Cool, yeah I've been going off of what you guys have had. It's just that I was sick over the weekend and it seems that there was quite a bit of movement and I just wanted to make sure I was up to date with where every cog stood at the moment (as we understand it).

It has slowed down in here, I think it's the lack of coordinates. The store thing is annoying but at least some people have a chance with that this weekend. Hopefully this week will pick up I like to hear good stories of finding them since I can't search myself.

I want to search so bad but I live 2 hours N of Miami and the retail thing is just to hard...over a span of 8 days somebody could be wearing that button...in so many stores ...I want some coordinates so bad ...I would drive anywhere in state then but the retail thing is to hard for me. I had to use it to search, because the sun set, and it was all that I had. In fact, I might have missed the first COG if it weren't for the red light. I had gone over the spot several times, but in the red light it stood out, where it had not in the sunlight.

You make some good points.

Other points would be people like me lose interest...people that live somewhere that in all likelihood won't get any coordinates. My area also isn't being part of the in-store "hunt".

For me, it isn't all about the hunt, but having a really awesome collectible from my favorite game. Don't get me wrong, the hunt would be awesome as has been evidenced by a lot of the stories here, but it'd be just as cool to just have one of these rare collectibles.

That being said, I can take a little bit of satisfaction in knowing that I got someone into this whole thing and they (EXO) was able to secure one of the COGs.

Anyone know if we are closing the book per say on the Seattle Highway 99/Fremont Troll COG? No buzz about it since last week after a few of us checked the area, and pretty thorough too.

Perhaps if a COG goes without finding after a week of being planted, maybe those in the area could be given a clue to it's whereabouts. Sure, it could already have been picked up, especially if it was in a open area, and we all know how busy that area containing the troll is, or it could still be there in hiding. Some more info perhaps since it has been a week since it was planted would certainly help.

Maybe clues and coordinates are hidden in there. Ahhh...I think if that were the case, it'd just be a bit harder for me to keep up since I can't be at a computer all the time watching my desktop change constantly. You have no idea what you are talking about. A GS is no indication of how much one is dedicated to a game.

Being part of ARTofWAR (a Gears-focused clan), Waterborn is highly dedicated to the game. And when one plays a ton of non-ranked games, you don't really earn a lot of GS points.

the street view is not in all countries. I know Canada does NOT have this service so maybe the UK is in the same boat.

google earth has a tilt option so you can see 3D... that may help.

I found the Toronto, Ontario cog tag from Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. I found it last night after about a 5 hour search and went straight home and hit the bed because I was dead tired from work and the searching. I saw a couple of others searching as well. I found it on a crack which was covered with a rock. Unfortunetly I couldn't take a picture because I didn't take a camera with me and I didn't think I would find it since people mentioned that it was found. The cog was in its exact location according to the coordinates. The problem many people were having including me was when we used google map it shows the road and points to the middle of the road instead of the actual spot. But in the end I got lucky. I took it and put it in my pocket and left without announcing it because I didn't feel like getting robbed and I was alone so didn't want to risk it.
Here's the picture of the cog, but I recreated how the cog originally was and how it was covered. Once again sorry for the late post but I just got back from work and activated it.

Gears of War 2 Preview

Blood, guts, gore, and Gears. That’s right, Xbox 360’s hottest game since Halo hits shelves November 7th for the holiday season. Gears of War 2 explodes with more hype then a game’s had since Halo 2; this being with good reason. Epic Games has been brewing with ideas and formulas for two years to create what people are calling the “best game ever made”. Epic has put a special emphasis on the campaign to create a more compelling story. Along with that they have fine tuned, tweaked, and crafted a new multiplayer to keep Gear Heads’ palms sweaty, and mouths fizzing for the release.

It’s January of 2006, Epic Games has yet to really put themselves on the map; with Unreal Tournament as their claim to fame. This all prior to Emergence Day on November 7, 2006. Gears of War suited the companies name quite well; it was everything the word “epic” defines, and then some.

The original Gears of War’s campaign was not ground breaking, but it was definitely above average. The breath taking graphics and multiplayer is what really kept players hooked over the last two years. Epic bounces back with a redefined story mode to really excite gamers. Dominic Santiago is brought out into the limelight. He’s still Marcus Fenix’s accomplice and best friend; however, the designers at Epic have decided to attach an emotional appeal to the game. Dom is in constant search of his wife, Maria. Marcus, Dom, and the rest of the squadron will battle the Locust Horde of catastrophic proportions in order to save Sera from collapsing altogether. Humanity rests on the doorstep of Jacinto, the last city standing for civilization. If Jacinto falls, so will the human race.

Delta Squad is back with the additions of Dizzy, a “stranded” that was recruited to join the team, Tai, a spiritual and meditative warrior who has been in the war all along, and Chairman Presscott, a dictatorial military leader of the Coalition of Governments (COG). Each new character is suspected to add a colorful addition to the company.

