Hello HideInLight,

Sorry for the frustration but this zip file IS pretty big. We spent over 6 months creating this UT2D world, stylization, original characters and FOUR awesome levels (3 multiplayer & 1 Single Player) for submission to the "Make Something Unreal" Contest. It may be huge, but surely worth it. Everyone involved in the creation was students from the Art Institute of California in Santa Monica and we are proud of it but you are right it is a bit large. We are hoping to cook it down smaller for our next update, or at least for the next phase submission, so if you have to wait until then please try again. In this day and age 2-3 GB is not really all that big in comparison - it all fits on a DVD without any problems... well I hope you get a chance to check it out - andf we would love to hear your feedback on it.

Thanks,

This teaser video shows me nothing short of a large ammount of wasted effort on the team's part. there's nothing unique about the design aspects in general and from what I can tell of the single player level, it looks incredibly boring and utilizes the concept of very rigid bum-rushing of the player. (which doesn't work well in a game engine that has rather fluid and undefined movements.) the only thing I can commend you on is actually using the background for something decent in the city streets multiplayer level. Otherwise, it needs serious work in defining something that hasn't been done before, or AT LEAST using a higher class of presentation for the project.

did you take the time to download the file and actually play it? considering that there are almost 500 downloads it would seem that the people who took the time to download it enjoy it...thanks for the critique though :p

Can someone please repost this map? The web page is no longer available. Also does anyone know where I can get a 2d camera mutator? I would like to try creating a game mod the plays like Bionic commando Rearmed.

Thanks!!

That's funny because the Epic judges just awarded us 2nd place for best Non-FPS mod in phase 3. I guess not everyone agrees with your opinion... lucky us!

Its a pretty decent mod. However the CPU can see you from beyond your screen space.( it should not take a school that cost over 100k in tuition to make a mod that locks a camera.). But thats left to general discusion i think.
Wrong place to complain.

I'm sorry that my post on the internet bothered you enough to hold a grudge more than 6 months from when it was posted, and it didn't bother you enough to try and fix anything in your mod. I would have possibly found the concept enjoyable if it weren't for the fact you created a boss enemy that could be made in the DOS era and maybe be interesting, and that it's animations were about as static as such too.
Perhaps if you hadn't done something that anybody with half a brain could do with the engine, or worked to better involve the environment in the gameplay rather than keeping it pieces of static geometry that don't really do anything except look like shiny plastic.
But you know, i can't really expect much from one- wait? What's that? It was a TEAM? A team of rich kids in college with a tuition that's more than what the average person makes in a year? Goodness me, I would maybe have given you some credit if that weren't the case! Just goes to show, the price of your education does nothing to help build ingenuity or imagination! And it seems they didn't do much for your skills either!

Of course, I'm a sincere person. That's why I'm not being mean at all, even though I just insulted you on a personal level. Obviously I am saying that i'm not mean to cover my own insecurities, or however you wish to see it.
Thankfully, I don't need someone's overpriced idea of how you're meant to create a video game. I understand game theory well enough on my own.

If the ZIP file is huge, why don't you compress it with Win UHA? The only problem is the time it takes to compress and decompress, but those 2 G would transform into less than 1 M. And you need Win UHA for both compress and decompress.

(I think there's some wrong English above. Sorry)
