Hi all,

I've just made my first, really simple map, but when I come to cook this masterpiece the Editor hangs when it's finished. Closing the shell which is detailing the cooking brings me back to the Editor as if nothing has happened, but it's frustrating me that there's something going wrong. The exact sequence of events is as follows:

I click "publish" - when prompted to save packages click "no", as recommended on some other threads on here about crashing on cooking (it makes no difference if I press "yes" anyway, I get the same result!)
Two boxes similar to the command prompt pop up - one with a heading "UT3.exe CookPackages -platform=PC CTF-My_First_Map -AlwaysRecookMaps -UpdateInisAuto", and another behind that with title "C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe"
The "UT3" box lists a fair amount of techincal detail about the cooking process, all going successfully, and finishes with the following lines:

Cooking [Seek free] CTF-My_First_Map

Copying Shader cache RefShaderCache-PC-D3D-SM2.upk
Copying Shader cache RefShaderCache-PC-D3D-SM3.upk
Copying Shader cache RefShaderCache-PC-D3D-SM4.upk

(A list of how long each portion of cooking took)
Total Time 15.56 seconds

Success - 0 error(s), 0 warning(s)
Execution of commandlet took: 15.62 seconds

I then get a blinking cursor on that screen - the "cmd.exe" screen remains blank. Closing either one of them causes a "UT3 has stopped responding" alert from Windows, which after a short time prompts me to close the program - when I do, I am returned to the Editor which functions normally.

Any advice or comments gratefully accepted - I've searched around on the fora for people who've had similar problems, someone suggested deleting GlobalPersistantCookerData.upk file from the published/cookedPC folder so that it's rebuilt, but that did nothing for me. The guide I've been using to publish is here: http://utforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=590932.

Many thanks,
Scubbo

Are you using Vista? If so, I had a similar experience. When it prompts you to close the editor, don't. On my computer, it would just go back to the editor and when I tested the map in the game, it worked fine.

I am back to XP now... :D

Sorry, should have mentioned that - yes, I'm on Vista. Reassuring that someone else has the same problem! I'll carry on as normal then. Thank you for the swift reply!

I tried both XP on my PC and Vista on two other PCs. On vista it crushes, but it gives the ending result fine.
