
Chainsaw does need to be fixed
They should fix the Smoke Nades though, i was playing a match on ruins and the smoke literally lifted me off the ground and into the imulsion....wtf is that?

In mid roll you cannot change weapons anymore, also the shotgun feels useless most of the time.
Grenade tagging on walls is out of control, I like the idea but you have no time to get away from the blast at all.
i agree. alot of people tag walls around them and then hide tucked away somewhere and wait. its so gay. box themselves in a corner. zero skill involved. PLEASE take out grenade tagging on walls. tagging gamers was ok but the walls are so lame and out of control

There is a big problem with the shotgun. It feels less powerful, slower, and useless. The chainsaw is unstoppable, some one comes at me with the chainsaw, and I shoot him like 4 times with the shotgun and his chainsaw doesn't go down. Another thing is that matchmaking takes forever. Stopping power is a really great idea for people who just rush you with the shotgun, but sometimes it just gets really annoying. -.-

Shotgun has terrible bullet lag in 70% of the matches. Without the lag, the weapon is great.
Don't make it faster, the speed is perfectly fine, it's just the bullets to floor that pisses me off.
Grenade tag explosion radius is horrendous. 2 second beep before explosion for all grenades
2 shots for boom, not 3.
4 shots for mortar, not 5
decrease hammerburst recoil.
chainsaw needs serious tweaks
Fix the poison grenade, it's useless

First the shotgun:
Perceived Problem...
The shot gun fires too slowly. There is too large of a delay between rolling and shooting. The shotgun is too inaccurate when fired from the hip.
Solution...
Replace the Gears of War 2 shotgun with the one from Gears of War 1. Increase the level of mobility to that of Gears 1.
The Lancer:
Perceived Problem...
Stopping power from the Lancer and Pistol should not affect your ability to strafe at close range. Stopping power is too powerful, it decreases movement at too fast of a rate. The chainsaw does not stop revving when you are shot at. Because of the buffs to the lancer the lancer is now the defacto long range, medium range and short range guns.
Solution...
Stopping power should only affect those who are roadie running. Stopping power should not affect those who are walking or straffing. If someone raises their chainsaw and I shoot them it should go down immediately, even if its from one bullet of a pistol.
The Sniper:
Perceived Problem...
I have not heard many people complain about this, but active reloads no longer downing imbalances the game. The sniper is too weak compared to other power weapons.
Solution...
Return active downs.

SHOTGUN - PLEASE FIX THE BLINDFIRE ISSUES! I've never really been an advocate for an all out shotgun fest (kinda like GoW1), but using this weapon is absolutely ridiculous now. All you can do is quick scope and even that is sometimes inconsistent. You can't rely on the blindfire anymore since it only works about 20% of the time. A buff in speed for the shotgun would be AWESOME, but please at least fix the blindfiring issues.
SMOKE GRENADES - Honestly, this was a great idea at first but it is really getting out of hand. People abuse this power to the max and it really just isn't fun to play when you die 80% of the time from getting knocked down. The majority of the time, teams spawn, take out their smokes, throw them and knock people down, then use their vacuum (AKA the Chainsaw) to clean up the kill. Did Epic really want their game to be played this way? It really takes no skill what so ever and completely ruins the way the game was meant to be played.
I feel that two issues are the most important and NEED to be fixed for the sake of GoW2 multiplayer. Smoke grenades completely stupefy the teamwork and skill portion of the game and I know this was not the way Epic wanted their amazing game to be played.
Obviously there are other issues (ESPECIALLY the Chainsaw) but I, and many others, will be completely satisfied as long as these two huge issues are fixed.
PLEASE EPIC! FIX THE SHOTGUN AND THE SMOKE STUNS!

I want to have the ingredients of the shotgun duel back.
The same speed of movements and dodging.
Accurate hipfiring that shoots in the middle of the screen.
How much damage a shotgun hit should make is the way to ballance if needed.
Same as in gow1 is perfect now, with stopping power preventing rushers.

I also have a problem with switching weapons except mine always goes to the smoke grenade. I thought it was a controller problem but it happend with all 4 of my controllers so i don't think thats the problem.
Second the shotgun- i have found the only way my shotty works 100% of the time is to 2 piece. Other then that i can walk right behind someone and they swat my shot off like a fly

the only problem with gears 1 shotgun was that it did too much damage, all they needed to do in gears 2 was reduce the damage the shotgun shells did. not turn it into a piece of crap... now the shotgun battles feel boring, its too slow.

