thats because Valve is stupid and just looks at the speed of the cpu and not what type it is. your 2180 is easily as fast a old 3.0 P4.
you should be able to run Gears smoothly on a mix of medium and low settings at 1024x768 with DX9 and of course NO AA. AA only works with DX10 anyway and only when used through the games menu not your video card control panel. also make sure you get at least the 177.79 or newer drivers.

thax for the replay but my pc can handle more than medium bycos its a dual core = 2 cores of 2.0ghz and on can you run it they say it runs as a 4.5 single core but in some games like world in conflict it laggs as hell and the can you run it says i can handl it on recom while if i start it the default setting stand on low whit a 47frame/sec max en min a 9 frame/sec so i gone go back too the store where i buy my cpu and gone ask it.and i try can you run it for gears and its stand ware normal recom stands

NO IT CANT. an 8500gt is a freaking joke for modern games. your video card has HALF the performance of my already wimpy 8600gt. are you really that crazy to think that your $40 video card can play on high settings?

like stated, shouldnt be a problem on med-low settings. I actually have a E2160 and at one point had a Radeon HD3450 (way worse than an 8500) and got playable framerates on medium and a decent resolution. If possible, try to overclock your cpu to help

Hey schooter8400, Don't listen to everyone else. You computer is perfect for GOW. You should be able to crank up settings on High with Anti aliasing turned on.
I've noticed that PC Gamers are quick to shoot other people's systems down and I don't think that fair. You have a very good system and should really enjoy the game. One note though, "Can You Run It" is very bias when it come to scanning system Req. Always download demo and test for games that way. Then you get a feel for how the game runs. "Can You Run It" said that my 8500GT wouldn't run Bioshock, but I downloaded the demo and cranked up the setting to Ultra High and 1024-768 with DX10. It was sweet.

250 GB SATAAre you really that crazy to think an 8500gt can run Gears maxed out in DX10 with AA? Thats beyond BS and if you dont know that then you have no business giving advice.
Also you are full of **** saying that you ran Bioshock on max DX10 settings with an 8500gt. The 8600gt can barely do that and it has TWICE the power of an 8500gt.
Heres a nice little wake up call for you. Also remember that this review use a better cpu than yours too.

First off Buddy, I don't want to start an argument because I am to intellegent for this.
The 8500GT and 8600GT are relatively the same. Bioshock ran superb with my 8500GT. I actually ended the game with it on DX10. I got around 25fps at 1024x768. That's a repsectable framerate.
I don't look to one-up anyone. I am basically saying that Gears of War, which I hate entirely, but was bored to death, can run with his computer.
You do not need a 8800 Ultra or equivalent to run this poorly ported games for Windows. Their are only a handful of games that really do need 8800 Ultras and equivalent and Gears of War (a sloppy port) is not one of them.
I really hope that GoW2 stay on the Xbox360. It was intened for it and needs to remain that way.

it can run it on max i try it the only thing ya need is a very good cpu like a 6600 and at least 4 gig of ram for a maximum resolution and the game runs fine whit no frame drops and texture fault the moment ya got directx 10 support and ya have 512mb ram + on this card ya got 1224mb ram so ya can even put more ram out of that cheap video card ya can handle the game on maximum. i even saw people how got crysis on maximum
for crysis i advise 5 gig of ram and a quad core that olmoast hit the 3.0 whit a geforce 8 series card whit atleast 512 than ya can handle very hig

250 GB SATA25fps in Bioshock is NOT playable. also the 8600gt is TWICE as fast as the 8500gt so its not even close. if you actually looked at the link you will see that in Bioshock the 8600gt more than doubles the performance of the 8500gt.
the 8500gt is a joke for modern games and you wont be running Gears with max DX10 settings and AA like you claim. I can run it in DX9 maxed at 1024x768 and average around 40fps with an 8600gt. so you can expect around 20 just with those settings for an 8500gt. if you bumped that to DX10 and AA you would be looking at framrates in low teens at best on the 8500gt. Im not knocking someone for their hardware but I am being realistic.
