Hello all, new here and sadly, I need help with installing this game. I'll try and keep it short.

I insert the disc, go through all the screens, the game installs and then the file decompression starts. As soon as that's completed, I get nothing. I can still see the setup tab on my task bar but there's no window. I click the tab but nothing pops up. Task manager shows nothing.

As soon as I try and open 'my computer' to see if it was installed, my system freezes. I manually force shut down (or whatever holding the power button 5 seconds is called), start back up and look at the installation directory and all I see are a bunch of documents and meaningless folders for which I'd think would have game data but they don't.

I've tried 3 times and every time, the same thing happens. I keep all my games on a separate harddrive (call it the 'g' drive), so I installed it there all 3 times. I read somewhere that you should install using default settings but I can't.. now whenever I try to install without going into "more options", it automatically installs on my 'g' drive. Even when I go to "more options" and set it to install on the default directory (c:/program files/MS games/etc. or whatever), it still installs on the 'g' drive.

My computer runs perfectly (I can play other games like Crysis, FEAR, HL2 fine) so I doubt it's an issue with the computer. Relevant specs if needed:
Windows XP Sp2
Asus M2N-E AM2
AMD X2 BE-2400 (2.3GHz, stock)
ASUS 512MB HD 3850 668MHz core, 1650MHz memory (stock)
4x 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800
OS on a 320 Seagate 7200.10 SATA, 'g' drive is a 500GB WD Caviar SATA

Any help? This is pissing me off.

If you go into the Add/Remove Programs window in XP, do you see Gears of War in the list? If so, go ahead and uninstall it from there, then try your reinstallation steps and see if they resolves the always installing to G issue.
