Can't Get GoW to Install

Hey everyone first let me assure you that my computer is well above the minimum requirements for the game i have checked/ upgraded/ got the most recent drivers, and even got a registry cleaner/fixer to make sure any old GoW installs were gone.

I run Windows XP, and my video card is a Geforce 8800 SSC.

Any other information or suggestions please post and ill keep you updated on my progress.

Basically it stops at 4 bars into the installation, stays like that for like 20 minutes and then it gives me this error.............

"error 1305.error reading from, file E:\program files\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\WarGame\CookedPC\Environments\COG_City_EBA_Ada msHouse\COG_City_EBA_AdamsHouse_03.upk.comp. Verify that the files Exists and that you can access it"

Now i am the admin, and i should have complete access and ive explored the cd and the file is there.

Has anyone else had this problem, is it one of these faulty cd's i hear about(I hope not, this was a Christmas present a year ago, doubt they'd let me return it now). Any help would be great, i keep hearing about how great this game is, and would like to be able to play it someday:)

well dude i think i have a problem similar to urs.

jus bought da game today. i install the cd which takes a while and once its done it minimizes for a long time and gives me an error with a code. after that nothing happens...didnt even give me the icon to play. i have a good computer too with good specs.


It says failed to load DLL:setup. And it gives me the error code.
error code: 0x80040702.

Any clue how to fix this problem?

just bought game lastnight also. The game loaded and everything but as soon as I try to play the game it shuts down, screen goes blank, and a box pops up and says an error caused program to close. please close program.
