Don't know if this is new, as I'm just freshly back from a long month of MIA-ness. But here it is:

Damn, Marcus looks like a ten year old. Still, that's ****ing awesome, the way he looks. Like a... a... Some sort of WWII veteran fighting the Japanese, sleeves ripped off to fight the vicious jungle heat. WOW.

This book is going to ROCK.

EDIT:

Here's another excerpt, one from the Prologue. Look, they blacked out the name of whoever is speaking in Italics at the beginning! Obviously the Queen, I recognize some of that dialogue from an old, old trailer. Whoever is speaking has a distinct English accent... and is female. Hmm. But apparently, doesn't think of herself as human. IS she human?

And Carlos Santiago is a Stranded, apparently. Interesting.

WAAY special.

I'm buying it, and then I'm buying Gears 2. That's gonna set me back a nice $100 in green bucks, but I think it's worth it. Epic did it, and they did it right.

(I SOOO want to work for Epic when I grow up)

Did anybody get the first issue of the comics. I'm not a big fan of comics but I am a Gears completionist.

I liked it but most of the people on the comments section of The Escapist seem to think that it was utter crap. Oh well, they don't like it, they don't have to buy it. I'll buy it for sure though. I liked both of the Mass Effect novels, so I don't see any reason not to like this one.

Hmm... for some reason, the first excerpt, from the escapist, doesn't seem to be an actual excerpt. For one thing, it's written in 3rd Person; the excerpt on gearsofwar.com is in 1st Person, through the eyes of Dom. For another thing, the writing style seems to be ever so slightly different; it reminded me of a fanfiction, mostly because of the unimaginative name "David" tossed into the mix and the descriptions that seemed to be there just to be there (they didn't flow the same way).

Can we get some clarification?

since when does a name like 'David' imply fan fiction?

I thought they were both really good, neatly written and interesting to read. I've pre-ordered mine anyway. Got the comic a while ago, but didn't read it yet. The art looks good anyways. :)
