Controller not Working Properly - Help!

Yeah basically, my 360 wired controller works through the menus and everything just fine, but when I start playing through a level it just keeps switching on and off, and as it does this, it holds buttons that I only pressed for a moment so everything is delayed and basically not working properly.

So what can I do? Is there some way to fix this? Because I am truly horrible with mouse and keyboard, I've never played a game with keyboard+mouse.

It might be the wire it plugs in with. When your controller is on fiddle around and see if the controller disconects. If not buy a new pad.

did you by the controller as an xbox 360 controller for windows? or did you buy it just as an xbox controller?

just a thought but is your controller pluged into a usb 1.1 port or a usb 2.0 port because usb 1.1 ports dont give devices as much juice as usb 2.0,also to be on the safe side if you using the microsoft drivers u should update them.
