Problems updating online

Hey guys...so, i installed GoW a few days ago, and i've been trying to download the update for it online...seeing as i can't sign into my gamer profile until i do so...

...anyways, when i try to download the update, the progress bar advances a bunch, and then stops a few pixels from the end. Its there it remains for at least 34 minutes (because that's as long as i care to wait for a little insignificant progress bar)


anyone have any thoughts?

Where are you trying to "download the update" from, and which update are you referring to? Are you talking about the patch or the Live update?

I just bought the game on Sunday and installed it. Having already dl'd the patch I then installed it. I played for one night without creating a Live ID. On Monday night I then created my account on Live. It did take about 10-15 minutes as I recall. So far so good.

The PC side of GoW forum is rather bleak. It'll take some time it seems to get responses.

You can manually install the LIVE update (or title update) as well.

Please check out this thread, the original version of Gears of War (nonpatched) had an issue with shutting down properly to allow the update to complete. This thread walks you through that issue:
