Does GEARS usually take this long to install? I've never had a game take so loooong. I'm still waiting 40mins after I began installation. I have a high spec pc running vista 32 and all the latest drivers...Is this normal?

I am not sure 40 minutes but yes gears takes some time to install then decompress.
Vista version also does not place a desktop shortcut.

A friend of me installs yesterday the game too...
It take about 1 hour... :confused:
Also there are 12 GB data to install... :eek:
So I think it is "normal"... :rolleyes:

It FINALLY installed. Thanks guys... Now, if I can just get the graphics/motion distortion to stop during gameplay, I'll be happy.

To disable motion distortion in GoW, go into the Gears config (documents\my games
gears of war for windows\wargame\config Thats for vista user at least, not too sure about XP) Open up Warengineusersettings and find motionblur, change TRUE to FALSE and there you go
