i just ordered gears of war 1 for the pc and i was told that the patch can only be installed on the american and western european versions of the game. i liev in hungary and people who bought the game here said they couldnt install it.

the patch fixes a critical problem, that save games sometimes disappear after quitting the game. its easy to blame the pc users for downloading the game instead of buying it, but with bugs like this i dont know what youre expecting from us. im gonna have to torrent the game if i dont wanna lose my saved games even tho i payed for it!

epic games is also a member of the pc gaming alliance... why is gow 2 not coming to the pc then? this is how you support pc gaming?

Not that this helps much.. but I'd wager it's not coming to PC because gears 1 sold like poo on the PC because most 360 owners didn't rebuy the game for content should have been made available on the 360 a few months later.

Get over it already!! The extra content wasn't earth shattering.

Do you actually have sales figures for gears PC??

still it is ridiculous that epic joined the pc gaming alliance and then announced that gears 2 wasnt coming to the pc. i know gears 1 didnt sell great on it but i bet they got more money out of it than what they put into it.

i think theyre just being held back by microsoft and gears 2 will eventually get ported... in like 1 or 2 years. id be fine with that. id buy it the day it coems out.

I don't think GOW for PC sold badly. I read in an interview somewhere with Mark Rein that GOW PC was selling "OK". He claims the reason they aren't doing GOW2 PC is because they don't have the manpower or resources to develop a PC version. But you know...we'll see how that goes. I totally wouldn't expect to mention a PC version even if they were working on one because it would be bad for business in terms of the 360.

Why doesn't CryTek feel that way??

They don't have the manpower or resources to develop a PC version because they don't want to devote the manpower or resources to it. The costs to develop a PC version outweighs any profit they might make on it.

You know why you don't see sales numbers for Gears 1 PC, because they weren't worth mentioning.

Except that Cliff was on 1up and said there won't be a PC version.

Sorry man but I don't believe that for even 1 millisecond. It has nothing to do with your reason, piracy (like Cliff claims) or "we want to use our resources for just the XBox360 (like Mark R. claims).

The real reason they didn't release Gears 2 on PC was because of the fact that Gears 1 was so buggy and glitchy and Games For Windows LIVE was so much the same that thanks to the word of mouth from fellow gamers nobody wanted to buy Gears 1. Epic and Microsoft won't admit to this being the problem because 1. Epic's likely under NDA to M$ to not say anything about what I'm saying here because it would cause a huge Net controversy. This is obvious because usually when Epic branded titles have problems Cliff, Mark, Tim [Sweeney] and the rest will go to the Net and apologize to the fans for the shape the game is in and promise to fix it. This didn't happen this time around. 2. M$ wants to treat Gears 1 on PC as "just another write-off" (M$ does this to all products that go epic fail on them). 3. Epic and Microsoft probably feel like if they release Gears 2 to PC it'll have the same game stability problems that the 1st one had so it's too much of a risk on their part. There you have it. Debate on guys. Out!

I wanted to buy Gears 1 and its a great game (PC). its better than the XBOX360 version, just the sound is worse, but it's more a bug, i think.

I would have traded the extra HALF-hour of play for more patches and a better multiplayer frontend (live sucks).

But hey thats just me...
