In Firefox, go to your preferences, then the privacy tab. In the Cookies area, go to 'Show Cookies...'. Search for the gearsofwar.xbox.com ones and delete them.

For those folks having trouble with the last day website using firefox, it's Adobe Flash Player 10 that doesn't work with the site. What you have to do is uninstall 10 and get 9 again. There was another thread in the last day section of this gears forum that had the link. So yeah, that's all you folks gotta do to have it working. I double checked if it worked by installing 10, checking the website, fail, uninstalling 10, installing 9, checking the website, success! I did that twice and it worked fine.

And the Texas coordinates totally threw me off last night but glad to finally hear that one was out in the darkness. I'm glad krill didn't get the guy.

Another thing you can do is go to the top of your screen and click "Tools" and then click "Clear Private Data", make sure all the boxes have a check mark in them and then click "Clear Private Data Now". That may help you out....

Gearin, Six released TX coords late last night at about 10:30 pm est. The coords were north of Dallas and East of Plano. One of my friends from the 2Old2Play website, Soup Nazi, scored the COG and has posted the CSID. No new content on the web or coords so far today. That is about it.

Yes - as far as I know. Given that most COGs have been placed in groups within certain geographic areas (SF, Boston, Seattle), it is a pretty good bet that there is hope for more in TX, so keep you eyes open.

I do think that we will see an increase in the frequency of coords as Nov 7th draws near. Currently approx. 315 COGs have been found or sent out by Six and his crew. That leaves 600+ still to come in the next 12 days. Of course, this number will depend on how many they "threw away" with the in-store program.

Been watching this thread since the COG hunting started but never felt the need to post since nothing really pertained to me and my location (Schaumburg, IL), but now that I've been reading the last few pages about the store hunts, I thought I'd share my experience.

I saw somebody wondering about Schaumburg being technically part of the Chicago area, so I decided to do some hunting of my own today (went to Arlington Heights, Bloomingdale, Addison, and Schaumburg) at Best Buy, Circuit City, and GameStop and came up pretty empty. Nobody really seemed to know what I was talking about.

One of the employees at GameStop offered to give me the small dog tag COG tag things you're supposed to get with a preorder, but I told him that wasn't what I was looking for. I explained to him what was going on and he said it sounds awesome, and he was going to check it out when he got home.

So, that's the extent of my hunting. I don't think it helps much but I thought I'd throw that out there. :)

I have checked into 6 Best Buy Stores and 14 Game Stop Stores with Chicago listed in their address. Outside of Chicago addresses, but a part of the greater Chicagoland area, I have been to 2 Best Buy Stores, 2 Circuit city Stores and 4 Game Stop Stores.

Answers pertaining to the promotion haven't swayed much since yesterday. Most Game Stop answers are: "Maybe for the midnight launch." The Circuit City stores are clueless, period, much like they are with everything in their stores. The Game Crazy Stores flat out have told me no, except for one. The Best Buy stores have been most helpful in trying to help, but I was actually asked to buy something or leave today at one location because security deemed me to be loitering. I guess the whole waiting around hoping you'll find someone with a special pin isn't a welcome idea to the staff. Ironically it is the Best Buy location that I felt would be the *most likely* to have received promotional material. Just because they have a lot of promotional stuff set up that most stores don't have the space to display. (Like a HUGE metal guy from Fallout 3 standing in the middle of the game section.)

Either way, the tone has been different from yesterday. Like I thought at the end of the day, I'm sure they're tired of people hassling them. Some stores still suggested to check in tomorrow as shipments would come in, if it was meant for 25, 26, 27, because they claim shipments don't come in on Saturdays. Which makes sense if UPS or such was used to send the COGs out. Either way, I doubt Six would send us out on a chase if it was meant to truly be those three days. But like I said, I'm pretty worn out in my search. Outside of church in the morning, I spent absolutely all day driving around Chicago going in and out of the stores in the cold and later rain.

I want to continue the search tomorrow, but I fear the traffic that will come with it being a work day. Then again, if it is contingent on a package being delivered, it still will be hit or miss as all deliveries don't happen in the early morning. I appreciate the viral campaign, but even coordinates put you in a better position, because right now it's all too vague. Whether it be stores and their employees not telling the truth, or it be the fact that they really are telling the truth and they just don't have it. But, like I said, I doubt we'd be sent on a goose chase by Six without any real COGs to go after...which leads me to believe it is stores and their employees not telling the truth. And it is true the Six said you have to be at the right place or time, but I was asking the employees at many of the stores, I'm not asking you to give me one, could you just tell me if you're taking part in this promotion? And I was usually met up with the answer, specifically Game Stop, of: "Maybe for the midnight launch..."

Just because they have a lot of promotional stuff set up that most stores don't have the space to display. (Like a HUGE metal guy from Fallout 3 standing in the middle of the game section.)

