lets use this thread to keep track of anyone that is lucky enough to get one of the retail store cog tags. the promo starts today so get out there and start bothering those retail people!!!!!

if you do get one let us know which store, best buy, circuit city, or gamestop. also let us know what the button the person was wearing looked like.

I will be heading to all three stores as soon as they open at 10 A.M. With only one Best Buy, one Circuit City, and two Gamestops here in Fort Collins, CO, I feel like I have a decent chance.

i live over by sawgrass mills so i will try to hit up all 4 gamestops near there as well as the best buy and circuit city there. sadly i wont be able to go till after work today and i have to try to fit those trips in while doing other things.

yea im with you on that buddy. good luck with the rush hour traffic. i still dont know why they call it rush hour when nobody is able to go fast for like 3 hours it should just be idle four hours.

miami is the worst for traffic, there is just traffic there 24 hours a day for no reason what so ever!! of course i work in miami so i have to drive north to get home

well its 11am here on the east coast which means its 10am central i am curious to see if th retail ones come in a box like the ones that were mailed etc or if they come without a box like the ones placed out in the wild.

the main reason i want to know is because the ones that come in the box dont have the actual metal tag attached where as the ones in the wild do. i dig it with the metal tag attached!

i have friends wife out on the hunt right now. she is going to hit up at least one of each of the three stores!

No the CSID is printed on the side of the cog itself, the dog tag just had "if found visit gears of war.com etc"

well... im in miami as well... i will be hitting up best buys on us1 @ dadeland station, us1 @ 190ish st and Kendall Dr. and 124ish.
and all gamestops along the way (only like 20 or so)
i filled my tank (68 bux) so im set for about 350 miles of driving.

yea so the package could have come late afternoon. they could have gotten it but who knows (besides them). a guy at the gamestop next to my office said they are getting delviery today with the GHB tokens he doesnt know if there will be a COG in it. im guessing that a Rep. goes to the store and talks directly to them.

I asked Six this a few days ago, he said he wouldn't know about any UK promotions, only North American ones. He did kinda agree it was a bit unfair though.

:rolleyes: well, Im gonna go try later this morning. At least gas isnt too expensive right now, but it just sucks walking into the same stores over, and over. Asking and looking for a gears pin or button. Either they did a really good job of lying or they just dont have any idea whats going on with this give away. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

I have no doubt that once the tags got/get to the stores they're up for grabs for the employees and managers. Almost positive for Gamestop/EB since games is pretty much what they do. Theyd consider it a job perk.

Example= I worked at Hollywood vid and GTA4 came out we got 14 copies each with 1mth free xbl codes still in them. I got 6 of them, store manager took rest. Someone had to get them might as well be the workers.
Now the COGs are set up completely different,but the point of the story is IT HAPPENS!

I was thinking the same thing. EB Games down here in Aus did a promo along the same lines... They had 7 COG's to give away, 1 store per state. I got to my local store about 1:30pm Friday afternoon, and I was the first guy in there, so ended up with the COG and a T-Shirt signed by Cliffy B.

I thought afterwards, was mighty good of the manager at the store to actually give it away to a customer... He could have pocketed it and told the website that it had been collected. (I don't think he follows GOW to closely though, he said the T-Shirt was signed by Chucky B..lmao)

Not US Only. I was awarded one at midnight launch at GAME in Kingston Upon Thames. =)

Cant seem to find where to enter the code though. Last day site comes up with a picture of a satellite then wont let me click anything.

That guy may have gotten trouble and was on a short leash with management, so maybe he didnt wanna risk losing his job, by keeping something he wasnt supposed to??????:D

That was one of the cog tags from the coordinates, not really a retail tag (that was US only, had a word with Six about that) , but congrats on getting that one anyway!

The "Last Day" site is down at the moment (well, it was last time I looked), if/when it comes back online, after the "robot" boots up, there is a little red "cog" just below the screen, click on that and it will ask you for the CSID#.

Congrats on getting your COG, just that something extra that makes it so much better.
