OMG this just hit me, Did anyone check the Lost and Found?

It's unlikely that the Lost and Found would have anything (if there even was a Lost and Found) because they built the thing around the very statue itself. Solid wall, no entry points. Only people that could've found it before then would be construction, and they wouldn't wait around to turn it in to lost and found.

But LA... I hear the coords are right outside the hard rock...

Check the got dang lost and found there. I have a feeling they put it there because it's not out in the open.

This is the exact side of the pillar that would have the dedication on the bottom with the light. I tried talking to the Nike+ girls in front of the pillar to see if there was an entrance into the thing but it's a wrap around the scaffolding, so there's no entrance, they just tear it down afterwards.

So, if the cog is still there, it's not going anywhere.

Yep.... that's waht i figured they were going to do when i saw them putting the framework up around the base yesterday.

did anyone catch the red sox game???? omg!!! its probably the top 3 baseball game i have ever seen!!! down 7 runs in the seventh inning about to go home for the season but the sox do it again! wow! walk off hit to right field. crazy!

Hey, back on for two seconds. This is the funniest thing I have seen on the gears forum. Some people are fighting over the real possiblity of a planet like Sera. They seem to have scientific inquiries of the atmosphere and planatary composition that now seems could turn into a religious debate. scottle, pinksage's cog isn't new - that's a cog tag that opens bonus content, not a tab unlocking tag.

Ok, so, items are getting unlocked without us seeing new coordinates - that's got to be what's going down in Hungary. There's no guarantee, apparently, that all COG tags will become a part of this hunt. There may be some 'deals' made with certain vendors or whatnot to provide their own contests that give away these special unlockable cogs. I think that sucks, as this really has the feel of a community 'treasure hunt' - but there's nothing stating that's what it is.

So at any point, someone may get one of these cog tags by other means, without us knowing about it. All we can do is watch and hope for more GPS coords, or some local Gears-related event that might hand out a special cog.

It would be nice to know about these COGs in Hungary, but it may be pointless for us to know anyway if there's nothing we can do to help retrieve them.

40 cogs in France or scattered on the internet. So who knows how many or where... some reports say there are 1000 cogs. I'm more inclined to think 40. Perhaps the 40 are the UNLOCKING cog tags, and the 1000 (+/-) are the popup bonus content tags... if those numbes are relatively accurate. COnsider, 26 tabs, some may have multiple tags per tab, so 40 hidden cogs around the world is perfectly feasible.
1000 seems extreme, but if those are 'pushed' tags (mailed to industry folk, or random promo contests and whatnot) then that could be possible too.
(I haven't inquired with sixokay or the PM team about the details yet though :P)

why concern? It's a world-wide promotional campaign. We've been promised nothing... other than the issue of letting two days go by with people spending inordinate amounts of time looking for a tag that was previously found but not announced as such, we're owed nothing, and haven't been lied to or cheated in any way...
we just want to know everything ;)

Of course, it would be smart for the community if they made everything relevent to the LastDay promo site globally and publically known, leaving the indepent promotional contracts to self-contained prizes and whatnot... but I think so far that's the way things have been going... generally... other than the first three tab unlocks, we've known about and got reports of all the others. We don't necessarily know the 'bonus content' CSIDs, but they don't unlock, they just reward with popup content.

We want to know about the unlockable COG tags... that's the global community content. :)

By the way the last pages about the 40 tags in France it seems to be a promo thing in europe were countrys hide lots of tags in there own country to hype GOW 2 has nothing to do with the last day site.

There seems to be more tags so theres a better chance of finding one, also if you find one you get a free copy of the game and the tags look the same as the last day ones. Over all it seems better then the last day campaign.

well, not entirely "nothing to do with" the site, but not applicable to unlocking the tabs on the site... we don't have confirmtion, but the CSIDs found in those countries are likely the generic 'enter and get a free bonus' popup (avatars, desktops, etc) which we've documented previously... ie we likely won't be getting anything 'new' from those tags. Those findings are nice to make note of, but not really relevent to our primary campaign: unlock those freaking tabs :P

What triggered me to register was the huge flurry of activity a couple days ago when Exo found his tag and Reno found their tag. I got home from work and there was 30 pages to read through:eek:

He said he had no info at this time. This guy have given me intel on game related release and promotions in the past (PS3 release, Halo 3 etc), so I conisider him a pretty good source.

Bushmaster, yeah, I found out about the Fenway COg aroud 5 pm on the day it was announced. I was most likely sitting at my desk less than two blocks way, completely oblivious as Avatrix was searching for and finding the COG. Such is luck sometimes. I was reading up on some of the other possible origins for the tags and decided to see if BB had anything in the pipeline. I figured with the Baseball Playoffs so close, that Epic might want to keep publicity up in this area to increase their bandwith. I just joined Twitter to try and keep up with all of this. Don't want to miss another golden opportunity! :)

I didn't remember where San Bruno was (as many of the areas around here all have San in front of the name) and hoped it was a lot closer than that. I work at a hospital so the have everything blocked off, I was running out of Proxy Server in Israel for a few months. Then they blocked outside connections. I'm working to back door the Websense Blocker again.

Because someone said they had access to engineers and milling machines to make a mock paperweight. In case we never got to hunt for a real one we could have our own imitation.

But this was mailed, and a neat little 'trail'.

So I guess there's no telling where a 'special' COG might show up.

I wouldnt suggest going to sanfran (at least for a little) last I heard the location of the coordinates is blocked off by police for some sort of event or something. I think people think someone already found it or a random guy picked it up because someone on here asked the security guards to look in the exact location and around and they couldnt find anything..

Just got back from seeing Max Payne and have to say I was really dissapointed. They gave away the ending half way through the film and alot of the acting was horse s#*t. The scary thing is Marky Mark did the best job, a decent choice for the main role. I don't know, guess I expect too much out of movies, but I would give this one a C.

Nothing new on the coordinates/COGS I see. Slow weekend I guess. I am off to watch SNL and then probably play some Gears.

so the Union Square is blocked? and yeah i did check waldos thread and the cog tag at the atnt park looks so obvious. either it was more hidden and the founder just placed it there and took a pic of it or it actually was in that same position... cuz the other pics of the cog tags look more hidden... and possible the on on Union Square might be too...

yea theres a big screenshot of the cog tag in the video and for the wallpaper of marcus holding cog tags, the numbers on it has been confirmed that they are nothing special.

hey, if anyone here has extra time.....this is what i found out about the ascii image...u know the omen written wt letters and numbers.
If u have Photoshop and u use the "watercolor" filter some letters and numers pop-up as bright red....maybe if u put em together.....idk
I was playing with that last night but did have enough time to do much about it.

I did the same but at City Walk i pretty much searched everywhere possible went even went as far as going in the hard rock cafe parking structures bathrooms city walk is also pretty much done i agree with six i think it was one of the cogs on ebay :mad:
