Waldo was enjoying his 21st B-day in Sin City, and amidst all the walking on the Vegas Strip ( Up and down both sides twice, and every casino in 3 days ) I was still searching for a COG Tag there because I figured eh, I'm walking I might as well look right? And I've been unable to check anything because the Tropicana sucks and has no internet. Here's a tip don't stay at the Tropicana! I had a friend check out the Windsor location, said he couldn't find anything... but he did't explain where he looked in detail. said something dejectly about how it probably sank into the water or something :P (which makes me believe he did get the updated coordinates), but I don't think he was following the search results very closely, so may not have been watching out for the right kind of hiding places. *shrug*

don't know if he'll go back again. he never sounded really excited about it at all (even though he offered to search).

I'm kind of wondering exactly who the marketing campaign is targeted towards. Is it us, the hard core deciphels , or are they putting the cogs out where random people can see them in hopes that they will visit the lastday website and get exposed to gears of war?

The COG placement would seem to indicate the latter is true. But the website doesn't work if people don't type the codes in, so loosing codes i assume limits how much of the website unlocks. And i would imagine that it's only us that are going to type in the codes especially when the website takes so long to load if it ever does. If i didn't know what was going on, i'd just close my browser and move on, i have no patience for waiting for websites to load.

There was one odd thing though.. a fishing pole left by the water. There wasn't anyone else around so he decided to pull up the line but it snapped as he tried to reel it in, so anything that was on the line is in the river. Seemed too risky to be a COG, but he had searched everywhere else...

hope we get some more coordinates today. They could always change the code on the website to a code of a different tag and re-hide them in other places if they are MIA..

I was on the phone with him for 2 hours worth of the search, he was on the hunt. I had the map pulled up on Google Earth, crossing off the locations he had looked. I gave him a lot of ideas on where to check based on previous COGs. He was frustrated because it was cold, the border is a pain, and the bridge costs $$$, but he was making a good effort to find it.

Hey Waldo, now that you're back you can take the Union Square one off the list, it's gone. I went there on Monday and snapped a pic of the location to show that the cog is no longer there so people stop wasting their time looking for it.

The alkatraz one is also missing, pictures have been posted from teh crew that went out there on the first available boat leaving for alkatraz from when the coords were posted. And it was long gone.

City Walk is also believed to be gone, lots of people have spent many many hours searching that area and have found nothing. Without a picture though it's impossible to know for sure but more than a week's gone by, if it hasn't shown up yet, it's not going to.

So it's either a game of people say they're going and are not. Or people who went and not reporting it. Or, as stated, someone went and found nothing.

It's a 4 hour drive for me. Like I said, Team Reno did it, I can do it. But I don't want my efforts to be fruitless, if someone isn't following up on their part in keeping the board informed. (Cause it seems to be just a few people relaying information from others.)

actually the guy did respond back earlier said his contact went and found nothing, he did say that there was a fishing rod left alone and they tried to reel it in and when they did the line broke so hmmm not sure about this one

He basically walked the grid of the entire park and found nothing...

There was one odd thing though.. a fishing pole left by the water. There wasn't anyone else around so he decided to pull up the line but it snapped as he tried to reel it in, so anything that was on the line is in the river. Seemed too risky to be a COG, but he had searched everywhere else...
