If I were a betting man I'd say it would be near the fountain. Does this fountain have a structure in the center? maybe it is on top of that?

I realize "Fountain" makes you think of a statue of David standing within a pool of water, but this fountain isn't like that. It really is nothing more than a big overground pool like structure filled with murky water. There is nothing in it for a cog to be hung on either. I checked the fountain last night, around it, and inside. Plus the fountain is about 100 yards or more east of the coordinates. After seeing that the Omaha cog was located a few feet of the coordinates, I can't imagine the cog being around the fountain because of the distance. I really thought it was around the Roman cathedral pillars that were back in the woods, as those really stood out. Damn, I wish I knew if I should be looking for a red omen first....

True but looking at the placement photos where the other tags were located, they haven't really been "hidden" per say. They have been "in the open" so we are all missing something. Look at Omaha, it was simply under an electrical box that anyone could have seen (luckily a maintenance worker didn't come along and toss it away). My guess is Seattle is the same thing....out in the open, under our noses, and we just aren't getting it. Also, it would be within reach, as the others were....so not up in a tree, or up high on a pole, etc. Of course it probably is placed in a spot where all the students that walk by wouldn't notice it, so it may be "within reach" is my guess, but not really out in the open. I think I am driving myself crazy now with my own assessment of the location.

Its been driving me nuts also. I think I have spent about 4 hours total looking. the other thing is that none of the COGs have been found to far from the listed coordinance. The fountain is pushing 200yards from the coordinance.

I am beginning to believe a passer by might have picked it up.

All benches were checked by us last night. There is always a "chance" that the grounds crew found it and chucked it away. Will report back later tonight if we get down there.

Yeah, just like with the seatle crew saying there is no place it can really be hiding near the coordinates. It would seem that you cannot really find the Cog until a picture has been posted to let us know it has been placed at that location.

nothing really (they're just instructions), some have them attatched and some don't, the ones that were sent out in the mail didn't have it attatched (but they had a box with a card) Maybe they didnt get enough Instructional dog tags to attatch to the cogs?? who knows. Perhaps they knew since it was located in the desert it was obvious someone who would be in that area would have been looking for it and would already know what to do with it, so it wouldnt need one.

From what is sounds, Six has been placing them in easy to access spots. Probably not going to climb a fountain to hide it on top. And for San fran you should look around the side of the building it is supposed to be at. You know not directly in the open but still there

yeah, I tried looking in newspaper things and all around. This part of town is absolutely swarming with people. Millions of them. There's no way anything like that would last for more than 2 mins. It's the biggest stores and hotels and everything. And half of union square is blocked off for this massive marathon.

Looking for the Fenway tag, I knew exactly where the photo was taken. I got there, scanned in scene, looked for pipes, construction, broken stone... there wasn't a whole lot. Went up and down, ended up circling the ballpark several times. In the end, the trick was to stand in the exact spot the photo was taken, and look around for potential hiding spots. To my left, about 8-10 yards away, was the small pipe--the COG tag was wedged behind it.

I didn't find the tag at first, because someone was sitting right next to the pipe with his dog, blocking my view! When I passed by again, I noticed the pipe and found it.

It's in Union Square. I was at AT & T Stadium but by the time I got there, it was claimed already by someone else just minutes before I went to the site. I went back to Union Square because I know where the place is shown in the photo. I searched for hours until I realized that it's unreachable, at least for now. Oh well. It's most likely the construction workers found it and either kept it or threw it away since they're building a platform right on top of the thing.
I hope you UW guys have better luck and all that time searching is worth it.

the union square cog is inaccessible right now due to a nike womans marathon event. they have a tent around where the cog is. authorized personnel only.

I asked a worker if he could check the lights in the ground around the statue. he took pity on me and did. came back with nothing. said it wasn't there.

so my guess is one of the crew picked it up. they have been constructing things around the stsatue so I can't see how it hasn't been found.

when I was there a guy was standing over the lights constructing a scafolding.

There's still the Tag that popped up in the gas pump video. The video has the coordinated in Degrees and Minutes, if you convert to decimal you get 37.7667, -122.4333 which is the corner of Henry and Noe in SF... NOT Emerald Lake

Has anyone checked this out??

I don't think that has anything to do with it. The picture shows the COG in teh light. The hider most likely planted it there on Sunday. Six received the picture on Tuesday. They've been building there since Monday because I went there monday.

