My question is this. How many COG Tags do you guys think are hidden? No doubt we need to work together in this, because i'd like to see them all found more so than being selfish and finding one SOLELY for myself. How exactly are they spread out? Budapest is seemingly random, but it must have some relevance to the Gears noir...Then we have London. I'm just curious as to the selection of locales...

Of course you can do that but unsure how helpful it will be. i've seen previous games where objects are hidden in the real world. Most of the the location are spread out so lots of people have an opportunity to find the item. There already lots of people posting where they are want the next items to be.

Also unless they change how they are giving us the clues we simply have to wait for the GPS before we know roughly where the cog will be.

I did like the idea of people teaming up as likely going to be more fun that way. Hope people do this as long as they no arguments who gets to keep the cog

WaldoRtk7 is pretty good at updating this when the ones that find them post that they found one, along with the proof. Pics taken with it and the code of it, the code for the LA one wont be of use for us anymore since the satelite has been unlocked already. (Anyways If you find it, usually more pics you have help, as you will be asked by us where you found it to get more ideas how they'd have the others hid). As far as the other thread goes there have been close to 3 people who have already went looking for it without luck. As of right now though no one has claimed to have found it but that's not saying it hasn't been found yet, If someone has already they hadn't spoken up on the site. I'd go but I'm directionally challenged and no one i know here is as big of a gears fan as me to direct me or let me navigate. If they get one closer to SB (my location) I'll definately be in though! haha. Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the encouragement. It will cost a little bit in gas, but I have a on foot GPS locator and some time to burn this week.

How long ago were the clues posted?
How fast has it taken the other couple to be found in the wild?

By clues I'm assumming you mean the gps lat and long right?? Thoes were posted 10/10 maybe 10/09 but took a while to figure out what they meant haha.Around the 9th and 10th they posted the 1st batch of the locations and some went to look but didnt know exactly what to look for. Then on the 12th "xl Ragnar lx" & "Guy The Ace" found and entered the code from the cog they found in Budapest, Hungary which unlocked the satelite. Considering some already went to the location and hearing about some look in others locations saying that they searched for "hours"... I assume they could take a while since the gps location isn't exact on spot. You might have to go hunting around in that area for a while. "xl Ragnar lx" said they found theirs buried under rocks so it might and might not be as visible.

I wonder what my chances are in finding it. I'll leave after rush hour and dig around for a few hours before rush hour starts yet again.

I saw in that London thread, epic put up some picture hints. Does this mean the cog's are put there at a designated time by epic? Or are the cog's already there, waiting for plundering?

no luck at citywalk yesterday.....i went over that area in front of hardrock with a fine tooth comb. every place there were bushes, ledges,and corners, i checked them all. i did not go into that back lot area.

in the sat photo, you can see a couple dark spots directly in the coordinates. they are water valves to the shopping center. i even looked IN those!

i dont know where that thing could be...

First question, Parking was how much?

Second, Could that backlot area not be accessed? I know that may not be the actual location, but I wonder if something is back there?

I'll probably going either today or tomorrow and definitely through the weekend.

I'd be surprised as surely they must check the gps co -ords before using them. Even if they were wrong don't they follow what we are posting as its been about 4 days and think they would let us now somehow if it was wrong as looks as people are driving for hours to get to some of the places!

Some of the tags have been found a bit away from the spot. Suppose your looking for somewhere which people are not going to spot just walking past. Good luck if you go back to have a look :)

I dunno what the numbers are but from what thy say could be 2 different areas...scratch that. they say the san carlos one's cordinates were wrong. Latitude: 37.7667, Longitude: -122.4333 San Francisco. I dunno the video doesnt play right on this crappy comp. take a look and see what cordinates you see.

hmmm, now the only question is... is that location anything more than where the satelite attacked locusts in the video??? Cog location??? I honestly doubt it cause the cordinates in the video were 37° 46' N 122° 26' W which converted to (37.766667,-122.433333), that required a little more work than the other cordinates that were given to us. It's a possibility it's a cog location, but I wouldn't count on it. I personally would look if i was near it, wouldnt bother otherwise.

how do you know if its a code or not?
it gives exact coordinates right at the end of the video.

which that would make sense if they hid a cog tag there considering the cogs requested to be obliterated along with a ton of locust at that coordinate.