Storyline is great, fantastic, we’re all stoked to unveil the continuation of this legendary campaign. Be that as it may, the real money making is made on Xbox Live. Epic wanted to keep the game play virtually the same, while still effectively offering enough revisions and advancements to feed the hungry gamers. The Epic studios have been accused of having this game more of a Gears 1.5, rather than Gears of War 2. The classic Gears that consisted of teams of 4 have now been extended to teams of 5. Moreover, Wingman and Capture the Flag (CTF) have been added. Modifications have been made to what was known as “Assassination”, now known as “Guardian”. But, perhaps the most anticipated game mode is what’s known as “Horde”. Players team up to fend off waves of Locust; while each wave becomes increasingly more difficult. Completing this type on “Insane” difficulty is immeasurable for the time being.

Gears of War 2 is anticipated to have a tremendous amount of gamers drooling come November 7th. Be assured, Epic has it’s consumers in good hands. It looks as if all the build-up and hype for the future game of the year is going to live out its potential. Dominic Santiago is brought out into the limelight. He’s still Marcus Fenix’s accomplice and best friend; however, the designers at Epic have decided to attach an emotional appeal to the game. Dom is in constant search of his wife, Maria. Marcus, Dom, and the rest of the squadron will battle the Locust Horde of catastrophic proportions in order to save Sera from collapsing altogether. Humanity rests on the doorstep of Jacinto, the last city standing for civilization. If Jacinto falls, so will the human race.

Delta Squad is back with the additions of Dizzy, a “stranded” that was recruited to join the team, Tai, a spiritual and meditative warrior who has been in the war all along, and Chairman Presscott, a dictatorial military leader of the Coalition of Governments (COG). Each new character is suspected to add a colorful addition to the company.

Storyline is great, fantastic, we’re all stoked to unveil the continuation of this legendary campaign. Be that as it may, the real money making is made on Xbox Live. Epic wanted to keep the game play virtually the same, while still effectively offering enough revisions and advancements to feed the hungry gamers. The Epic studios have been accused of having this game more of a Gears 1.5, rather than Gears of War 2. The classic Gears that consisted of teams of 4 have now been extended to teams of 5. Moreover, Wingman and Capture the Flag (CTF) have been added. Modifications have been made to what was known as “Assassination”, now known as “Guardian”. But, perhaps the most anticipated game mode is what’s known as “Horde”. Players team up to fend off waves of Locust; while each wave becomes increasingly more difficult. Completing this type on “Insane” difficulty is immeasurable for the time being.

Gears of War 2 is anticipated to have a tremendous amount of gamers drooling come November 7th. Be assured, Epic has it’s consumers in good hands. It looks as if all the build-up and hype for the future game of the year is going to live out its potential. Gamer’s everywhere will be lining up, some even camping, for the midnight launch of the newest edition to the Gears of War series. Gamers: grab your pre-order receipts and get there early, Gears of War is back and more bad-ass then ever.

We were so close to winning but EVERYONE ganged up on us because we played so well. It broke my heart so much because not only were the bystanders cheering for us, but also the workers at the event too. They seriously thought we had it won.
Man. Between the sooooooo close lost and my missed cog tag chances, I'm so damn depressed over this whole thing. Again, it could just be because I'm a chick and all touchy but I swear, I just wanna curl up into a ball and die for a little bit.
AHHH! Oh well. I guess I just have to hope for more cog tags around the Bay Area so I can run out and get them. So long as they don't cut through my school time anymore.

You mean the one at the Troll location? Because it sounds like it has been picked up but just not reported. Remember the first one placed in Seattle at the UW which was done so I believe on a Sunday or Monday ended up being found the same day, but wasn't reported found until the following Thursday, so a number of us searched for four days straight not knowing it had already been found.

I have checked the Highway 99/Troll location, as a few others have, and nothing could be found. If we had some sort of clue as to where it could be, it would help. Remember while it is a compacted area, there are a number of tourist folks who go to that Troll to take pictures, plus the homeless have a presence there and quite possibly someone who lives up under the highway found it and didn't know what to make of it.

I would like to think it is still there, but with the highway, surrounding homes, the troll, there could be a million different places it could be. I have to guess it would be laying out in the open like others have been, and if that was the case, surely it was picked up by someone, possibly someone who isn't a part of this forum or have any idea what it is they found.

Hopefully, if more get planted here in Seattle, they choose to put them in areas with less foot traffic as so far the UW and Troll spots are locations were a large number of people frequent daily.

Anyone else here in Seattle want to chime in?

It's so hard to smile when we were so close to winning! Argh. I ended up partnering with my sister's ex boyfriend and thanks IamTimO for the congrats. We didn't get anything other than the chance to play Gears 2 which was great, the graphics and gameplay are insane but incredible!

I read Rajio's comments on this flickr photo, and he didn't get it in the mail, but got it at a Toronto Best Buy last weekend that had 5 to give out. This event was announced on the Canadian XBox Live news feed. You had to show up and say 'reporting for duty' (or something) to some 'commander' guy.

It was probably a photo taken when the cog was planted originally. A few of us, including myself, have checked the area, and I checked the eye of the Troll up-close and didn't see anything in there.