Either way, the tone has been different from yesterday. Like I thought at the end of the day, I'm sure they're tired of people hassling them. Some stores still suggested to check in tomorrow as shipments would come in, if it was meant for 25, 26, 27, because they claim shipments don't come in on Saturdays. Which makes sense if UPS or such was used to send the COGs out. Either way, I doubt Six would send us out on a chase if it was meant to truly be those three days. But like I said, I'm pretty worn out in my search. Outside of church in the morning, I spent absolutely all day driving around Chicago going in and out of the stores in the cold and later rain.

I want to continue the search tomorrow, but I fear the traffic that will come with it being a work day. Then again, if it is contingent on a package being delivered, it still will be hit or miss as all deliveries don't happen in the early morning. I appreciate the viral campaign, but even coordinates put you in a better position, because right now it's all too vague. Whether it be stores and their employees not telling the truth, or it be the fact that they really are telling the truth and they just don't have it. But, like I said, I doubt we'd be sent on a goose chase by Six without any real COGs to go after...which leads me to believe it is stores and their employees not telling the truth. And it is true the Six said you have to be at the right place or time, but I was asking the employees at many of the stores, I'm not asking you to give me one, could you just tell me if you're taking part in this promotion? And I was usually met up with the answer, specifically Game Stop, of: "Maybe for the midnight launch..."

GREAT post. I'd say put it in it's own thread so people on the hunt for them at stores can see this and/or so Six can see it and give his input.

I saw somebody wondering about Schaumburg being technically part of the Chicago area, so I decided to do some hunting of my own today (went to Arlington Heights, Bloomingdale, Addison, and Schaumburg) at Best Buy, Circuit City, and GameStop and came up pretty empty. Nobody really seemed to know what I was talking about.

I am thinking that it might not be out this far even though Schaumburg is in the "Chicago" district. The Media Manager at BB said to check the Downers Grove; they are a big store too.

I wanted to try out at the new Arboretum in Barrington on 72 (supposed to be a big CC store out there, but didn't get a chance.) if you can, give it a shot. I have to work tomorrow, so it's all yours.

Yep, you hit about the same places I did. Good call on the Aboretum on Higgins and 59, I didn't even think about that CC since it's so new. Maybe I'll take a drive by there at lunch tomorrow, since I work about 10 minutes from there. I'll let you know if I have any luck, but I'm kinda skeptical at this point. Every CC I've been in today seemed like a ghost town with nobody walking around for me to glance at for buttons or anything.

That's super duper lame. I about visited GameStop about a billion times talking about Gears and all this what not. Another one was found. It was first listed as MIA but some guy who took an earlier ship found it. Took pictures and all. And I guess some days later, a guard said he found it, called up Mecoso and xXull and so the two of them went and got it. That's why I was confused. Two cog tags in the same location? Unless someone's lying and bought one from ebay.

I hadn't been on in a few days so when I checked in and read about the promotion running until the 27th I was seriously thinking about calling in sick tomorrow so I could head up to Chicago from Indy. Luckily Drew was thinking clearly and remembered the magic of telephones.

Considering the grief I caught from the guys at work when I just drove 30 min to get an autograph from Marvin Harrison, driving 3 hours for a COG tag would have been tantamount to announcing that I think my cat wants to sleep with my wife because he was her husband in a previous life.

...Who am I kidding? It would totally be worth it.

I think any COG tags sent out will not unlock either audio files nor any of the tabs - I presume they want to leave that honor to people who spend time going out and finding them. Quite rightly so in my opinion.

Man. I got all depressed and angry at myself because of the Oakland tag. No offense to bushmaster or anything but I felt like it was my only real chance at getting one because it was so close to me. I'm still kicking myself in the ass for it and trying to move on but ugh, this thing is seriously keeping me from sleeping and focusing on anything else but. In the end I was sent a COG tag, Gears 2 lanyard, Locust Drone figurine, Cole figurine, Marcus figurine and the Ltd Edition's art book "Beneath the Surface", complete with Dom/Maria photo. Still getting the Ltd Edition anyway though xD

You know, that sounds plausible. It does say that at certain times folks will be wearing buttons and what not and it's not that hard for a rep in a certain state to be wearing the store's uniform with a button. There could be some sort of cycle for them. Man. I wish I was in those states. I'd seriously drop out of college for these cog tags.

That would be a good idea but from his posting it doesn't sound like that is what they are going to do. There is really no checks and balance system for this promotion. If you had to register the Cog and get the customers information then forward back to Epic for a audit that might deter employees from stealing but this scenario won't happen.

I was thinking the same thing, we have a lot of tourist stuff here though. Out near Disney or at Universal City Walk. Downtown here has some good parks too. The science center has some sculptures out in the lawn lots of places I'm about 20min from all of them too! *fingers crossed*
