Name: Hollywood Holocaust 2008
Version: 1.0
Compatibility: PC and PS3 (thanks to The Demon Slick for PS3 cooking)
Description: This map is an UT3 adaption of the first level of Duke Nukem 3D (Hollywood Holocaust). This is a VERY simple map because I'm still a beginner, but I like it because it makes me remember when I was younger and I used to play Duke Nukem 3D. (Developed in July, reviewed in August)

It would be so awesome if someone did the sewers from "Time to Kill". I'm also waiting to see the Duke as a custom character. I'm a huge fan! I didn't get it as 3D, I got it on PS as "Total Meltdown", but I think it was the same game. Then Time to Kill, Zero Hour, and Land of a Thousand Babes.... Good times, good times.....

i wanted to make it but then the deathmatch wouldn't be so "concentreted". Maybe i'll do an indoor-only version further!

it's impossible if ut3 is installed and fully functional! i tested it, it doesn't install only if the directory "documents/my games/unreal tournament 3" doesn't exist.
try reinstalling ut3, if you can't solve the problem, contact me with a PM and i'll send you the manual installation files and the instruction

Nice work dosse, but for those of us who are wary an exe file isn't what we want to see when we download a map. I know you wouldn't hide anything that would compromise our computers in there, but in "exe" format it is possible, besides server admin using a hosted server have no way to install this as is. I would never run an executable on our server box even though I could simply because of the possibility it could compromise not only the server it's installed on, but every other server on the box.
That being said it brought back a lot of memories, although with more than 3 players this becomes a spamfest due to the small outside area. I too would love to see the inside portion added.

so, should i post only zip files for manual install or both zip and exe?

dosse, hang on, the cooks are coming, all three, Feisar is trying to get the preview pics to work, should get them today. Great maps, Slime is my favorite, the movie posters in this and FragTown are sweet! Nice touch.

Sick map, just add the inside and it will be even sicker!!! jus have two different versions of the map one for 4-6 players and one a lil bigger with the inclusion of the inside portion of the map. and i think exe and zip is a good idea... i personally prefer exe but i also agree with Minion and his situation. Keep up the great work!!!

I don't think using a .exe...makes that much difference ....But just in case you feel you have to check on files.... Just browse the .exe to your desktop/new folder, install to this, check out the files...and install manually.. :)

The UT99 version of this map had a pretty large and detailed indoor part, and worked rather well imo. In fact, it's what made the map so much fun to play.

Nice work, dosse! HH is one of my favorite gaming levels ever. True level design perfection.
This is a great adaption, and as others have said, I do hope you consider adding an inside area to "complete" it.
I recall working on a similar rehash myself at one point....I may have to dig it up and finish it sometime.

Nice, Dosse - the only thing I have against it is the small size! Next to FragTown, when Hollywood Holocaust is a small part of that map played at night, you can't help but feel that it's a little truncated. And that catwalk above the rocket launcher spawn - looks like you should be able to get there, but there's no route up & no jump boots to go have a look.
That said, it's still a nice little map for a quick fragfest, which it quickly becomes with more than a few players! :) I've never played Duke Nukem so no idea how it compares with the original, but if you do ever consider an expanded remake one day, I'd love to see that :)
Nice job, thanks for allowing it to be cooked for PS3 :)

Zip version available!
I got alot of memories from this map! thanks for the remake!
This map got alot of history and remakes, yours is one of the awesome remakes around. I like the remakes that have the indoor part, but this one might be better for most of us since small and mid-size DM maps are more preferable than huges. But still you can try to make indoors in another version. Thanks for your work! :)

Pretty cool. It was nice to get in there and see the old street and hear the old music with the new UT3-looking weapons and stuff. I must confess, I actually still play the old Atomic Edition from time to time, just for giggles.

Bumpy! I know that this thread is four years from now and this is a short review. Well, this map is definitely good; and a great remake from the Duke Nukem 3D in first level. This must be a loadout of fragging enjoyment with the Rocket Launcher and Flak Cannon (why the Link Gun is up now?) Basically, this map is good for 1-on-1 duel match or 8 players in TDM; don't think I'm setting this map to 16 players I believe. The two posters are nice, but also the flames, cars, cities from the outside (but still makes missing though), old streets should never be the same and I can't find the door way ahead to the cinema.

Ah, the Duke is back! I can't believe I haven't reviewed this one yet. This one needs a preview screen (fixed).;) I have at least one version for UT (DM-Duke3D, but not sure if this is Hollywood Holocaust or not) and thought I had one for UT2004, but I can't find it. I like the movie posters, skybox, flames, trees, smoke, lights and other details some of which are similar to original. A very small map as I remember and I believe some other versions left out the cinema exploration part as well. Still haven't bought the new Duke game and not sure if I will.:)

I will be the first to admit. I'd much rather be playing UT3 and roaming around in this map than I would ever spending another moment with that junky Duke Nukem Forever any day.
I don't think I'd have trouble finding people that agree with this one.
