Video settings automatically change to default

When I change the default video settings, the game says I should restart the game before my changes will work. When I restart the game all video settings are set to default again. Can anyone help me? I use vista 64 and have a nvidia 8800 GTS videocard. Thanks in advance.

You could also make your warengineusersettings.ini read only.
