gears of war crashes.

i recently bought gears of war for the pc, but whenever i play it crashes at some point. it crashed at the first mission (where you are in those prison blocks) and during the cutscene where you are in the heli flying to the new mission.

i also was playing the game once in a sitting and got to act two without crashing or anything (the mission after you defeat the berserker with the hammer of dawn, i think that's act two).

whenever it crashes the screen just turns black and the monitor says 'analog' in the top left (my monitor is a 22'' samsung t22)

i'm playing the game with everything on (except vsync) and everything on max, i'm running vista ultimate 32 bit at 1680x1050 resolution, here are the most important components of my computer;

msi r4850 512mb
e8400 duocore proc
2gb ram (ddr2 1066mhz)

this only happens with gears of war, i play much more hardware intensive games like crysis and recently far cry at high/v.high settings.

my computer is pretty much fully updated with drivers, so what's the problem?

i don't get any error messages or something, mostly i'm just forced to restart my system, and one time it went back to my desktop, and it said that gears of war wasn't working.

have you overclocked your CPU or other components? That can cause system instability. But i'm guessing you haven't and it sounds like the program is just closing, the computer isnt actually restarting. So have you installed the title updates? They might fix your problem.
