Gears1 Crashes PC

I've installed Gears of War on my PC, installed the patch (from http://gearsofwar.xbox.com/pc/qfe1.htm), and when I run the game, it runs smoothly for about 90 seconds (including load times) and then crashes. It crashes after this same period of time whether I'm using the game menus or whether I'm watching the game's opening movie.

OS: Windows Server 2008 x64 (patches are fully up-to-date)
RAM: 8 GB
Video Card: GeForce 8800 GTS 512

Make sure you've installed the Games for Windows - LIVE update as well (version 1.2.241).