The SHOTGUN has a bug, when I shoot from the hip it seems as if I'm shooting down, but my shotgun is in the middle of the screen, and once I shoot it it shoots as if I was shooting down, and I know a few others who have had this problem, and its happens when the game is not laggy and its even worse when it is. Please fix this.

shot gun is very weak and has delay. I was playing horde, on level 18, I was shooting a grunt. I had a shot gun.. so did he. I shot him once, then meleed him, then shot him again.. he got stunned once.. then just shot me once and I went down.. what gives...
Please make shot gun more powerful. Reduce power of the lancer... because it is way too strong. That is all so far.

Well, it seems to me, when I activate the lancer chainsaw, and I stand right in front of an enemy, it doesn't saw them in half. And then they'll take theirs out, and chainsaw me right in half. ( even though I have mine on and it should put us in a chainsaw dual ) Maybe its lag though, or it could be the fact I stink at Gears of War 2.

everyone has probably already discussed the problems with the shotgun and chainsaw, so i want to discuss the Mortar and grenades
the Mortar is way over-powered
you can fire off two sets of blasts before the first one has even hit and its splash damage is ridiculous
grenades also need their splash damage fixed because the blast radius is just too big
planted grenades also take far too much time and ammo to detonate when you shoot them

I find the wrong weapons on the d pad constantaly. maybe its just me ,but the number of times I've got my pistol out when going for the shotty in a pinch is crazy . I've never had this problem on another game before .
In terms of balance -
I like the power of the shotty -But I do think it fires a bit too slow in between shots . Could be 20% quicker and it would balance the chainsaw more. Just getting that last shot out before you get sawed

Smoke knock down radius is my main gripe. I've been miles away from them and been knocked down . Poision is also pretty quick to go from down to dead .
Motar is my only other gripe- its fun as hell when your using it but I do think its spread is too wide for MP . Every time you get it you can get kills without even knowing where the enemy is
All that said I would still be happy if nothing changed. I'm not that worried about any of it

Shotgun hip fire along with boom hip fire hit the ground below you no matter how high you aim, this seems to be a lag issue. One thing I do while using is the shotgun is to aim for a split second then fire in order to spend the least time aiming, however sometimes when I do this the shotgun does not fire when it should, but a couple of seconds later. Lancer chainsaw is unstoppable and over powered most of the time in my opinion.

Exactly. Gears of War 1 was a decent game and a good start. I say decent because Epic failed to have a party system or fix the numerous bugs.
But Gears of War 2 is far worse than Gears of War 1. Not only are the same glitches present (and worse), but they destroyed the core gameplay to appeal to the lowest common denominator of gamers (casuals).
Perhaps they should have two different playlists for Gears of War 2, just like they have different modes for single player. One mode is Gears of War 2 with its rules, and the other mode is with the modifications suggested by the majority of people in this thread.
The only thing I have a problem with is the chainsaw. It's starting to get ridiculous what people can walk through and then chainsaw you.
Also, I don't mind the smoke knock-down effect, except for when playing Wingman. I mean, there are 8 enemies, meaning you are going to be constantly getting knocked down. It's quite frustrating in that gametype.
Other than them two things, I absolutely love all the weapons.

And sometimes I see people spawn without any weapons and they cant shoot. It has happened to me a few times too. You can just wait and die until you respawn again and hope its over.

After pulling the trigger it will shoot about 1 to 2 seconds later. This also happened to me in GoW 1, but with all the weapons. I have the fastest connection provided by Comcast, so I'm pretty sure I have no connection issues. Plus, I have never lagged in any other game.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Other weapons have the same lag. You just cant really see it by looking at the bullets coming out. Its part of the shooting animation. You have to look at your ammo counter.

I know what you mean, but thats not the case. For instance, when I noticed it about 10 minutes ago I tested it by standing directly in the front of a wall and shooting. A second or two after shooting the bullets hit the wall; however with my other guns they hit the wall right after firing

Hey. Going to make this post as friendly as possible.
My main concern is the chainsaw bayonet and shotgun, but I'll touch up on the grenades too (mainly smoke.)
In Gears 1, the shotgun was the powerhouse weapon. The chainsaw bayonet was the ineffective, "fun" weapon. Instead of a minor tweak, it just seems that they have switched places for Gears 2. The chainsaw is very powerful, it does not drop when the user is shot, and chainsaw duels seem completely random. You can backpedal, dive, etc. from the chainsaw, but the user will follow you into a corner. Since it doesn't drop when shot, shooting doesn't help unless you're able to down them, which can be difficult when blindfiring, and aiming would slow you done, thus making it easier for them to get to you and chainsaw you.
The shotgun wasn't tweaked, but nerfed extremely. The fire rate is extremely slow, and the delay from me pulling my trigger to the gun actually fire seems delayed at times. The power definitely needs to be increased. Shooting people point blank with no result? Come on Epic, that isn't a shotgun, it's a pea shooter. You need to fix the bullet dropping issues too.
A quick note on grenades. Maybe reduce the down time for a smoke grenade, and increase the activation time of a planted grenade by a small margin. The smoke grenade down time is a little too much, and it can be pretty difficult to react and defend yourself when an enemy is five feet away while you're down. Same with planted grenades, the amount of time given to react doesn't strike me as enough time.

Since the smoke grenade is way overused (Even by bots) just don't have it as a starting weapon or take out the stun. Then its fine.

or they should do this:
have smoke nades from GoW 1 as a start weapon, then stun nades as a power weapon, just like a frag/ink nade.

Stun/ Smoke Grenades: I love the idea.. but the blast radius is too much for the knocking down. All I have to say it should be lowered. If not no biggie.
Okay lets recap, since i made a long list. The main thing that I ask for is for you guys to fix the shotgun speed. Make it as fast but not as strong as the gears of war 1 shotty

fix the chainsaw, it is way to overpowered because when i shoot a person with it revved they hardly ever, EVER get stunned and usually i end up getting chainsawed..

Solution- In an active reload you get two shots so if you just missed a headshot you can just wait a second or two and shoot again and hopefully hit the head. Also instead of the old active down in gow1 you can hit the person twice with the snipe and down them.

No, no, and no.
If you get 2 shots instead of one with an active it's basically the exact same concept as active downing in GoW 1. All you have to do is shoot them twice, back to back. That's not even hard at all and it will never be a suitable change now that the downing is gone.
Sniper is now a skill weapon. Period. Out of every terrible weapon change they have done in GoW 2, the sniper isn't one of them.

The smoke grenade turns you into a human rocket if you are crouching behind cover and are hit with the smoke grenade. I have only noticed that you get launched straight up into the air if the two conditions are met: 1.) you are using cover, and 2.) you are crouching while using cover. The only time this is ever a real problem is when a building is nearby, and this has happened to me twice now where I get launched up in the air and get stuck on top of a building with no way to get down.

Shotty is a little too weak now.
Chainsaw runners are rarely stopped.
Concussion effect from smoke is getting overused which is indicative that it's too powerful.
The planted frag has too much range. Teammates can't even get by if you plant one.
The quick LT pull and RT shotgun shot is slow.
And - the high sensitivity controller settings feel slow now.

The Shotgun seems to lagg when nothing else does.
definatly agree...i shoot the ground with a lancer and the bullet hits simultaniously...shoot it with a shotguna nd it takes a half second....why...?

Gears of War 2 is a great game. Epic must be getting kicked in the balls with all these massive complaints about the shotty/chainsaw.
They heard the FIRST person who complained about this you don't have to post 10 times and say OMFG SHOTTY SO SLOW IM GONNA GO BAK TO GOW1111111111111111111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
Just say you're problem and examples and give a suggestion on how to fix it. Jesus you guys act like you are 6 years old which I bet half of you are.
Chainsawing I agree with and that is legitimate but these complaints about the shotty are ridiculous. "Slow, weak, inaccurate." It's true and needs to be fixed but not every effing member needs to complain.
Shotties aren't supposed to be super fast like in GOW1, that was total bs. Now I agree it gets inconsistent where sometimes I shoot a guys face but he doesn't get down/dead and I get chainsawed or sometimes if I'm lucky I hip fire for a one shot out of nowhere. That needs to be fixed. We should keep the speed of shooting on the shotty the same but more powerful at point blank ranges.
But I understand about chainsawing. I know its Epic's big innovative idea but its too overpowered in this game. Chainsaw duels are kind of a good idea I get killed while in battle. That needs to be immediately fixed instead of all these shotty complaints.
The only "issue" I receive is when switching weapons. Sometimes I press the left arrow it goes right and vice versa. It gets annoying at times but not very major for me.

Obviously the shotty is too weak and the chainsaw is too strong due to the lack of the stunning...but i also feel like the shotgun is slow to fire...i know that the shoot, recock, shoot has been slowed down but i have had times where i just pulled out my shotty..walked a bit pull LT then RT and nothing happens until about a full second later after im already zoomed out again and then the bullets come out, after that its fine and rhythmic, but i would like it to be fixed

Blindfiring the shotgun doesnt work at all. Aiming does.
Why cant people counter the chainsaw with something else? Lancer or hammer burst?
Boltok? This is the best weapon change yet. Its the new sniper.
Blindfiring of the shotty and the matchmaking are my biggest problems... I have some little ones but I know Ill forget them overtime and accept this game for what it is. Afterall, it is a NEW game.

There seems to be no chainsaw stun when shooting someone point blank in the face while they are revving the damn saw. Fix this or give me my money back for destroying a perfect game.
you only needed to change shotgun charge and host advantage....