Greetings from LA City Walk team.
Well we searched for a good 3-4 hours. Covered the entire perimeter of that large building and the building surrounding it. Both levels. Up and down. All 9,000 planters.
Another group of kids showed up, they gave it an hour before they were over it.
We literally checked every spot in the area at least 3 times over.
There was one spot with two gigantic roman esque pillars that toally reminded me of gears. If there was a good spot for one, that would be it.
Anyways, I am a pretty damn tall guy so I covered any high spots that could have been missed.
My sister is a pro at this kind of stuff and she couldn't find it. Damned proud of her though, she's more of a casual fan, but she really trucked through this like the real deal.
So no planters, lights, balcony, primary building, surrounding buildings, bathroom, back area entrances, etc.

One thing I did notice was that staff keeps the place in pristine condition. No hedge is overgrown and no trash is left on the cement for long. I asked a staff for a lost and found to no avail. I really suspect it was taken by staff, this place is just way too clean.

Anyways, I had a good time looking, got some Famous Pink's Hot Dog's in Hollywood and called it a day when it finally got too dark.

Oh and the coordinates are more accurate in google earth. Its actually placed directly in front of the hard rock cafe (that big ass building) thats where the real long and lat is.

Alright, am I correct in understanding that the Union Square, San Francisco pickup has been tried multiple times now but due to the marathon no one has actually retrieved it? Or is its status unknown because of said marathon, and it may have been picked up?

I may go check it out on Saturday.

IF you look at the other thread, I went there today. They built a wall around the statue, it is impossible to go to the location shown in Six's picture where I know the cog would be if it has not been picked up.

Exo, who found the one at AT&T park went back at night when they were building it and did not see the cog, but did not look for very long.

Bushmaster went up there and asked a construction worker to look in the lights for him to see if it was there, worker came back with nothing.

I still hold that maybe they were all just looking in the wrong light.

However, due to the Nike+ Marathon, there is nothing you can do. They built a wall around the statue that is not openable. They built a scaffolding then covered that, so it's there until the marathon is over.

well fair enough. on one of the videos...i think its the gas pumps....the satalite aligns with some co ordinates. which are 37 46' N, 122 26' W

if you check google earth it actually shows you a place in san francisco!

according to this its on the junction of henry st and noe st. by 2 resturaunts....

Well, that has been known for a while, no one has gone to check it out because it has been unconfirmed by anyone, really. It's just a location in a video, doesn't fit the format of the rest of the coordinates, so it could really just be a part of the video.

I'm in central North Carolina; less than fifteens minute from the capital, Raleigh, and less than an hour to a medley of other areas. If any appear around there, make sure to tell me.

Since N.C. is still thought of as relatively rural (Even though it's growing quite fast, and I believe it was voted "One of the three places in the U.S. not going into recession" or something like that), I'm unsure of whether one would be found here. It could be they would plant one here just because not a lot of people here know about GoW(A lot of my friends don't know what GoW is, and those who do know nothing about Last Day), though they seem to be more interested in planting them in large cities or public areas.

They've hit San Fran, L.A., and Boston, correct? Well, they are three of the most well-known cities in the U.S., with N.Y. obviously a prime one, which means if Tags are being put out, N.Y. should be a sure spot for at least one.

As for finding Co-ordinates, I've never been good at doing co-ordinates in anything, but I'll say if I find it.

I must admit, finding one of these tags would be immensely pleasing, as even though I've known of GoW for only a week or so, it's quickly become one of my favorite games, and I've learned a ton of stuff, thanks to Gearspedia and here. They also look way better than the packaged ones, and I would love to unlock more stuff on the Last Day site; the information and movies are very interesting.

i kinda have a hunch that you might wanna look around those graffiti'd areas.
since in the first gears of war game, the cog with the skull inside it typically marked the locations of the cog tags.
i'd say give all the spots a good thorough look-through.

So, universal city walk is only about an hour's drive from here, accounting for traffic. Unfortunately, I'm working 12 hour days on weekdays and 8 hours sat and sun. Just not fair. It's easier to be a fan before you have real obligations...

When i got to play the line was long yes but that was worth it.
paying to get in was ok for me because there was a sweet goody hunt that left me with 2 new face plates and lots more.

for the game play there was a setup of 10 360's playing 5 against 5.
I was aloud to play about 10 min and got to see 2 new maps that where looking very earben assault and my all time fav Gridlock in a new jacket.

I went to Union Square yesterday with 8 of my friends around 1am, and we got chased away by the security and construction in that area because we looked suspicious. We missed happy hour ;(

Today we went and met back at 8. Now we all have the new Iphones that will track your position and the position you are trying to get to, so that was very handy.

We helped the nike people clean up, and they were grateful enough to allow us to search.
We walked in a line side by side to comb through the bushes, we checked under the tables, under the trash cans and chained down flower pots. We checked in the lights, we even got talked someone in to lending us a ladder to check the trees and all of the lights, the other random flower pots that anyone would need a boost to get into and nothing.

For your doubts at how complete our search was, we found the following items:
-a broken cell phone
-a small plastic jester style mask
-a wallet (Turned in to lost and found in the parking garage)
-$10
-a still activated credit card. (Which we called in to bank of america, it was still active so we told them to cancel.)
-a stack of suspicious polaroids that were taken in random places and discarded in the bushes
-one shoe
-broken lighters, book of matches
-a lot of other nasty unmentionables. (Drug paraphanelia, trash, other sf stuff that would make you think the TL came crawling up to watch nike town)

And still the park security guys lurked around us with the "Hey the park is closed" sort of thing but we ignored them, and there were a lot of us so they didn't know what to do.

So then, someone had the bright idea of "What if it's under union square" and the search resumed to look in the parking garage in the lower levels. We combed through that too, the police were called just as we finished and they told us to leave.

Then we took a rest and entertained the possibility that mapquest on the iphone might have been off. So we used a different program to double check the coordinates...
One phone came up with the corner of Geary St. and Stockton, near the bus stop.
We checked down there, even on top of the bus stop while passerbys thought we were insane.
Then we even took the extra measure to check maiden lane.

The Union Square COG Tags are gone. Yes. Gone. We can find a still active credit card in all our searching but we can't find some COG Tags which were meant to be found?
The Union Square COG Tags are gone, or whoever was supposed to put the COG tag out there really didn't.

Entertaining that possibility, you have 24 hours to put that COG tag back in union square where it belongs sowe can find it.... or else.
To anyone else who is looking, stay the hell out of our way, just because we can't find the COG doesn't mean we can't find you.

hmmm, now the only question is... is that location anything more than where the satelite attacked locusts in the video??? Cog location??? I honestly doubt it cause the cordinates in the video were 37° 46' N 122° 26' W which converted to (37.766667,-122.433333), that required a little more work than the other cordinates that were given to us. It's a possibility it's a cog location, but I wouldn't count on it. I personally would look if i was near it, wouldnt bother otherwise.

Hi again. Well we're all pissed here, so we're going to go search that place now.

So we went to the coordinates irl, that were in the video, (37 46 -122 26) This is the corner of Noe and Henry. In the middle of the street.

No dice. It's a residential area, and all that was found were spiders rats and snails. ew.

After a few hours of searching, my friends and I came home to watch the video. With no more clues and after having combed through both locations, the only suggestions my friends and I can come up with are the following:

-The image in the video is not union square nor is it Henry and Noe
-the place targeted in the video is actually civic center.
-The place where the call is made for the satelite attack is the San Francisco Public Library on Larkin, the street mentioned in the video clip
-Larkin and 4th do not intersect. Anyone who lives here can tell you that.

-There is a large park that also falls under the coordinates of 37 46 -122 26
(Deboce Park) there's no real reason to go there.
-The only other interesting place in that area is the Mint which is up some steep ass hill, but it's at 37 46 -122 25

Taking a break for a day and a half because my friends and I have work and or class, so if anyone wants to take a hunch and go at it, go right ahead.

Guessing that the marathon was held before anyone could find it (Correct?), and there were workers and other people all around the statue, I'm agreeing with the theory that one of the workers found it, thought it was some piece of trash, and threw it away.

After all, if I didn't know about GoW or anything, and I found it, I might have kept it just because it looked nice, or I might have thrown it away. If I kept it I certainly wouldn't think the website on the back was anything important, nor would I think it was worth a lot on E-Bay, it's just one of those things I would throw in my closet and never find again.

For best chances, attempt to search the closest dump, and ask if they sort the piles according to days. Also ask if they sort the trash, as some dumps sift the metal materials from the other materials, and then melt down the metals.

hey i just found some new coordinates on six okay twitter 37.838248, -122.262351 he put them up like 2 min agoI just put those in Google maps and it came up as Oakland.

If I had to guess, at least one, maybe two would make it to the East Coast.

An Ad Campaign not including New York? And Florida is a maybe, there are a lot of people there, depending on where they put it.