I was just noting that the video displays degrees and minute and when it was posted, the person posted the "minutes" as a decimal (he posted 37 degrees 46 minutes North as 37.46) without converting. probably TMI

we do have it everythings fine..we have a few problems though.
1.) We never got a freakin dog tag (cog tag) it was just the cog (or gear) layin there so what the hell gives?
2.)The site is saying "cog tag already found"...so unless someone already got it and maybe threw it back? why the hell would someone only care about the last day site and not the collectors item? or something? idk. I need to contact Six. cause this is pretty much pissing us off. were tired, sore, and searched for 3 hours. not to mention a 4 hour drive. I'll post our story here in a little bit for all you gear heads to read.

im not positive on this but is your tag ending in EL or AO? Possibly could be in a set with the other tags. Once 1 of the tags is sent in the rest of the cogs have different codes but the codes do the same thing. Still it should give you credit for the find though and i've been seeing many of the cogs found are without tags. I wouldn't flip out but i wouldn't give it away either. Someone might unintentionally enter the code without knowing what it is and get credit for it rather than you guys

Bah. I had GearinUp listed there initially, and changed it after seeing that name listed in Waldo's creds for the COG :P So he needs to change his listing too. GearinUpAllDayyy is back with MouleMan23 on mine.

As for Exo - the item itself on the promo site lists Natas as the unlocker, so until they change that to Exo (if they ever do), I'll leave it - Exo's credited with the COG find in the lists.

Team Reno 911:
So first off let me say that this was definitely a trip to remember. It ranks up there with camping out for my 360 for 36 hours in the poring rain. I'll try not to bombard you guys with too many details but I gotta make this a fun read. =]

So we started off by leaving 7 in the morning and driving for 4 hours to get to Reno, NV. We live in Northern Cali so it's a ***** lol. Anyways were chattin it up in the car about how freaking cool it would be to actually find this hunk of greatness for about to hours until we come up fast on this stupid highway patrol. After a good five minutes he pulls us over! We were goin 70 in a 65 (all he saw was 70..haha. i drive more lik 90 but you know..) He walks up to my window with a rat in his ass..he is completely pissed off asking me if I understand what a speed LIMIT is. Long story short he let us off with a warning and calle din our car for other cops to be on the lookout for.

2 more hours later we finally arrive past Reno in Sparks, NV. We see the damn watter tower! haha. only problem is the roads were kind of messed up in the directions so we had to navigate from sight. We finally found the road to glory..its a SHOT GUN RANGE! so we drive right past the building and up to where we thought the coordinates were at. After a good 5 minutes of searching a few phone calls to Waldo this hispanic guy who works there asks us whats up..we explain very little and he says its alright to look around. After about a half hour he comes back saying his boss doesnt want us up here so I grab the radio and talk to the head honcho. It turns out hes a pretty chill guys and lets us stay up there after I explained the whole thing to him! the only drawback is he told us they were having some people come to shoot in an hour and a half and we needed to be out of there.

Mouleman23 (Trevor) and I (Matt) started dashing up the road to where all the little skeet ammo shacks are located. I forgot to mention that this Mexican guy was explaining that two guys just like us were up here last week doing the same thing we were..but they had a camera and asked to be permitted to take pictures..SO SIX AND SOMEONE ELSE DID ACTUALLY GO hahaha. I guess they walked alllllll over the place (much like we did) and they had a pistol..they started shooting beer bottles and stuff..and got into some trouble. hahaha. fun **** right? Just thought I would share some intel this worker shared with us..*back to the story* We had just called up NataSS and he was helping us out too..he told us to look all up to the left. Being the crazy, headcase Gears fans we are..we dart up that damn mountain. We looked from A to Z I swear to God. It was beginning to look like a total nightmare. We checked anyting from those skeet shacks (all 10 of them) to random rocks, to even a telephone pole at the very tip of the mountain..NO LUCK! After about 2.5 hours (the boss never made us leave) we gave NataSS a call again. Oh wait i forgot..Trevor and I aren't exactly...spider savy? and well.. a freakin HUGE tarantula spider showed up while we were spanning the mountain side.. I took a picture but i forgot to save. It scared the ever living crap out of us; and of course like an dude Trevor had to throw freakin rocks at it to piss him off while i got close with the camera hahaha.

Here'es where the juice is guys..
We call NataSS and he is trying to help us out with GPS. Google earth was the total reason why we got this thing. The location that Waldo had in Google maps was actually hundreds of yards off of where it was actually found. This isnt his fault at all its google maps locating the coordinated wrong..So NataSS types in the coordinates on google earth and he can see alot more detail and mountain region. We were on the wrong side looking for it at that point (dont worry we looked on both sides though) and I was explaining to him about the little rest area with a tree they has in the dirt parking lot and he said to go about 30 feet east and well..Trevor starts yelling and jumping up and down..its the ****ING COG TAG!!!! hahah. it was amazing! He was like is this really happening? Did we just find this freakin thing?!? it was soo surreal! He nabs it up like Frodo in LOTR and wont even let me see it (I drove, found out about this stuff, and paid for everything so i was like wtf?) haha but he finally was the friend he really is and let me take a look. I couldn't believe it guys..it was a real Cog Tag! So we hopped in the car and went off to Chilis for a victory Lunch. We eneded up getting lost on the way home and added an hour to our trip.
Overall this road trip was so awesome..from cops, to arachnids, to ****ed up GPS hahaha. this thing had just about every obstacle.
So there you guys have it..from two true hardcore Gears lovers to many more..
